I have tiny feet so I can never find shoes that are age-suitable. Where can I buy trendy shoes in small sizes?

Q. I have size 2.5 or 3 feet and can never find any nice shoes for my age (I'm going to be 19 in a month). I'd love to be able to find shoes that are reasonably priced as well as trendy that I can fit into. I tried zappos.com and they have some nice shoes in smaller sizes but it's kind of expensive. I want to get shoes that are $20-$50. Any other ideas?

A. I have the exact same problem! I'm about to be 20 and I can't find a single pair of nice high heels anywhere! anyways, my older sister told me about a website that designs heels for tiny feet women just like you and me! go to www.cinderellaofboston.com. they're having a sale right now on their winter collection. the price is actually not that bad. i haven't ordered anything yet but i think this website might do just the trick! enjoy and let me know how it went. my shoe size is exactly like yours! take care and good luck!

what brand of cute shoes will not hurt my feet?
Q. i have very sensitive feet and have a very hard time finding shoes that will not rub or blister my feet. what brand would you suggest?

A. I have this problem also, but because I have a bad hip which means I can't wear all shoe types for lots of walking.

Gabor do comfortable supportive shoes, that re trendy, but a little expensive. Mine cost £50, and were reduced !

http://www.gaborshoes.co.uk/shoes/shoes/casual/gabor-frost-black-leather-casual-shoe-64-111.htm

Faith and Clarks are good shops also.

For sensitive feet, I would advise that you invested a bit moer money than the averaeg person, because there are a lot of low quality shoes out there, and it isn't always easy to spot the exceptions.

I bought a pair of shoes but they are one size too big. What can I put inside them to make them fit?

Q.

A. I have the same problem, except all of my shoes are too big.
I use comfort padding from 'Boots' feet section, cut into strips and then stuck into the toes. I have to do this to all of my shoes because my feet are a size 3 and I have to wear orthotics - needless to say unless you are 12 years old, manufacturers don't make small, trendy shoes that fit orthotics (I am 32!).
Get the extra thick comfy padding and cut thin strips and stick into the toe section. If you stick it on the heel, I find it feels wierd because the shoe heel doesn't fit well, plus it looks really ugly.
Tuff luck if you have open toe sandals, I have to buy kids sandals!
Warning - Make sure your toes aren't too squashed at the end of the shoe, I use 2/3 layers of thick padding for shoes that are 1 size too big.
I am not a podiatrist and my podiatrist will kill me if she finds out that this is what I do to make trendy shoes fit my feet, but it does work!

Best shoes for standing up?
Q. I started working as a sales rep about 4 months ago and it's a great job. I get to stand all day, problem is, my shoes are always killing me. I get to work from F-Tu 8 hours shifts and even though I have 2 breaks and a lunch, my feet always hurt to a point that I can't sleep because of it.
I need black shoes for work and they can't be boots or tennis shoes, and definitely can't be open.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Desperate feet.
Doesn't matter if they are flat or not, the thing is I have this huge arch on my feet.

A. So, you have to wear heels? or flats? that's a bit uncomfy. I worked in Rite Aid for 6 years thankfully they allowed us to wear black sneakers.

Upon viewing the interent, I think the best thing to do is buy orthopedic shoes...ie doctor Sholls or other brands. These tend to be gentle on your feet, (nurses wear them) and allow you to stay long hours on your feet. Shoes are the basis for a good walking and standing in retail. So, even though not "trendy" or "fashionable" what you want is function and comfort.

Edit for additional details: if you scan the internet you can find sites that excel in orthopedic products. All you need to do is look up for shoe inserts for high arched feet. Source: My husband has flat feet and found a site (i'm sorry the name escapes me at the moment, it was so long ago) that made hard (but comfortable) formed plastic inserts. His feet have never felt better. He even has better posture from this addition to his shoewear.
Edit for my own additional detail: http://www.footsmart.com/P-IsoArch-High-Arch-Foot-Supports-10022.aspx here is what you are looking for. This is the exact site that my husband got his insert from. I guess, by the site, you can even ask for custom made inserts. They are a bit pricey however, for comfort and foot health, what cost wouldn't you be willing to pay. He's had his for almost a year and a half now.

