What are some trendy fall outfits?

Q. I'm 13 and I usually wear t-shirts, both unisex ones from events and stuff and ones actually made for girls. I usually wear gym shorts and sweatpants, and I have a couple jeans and denim shorts. I have toms, sneakers, and converse. I'm too small to fit into the juniors section (I think).

What outfits could I wear to look trendy but not like a poser?

A. 1.)You could wear sweats with any t-shirt that you have (that will look good). And you could wear uggs with them or some really cute tennis shoes. You could also French braid your hair with the outfit if you like You hair French braided.
2.)If you are wearing jeans you could get any t-shirt that you have and tuck it in your jeans them pull it out a little bit so it's not to tight then you can out a cute belt and wear any shoes that will look good. For your hair you could French braid it the night before so when you wake up and take the braid out its wavy. Hope I helped!!�

Q. I'm not a big fan of unisex anything, I was thinking of possibly buying a pair of these shoes if there not too girly. What does everyone think???

A. I remember having a pair of black with white stripe Adidas samba shoes about 10 years ago, and if I remember correctly, they were indoor athletic shoes - and the pair I had were guy's shoes. Now - that doesn't mean that Adidas hasn't branched out with this model...

A quick stop over at Adidas' website and searching for Samba quickly reveals that this is a men's athletic indoor shoe with some junior/kid models also available. The only women's clothing labeled with 'Samba' are a pair of tights and training paints.

I personally loved the Samba shoe (classic white on black) when I had them because they fit really well when I was running. Your question causes me to long for a new pair so I can start getting fit again.

My friend who got me hooked on these shoes was a pretty athletic guy who played soccer. These shoes are durable and light weight. They aren't flashy or full of stuffing like many of today's $$$ basketball shoes. They are good looking and extremely practical. It's alot like wearing a lightweight slipper or glove over your foot ... not some heavy boot with stuffing that's going to weigh 5 lbs after it gets wet.

However, your question causes me to wonder if you put too much value on what people think about you because of the shoes you wear. I think that's a little shallow - however - I'm way past my teenage years, and have gotten over most of that traumatic teen peer-pressure business. I might be able understand why you might be a little self-conscious wearing these because these aren't 'trendy', however I'm more interested in fit and function than fashion.

If you want a comfortable athletic shoe - and if you can find a pair of Sambas that fit you just right - I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.

It's time for me to happily admit something....I was the girl in Jr. high & high school who wore glitter on my eyelids and would also dab some on my face for game day....oh yea, that was me, and those were the days! I have such a thing for glitter! So you can imagine how excited I have been as glitter shoes have been making their way into the fashion world. I have been looking for the perfect pair that I must take home to join my other shoes, but I have been a little disappointed with the prices.

With $80 being the cheapest, I still wasn't comfortable spending that much "on a trendy shoe" which might not even get worn that often. I stylistically love all of the $200-$300 pairs....of course...so I decided to make my own. I must say I went into it with low expectations because I wasn't sure if I could get the look I wanted (meaning not too homemade looking) as well as still functional. My biggest challenge was that I had to find a way to keep the glitter on while walking. The last thing I wanted was to walk down the street leaving a little fairy dust trail behind me, even though it would have been pretty ;.) However, even though this was a four day process (including curing time) I must say I have never been SO PLEASED with a homemade shoe project ;.) okay, okay, this way my first one...but it really did turn out well. Here are the shoes finished...

The best part was that I was able to get the style shoe & color I wanted. Here is how I did it...

Before getting started: Invest in some nice glitter & glue. (remember to use coupons because the glues can be pricey and I learned not to skimp on them). I used Recollections brand glitter in Champagne (but you can use any color) as well as Mod Podge sparkle glue and a matte finish sealer.

Also find a pair of old or new shoes you would like to use. I purchased some new black leather shoes from Target.

Step 1: I used clear packaging tape to seal off the soul from the rest of the boot & then I gave it a light coat of gold spray paint because I did not want the black to peek through the gold tinted glitter. Here is what it looked like after.

Step 2: A little bit of paint seeped through the tape and onto the top edge of the shoe. So I used a gold metallic paint pen to draw around the top edge to make it look even....like this

Step 3: Now here comes the fun part. I used a sponge brush to apply a coat of Mod Podge glue to the tip of the shoe to start out with, and then lightly covered it with the glitter. Tip: I found it helpful to use the lid to a shoe box to glitter over, in order to catch the extra glitter.