What can I do to help my tired feet?? I recently went back to work and dress shoes are killing me! Help!?

Q. And yes, I buy expensive shoes so that isn't the problem!!!

A. Price is not the issue. Wear trendy dressy shoes that do not have pointy toes or pencil heels. A more rounded toe is much better for your feet. If you regularly where pointed toe shoes, your toes will stay that way and you will get bunions. I have seen it before, it is disgusting. The lower the heel the better. Higher heels look more dressy, so stick with a clunkier heel. They are much easier to walk in and do not put as much stress on your feet and legs. When you get home soak and massage your feet.

Budget Running Shoes?

Q. Hey everyone, I recently started a walking/jogging routine and plan on doing running in the near future once my legs get used to exercising (I've led a relatively sedentary life until now). I was wondering if anyone could suggest a pair of moderately inexpensive running shoes.

My biggest problem seems to be aching feet, as my current shoes are 2 year old Walmart shoes (I paid 10 bucks for them lol). A shoe with an above-average amount of cushion would be preferable.

In case this information is helpful, I'm kind of a big guy, 6'0" and 220 lbs.

Thanks a lot everyone!

Oh yeah, my price range is probably about 50-85 dollars.

A. There is no such thing as a "budget" running shoe, fact is that if you want a decent pair of running shoes your going to pay between 80-100 dollars and buy new pairs every 300-500 miles unless you want to have injuries, which can cost you a lot more then 80-100 dollars, the best thing you can do is get is "value" being the best shoe you can get for you feet at the lowest price. Some people are the "trendy"types of runners that buy the most expensive shoes possible and completely ignore if the shoes actually are right for there feet, then there are the experienced runners that go to a running specialty store and talk to a trained salesman that most of the time is a fellow runner, and they ask them questions like if they are over-pronaters, pronaters, or under-pronaters, if they have high, low or normal arches, what distances the run on a weekly basis, and some times what weight range they are in. They help determine what shoe is right for you, and then you can find the best value out of the many shoes that they show you.

problem with my big stupid feet?

Q. I am a size 12 in women's shoes and there are no cute shoes anywhere! I can't fit into all the cute shoes the other girls my age wear. I'm so frustrated. I have tried zappos and nothing. I am so sick and tired of having no cute shoes. I don't have any heals because the only ones available in my size in shoe stores are ugly. can someone help me? Is there a foot size reduction surgery or something?

A. I have size 12 shoes. This is what I do. Never shop in malls because it is frustrating and will really feel awful. I only shop online and there are so many beautiful and trendy shoes for size 12. One of the best places I have found is Tall Clothing Mall as they show us the trends for larger size shoes.

I have such a hard time finding heels that stay on my feet.?

Q. I have very high arches and unless the shoe has an ankle strap or t-strap, they all fall off when I walk. Any hints to keep regular heels on for work? Are there straps that can be added to standard heels ? It takes me months to find one pair that will actually work.

A. I have the same problem. Wasted too much money on strappy shoes that slip and slide.
You should take advantage of the cute booties that are in style right now, something with a boot-like cut but with a heel. Or there is always the Mary Jane style pumps with a strap across the foot. That would be the best for work.
Also, clogs are apparently coming back in style, they are backless but cover the top of the foot completely. Not my style but it's going to be trendy.

for overweight people - do people discrminate or act rude because of your weight?
Q. I remember being a chunky teen and being treated differently sometimes than friends. Even some rude comments from adults about how I dressed in comparison to my skinny friends (I wore looser clothing)

Now as an adult I lost weight and dont deal with that. I doesn't cross my mind to treat someone badly because of their body type, but I wonder what others are experiencing?

A. Since I'm a female over 50, I've become somewhat invisible.
I'm not part of a sought-after demographic so I just don't count.
I'm overweight but I try to take care in my dress when I'm out in public so I don't get those evil, nasty, Wal-Mart kinds of comments.

While finding clothing when I was younger was a problem, stores eventually stopped treating the plus-sized teen as inconvenient.
It finally dawned on them that a size 17 was willing to spend good money on clothes if available.

But then, along comes Mike Jeffries of Ambercrombie and Fitch and his pronouncements against larger teens and the color black and sends us back to the bad old days.

If I still had kids at home, I'd refuse to give them money to shop at A&F - if they were desperate for that clothing, they'd have to earn the money themselves.

We all have our vanities
...my daughter shops The Gap and Jones NY because the clothing fits well and matches her lifestyle.
...my son hits Foot Locker because he likes trendy athletic shoes.

However, neither will bankrupt themselves because they are both self-assured individuals and are more likely to judge someone on actions instead of dress.

Is it possible to find ballet flats that someone with high arches can wear?

Q. I love heels, but sometimes I'd like to look fashionable in a pair of trendy cute ballet flats. The problem is they kill my feet. Its odd to say but I'd rather wear heels all day than suffer with those flats on. They have zero arch support and I have really high arches that ache like crazy after an hour or so. Are there any companies out there making a flat shoe with proper arch support? Thanks for your answer and damn these high arches!

A. It is possible! If you want, you can buy from any local drug store like Walgreens Dr. Scholls feet coushins and arch supports. Some of my friends have the same problem as you and they just put the coushins in. Or, you can buy flats that have just a tiny heel. It would help your arch. I would recommend the cousins because then you can just choose any kind of flat you like and just put the coushin in the middle of your shoe. Good luck!

What is the best running shoe for me?
Q. I am a new at running and I have been training for a 5K in May. My dad recommended that I get real running shoes soon. I have done the research, but I can't find anything that helps. I know I have to decide what feels best for me, but I want to have an idea of what to look for when I get to the store. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

A. There is no real correct answer to that question as it ultimately is what feels right to you. I would highly recommend getting a quality pair of training shoes designed for distance running. Most runners in our program seem to prefer Asics or New Balance but there are several other quality companies to chose from. My best advice is to not cut corners, buy the best shoes you can afford. Stay away from cheap shoes or trendy ones. Your running success depends on your feet and they depend on the shoes. Many stores that specialize in sporting goods have runners working in the shoe departments that can help you and some really good places will actually test you for pronation problems.

- Have your split ends snipped off by a professionel.
- if you have alot of money, get a pedicure and manicure to match your streak. RED and ORANGE look vibrant and energetic. BLUE and TEAL is proven to make people more open-minded.

Clothing ideas for kids old fashioned photo shoot?
Q. My girl is 3, my boy is 5. They both wear glasses. We are doing a 1 hr photo shoot and I like the old fashioned/ rustic style. Any ideas on how I should dress them/props? Answers with links to pics of costumes, etc, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A. It depends on exaclty what era you wish to copy and exactly what sort of photos will be shot. Strict Portraits or more candid, situatuinal photos.

As for props. I suggest going to your local thrift stores, secondhand stores and antique stores (though antique stores are often pricey) and look for vintage toys. For boys, it all sort of depends on what your littleboy is in to. Old metal firetrucks and model cars work well, as do old stuffed animals that they like. For girls, contemporary cloth and rag dolls can be timeless. Items used for playing dress up work well for photo shoots as well (mom's large sunday hats, strings of fake pearls, dress gloves) if the little girl enjoys that. If your children like to read, old children's books are veyr easy and cheap to come by and make for great photos. And even if you can't find authentic old books, Little Golden Books are still published to this day and look the same as they did 60 years ago. They are bout a dollar apiece and can be found at any book store with a children's section or Wal*Mart.