After I finished the front tip I just kept working my way up the shoe. However, I left the little dot & stitching un-glittered because I liked the style of that detail.

I also chose not to cover the back because that was my preference

Step 4: I then left the shoes to dry over night. The next day I shook off the excess. You can be creative ;.) I stomped around in them in the back yard as well as used a blow up mattress compressor to blow the excess off ;.) Surprisingly the glue was super strong and held most of the glitter.

Step 5: The last step is to spray the finishing sealer on them (read directions on the can) and let them cure for a few days. Then add which ever laces you would like. You can use the original laces or have fun with them with ribbon.....I tried this fun pink ribbon lace first but then chose to go with the more natural tan colored ribbon when all was said and done.

And BAM! You have custom glitter shoes, which for someone like me is too fun for words. I am now just a little worried I might find myself looking at them when I walk....yikes, that's an accident waiting to happen! The best part is the project cost me $45 and I got the look I wanted. Now, I am trying to figure out what color of glitter shoes I want to make next ;.) Maybe some orange ballet flats for Halloween....ahhh endless possibilities.

What should I wear while staying in London?

Q. I'm going to be in London this summer (May until July) and I was wondering what the fashion was like. I'm going to be taking a class as well as working at an internship so I'll need both street clothes and work clothes.

I was going to bring dresses (I mostly have sundresses) that I can wear with tights and a cardigan and some dress pants with blouses. Do people where leggings in London? And what kind of shoes should I bring? I'm going to bring a pair of black flats but what about boots (riding or combat)?

It would be great if anyone can give me some ideas so I know what to pack.

Prints are huge in british fashion, Florals,stripes,dogtooth,leopard prints also monochrome seems to be trending alot, really your wanting to take some of the trends by make it your own, peplums are still everywhere the now and no matter what time of the year skinny jeans cant go wrong cardigans are great to pack too cause you'll be wanting something with abit of warmth to be able to throw on, work clothing however mostly everyone sticks to simple black, i knew alot of girls who work in offices tend to go for a simple white blouse and a pencil skirt, You'll begin to realise once your here that really we are a kinda trendy place but we like to be individual, id say look at some UK stores like Topshop,River Island & H&M, you'll notice alot of bright colours everywhere. Flats are good for the London for the simple reason being your going to be doing so much walking and theres no time to stop for anything, i know alot change into heals ect once they get to work. Don't be afraid you wont look like a Londoner cause really we all have our own little styles going on from Neon to gothic lol.

What dress could compliment my long-torsoed figure?

Q. I'm having a little trouble finding a dress for the upcoming winter formal dance at my high school. I have a long torso, so it's hard to find a dress that doesn't make my legs look like stubs. I also have a curvy figure (skinny stomach, bigger chest and butt), so wearing an a-line dress just makes my butt stick out and draws more attention to my long torso.

What cut would look best on me? (I'm about 5'4").

Here are just some general tips for girls with long torsos:
Try to elongate your legs

The longer your legs look, the less the observing eye will see any discrepancy or imbalance between legs and torso. Good bets include sporting short hemlines, wearing shoes and tights in the same color range, wearing pants and shoes/boots in the same color range, and trying out a few pairs of platform shoes.

Investigate high waists

High-waisted pants and skirts are an amazing tool for the long-of-torso. Since they end well above your true, natural waistline, they create visual balance along your midsection. Luckily, high waists have been trendy for a couple of years now, so they shouldn’t be too hard to locate!

Well in terms of tops, I'd say...

- Tank tops
- Camisoles
- Halter tops
- Blouses
- T-shirts

In terms of bottoms, I'd go...

- Shorts (not too short!)
- Skirts (pencil, A-line, pleated, why not, right?)
- Capris

For shoes, I'd say...

- Flipflops
- Flats
- Sandals

And then just as a side note, you might want to get a...

- Romper
- Sun Dress
- Maxi dress

When it comes to my own style, it will slightly vary depending on my mood and whatnot. I describe my style as modern classy. So, for example, I might tuck a button-up blouse into a pair of skinny jeans and wear flats getting that "classy" kind of look BUT I might change it up by wearing red skinny jeans and maybe even (faux) leather flats. That sort of a thing. Although if I do wear something a little tougher like leather flats, I'll tend to, say, curl my hair so I still give that really feminine vibe.