Non child-related props would include flowers (pretty though a bit cliche), garden tools (depending on location), hats, and ANYTHING that your children are fascinated by or like playing with. That's the big thing, it shouldn't be forced. What do they like? Bring them along when you are looking for props and follow their lead.

For clothing: keep it simple. Try not to use patterns or anything obviously trendy and stay away from anything with obvious fasteners or brand names and logos on it. Stick to nice dress clothes. You're little girl should wear a nice, simple dress (something white or light colored will show up well in black and white photography, also it's fairly timeless) with nice simple shoes (something old fashioned like patent leather would look nice). The little boy should be dressed in lighter colors as well - preferably a button up dress shirt and dark colored pants (I wouldn't be tempted to use a tie or anything suitish. Just go with SIMPLE) His shoes should also be classic looking (black leather tie ups would be good). If this isn't possible, than have the photographer to avoid having their feet in a shot (they should be able to handle this) or have them go barefoot if the location and weather safely allow.

If you can, leave your daughter's hair down without bretts or fasteners as this will date the photo as newer. If it has to be up and, if she would be willing, try using a little hair product or bobby pins instead.

Their glasses will pose a problem as glasses change with fashion and will give away that the photo isn't very accurate in it's portrayal of "old-fashioned" photos. Also, in most older photos (say Victorian era-1950s) children didn't appear wearing photos for the large part until around middle school age.

Lastly, the best advice I have for making retro/old-fashioned/rustic/contemporary photos is to keep it simple. Try to narrow down a time-frame you have in mind and see what you already have that would have been around at that time.

I have fat feet does anyone know where I can buy heels?
Q. I have fat feet and I really love wearing heels and wedged shoes the only problem is I have a hard time finding shoes that fit and it makes me really really embarrassed when I can't buy the shoes I want so I was wondering if anyone knew of any trendy cool sites or shops in Atlanta that have shoes for women with fat feet.

A. The Avenue (which is a plus-size clothing store) has some shoes in wide widths (www.avenue.com; they're called "Cloudwalkers" shoes...but I'd go to a store & try them on, because they seem to run a little big); Payless; or go to a website like www. zappos.com or www.endless.com and search for the shoes that come in wider widths.

I also have wider feet...some brands are better than others. Nine West & Bandolino seem to run a little wider than some other brands of dressy shoes; for casual shoes, Born is actually a M/W width and they have some adorable wedgy sandals.

Many stores that specialize in sporting goods have runners working in the shoe departments that can help you and some really good places will actually test you for pronation problems.

What are some things that I can do to become more fashion forward?
Q. I am thinking about taking a job at a salon as receptionist but here's the problem, my look is casual! What are things that I can do to look cute and trendy without looking like I am try to hard. I need Ideas for nails, shoes, perfumes, and accessories, and clothing but all clothes have to be black.

A. To be a receptionist, you have to WOW them with your skills, not your look- but how your high your Hygiene is is definatly important!
a WEEK before you go for a job intervue:
-get a classic neon colored streak through your bangs, red, purple, teal, lime green, orange, yellow, pink- do what does with your hair color and most outfits.
- Have your split ends snipped off by a professionel.
- if you have alot of money, get a pedicure and manicure to match your streak. RED and ORANGE look vibrant and energetic. BLUE and TEAL is proven to make people more open-minded.
a NIGHT before your big day-
-Use a mask on your face and feet.
-Wash hair throughly and use conditioner.
-Pick out an outfit for tommorow- something that matches your streak. Add a necklace and earings, no bangles.
The morning of-
-wash hair again, style as usaul
-Add some sunsilk defrizz 24/7 creme for curly/wavy hair, (dry) or flat marvel by goldwell for straight/limp hair. work some herbal essences totally twisted mousse through damp curly hair, and herbal essennces body envy volumizing mousse to limp hair. let air dry. goof luck- and remember- look 'YOU'!!
