What makes a guy hot?

Q. This one is for the girls.
I have always been told buy girls (mainly my girlfriend) that i am "hot". I want to know what physical traits make guys attractive?

Also i have always wondered why girls like guys butts and what makes a good butt on a guy?

A. The answer to this question varies. I will give you what I think. This may not be true for other girls.

FOR PERSONALITY:
-be confident in yourself. you gotta love yourself before you love others
-be nice and try to be funny but no dumb jokes youll end up embarrassing yourself
-dont try too hard to be cool, its actually not cool
-say something or do something innocent once in a while. hold the door for the elderly, show up with a flower in front of your crush, tell them how much you care. it really warms the heart.

FOR LOOKS:
-hair: if you have longer hair, thats okay just dont let it get shaggy or too long. if you have shorter hair, you can spike up the front like this:
http://hairstyles-galaxy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Trendy-men-hairstyle-with-cool-spiky-bang-image.jpg
but whatever you do, DO NOT have hair that sticks up in the back like this:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8406/8752060668_297b098911_m.jpg
it looks really gross.
-clothing: don't go emo. personally, i dont find that a bit attractive. nor do i like saggy jeans or form fitting jeans. avoid sweatpants. wear normal jeans and name brand t-shirts and sweatshirts, athletic shorts are okay too. spirit wear is always okay.
-dont imitate specifically one person just because they are popular. go with both the trends and your own tastes.
-sanitation: look healthy and clean. take good care of yourself. no sleep in your eyes, boogers, chapped lips, or anything else that has the possibility of making you unattractive and gross.
-shoes: nike running shoes always work. try to pick colors that dont stand out too much, like black, navy, and grey. but if you are a dynamic person that likes to stand out, then go ahead pick neon yellow shoes. you can also wear vans and sperrys. no crocs or other silly shoes. for socks, nike elites or regular ankle socks.
-body: you probably think that girls go for the guys with the hugest six packs. yes they are attractive but you dont have to have them to be attractive. skinny guys are just fine also. if you are chubby or any fatter than that, i suggest working out. just dont have abs that are any bigger than abercrombie and fitch models' or make you look like your on steroids. about butts, i dont think they really factor into your hotness as long as it is not fatty.

What do I wear to a Stonefire Grill job interview?

Q. I am interviewing for a job at Stonefire Grill tomorrow after school and i was wondering what i should wear? i don't want to underdress because it's a job interview but at the same time i'm not interviewing for a very high up position..should i just wear my school uniform or should i wear a dress shirt and dress pants?

A. Casual, trendy, upscale or fast-food, whatever type of eatery you are applying to work at, make sure you dress professionally if you want to be considered for the job. During a job interview, the person interviewing you makes a judgment about your professional credibility and potential performance partially based on how you are dressed. Focus on conservative, business professional clothing for your interview. Even if you overdress, you will still make a positive impression.

Suit
Even if you are applying for a job as a dishwasher, you should look your best. While a dark-colored suit for men or women is entirely appropriate, either men or women can wear a pair of dress slacks and a button down shirt in a neutral color, which is still professional but a bit more relaxed. If a woman wears a skirt paired with a jacket, the skirt should fall just below the knee so that it will be at a conservative length when she sits down.

Shirt
Shirts worn under suits or paired with skirts or slacks should be conservative and neutral-colored. A shirt with a thin, coordinating pinstripe is acceptable. Avoid wearing trendy, sheer, brightly colored or wildly patterned garments. Keep things simple so your attire is not a distraction to the interviewer. You want him to focus on you, not on brightly-colored or busy attire, even if the restaurant is a trendy one.

Ties
Ties should be conservative, as a general rule. Pick one in a neutral color that coordinates with your suit and shirt. If the tie has a pattern, make sure it is understated. If you wear a button-down shirt and slacks, you can opt for a tie or not. If you are unsure how to dress, choose to wear a tie. You might be overdressed for the job you are applying for, but you will not make a negative impression as you would if you were dressed too casually.

Shoes
Shoes should be in good repair. Choose a neutral shade and ensure the shoes are free of dust, dirt and and scuffs. Men and women should always choose close-toed shoes, and women should not wear a heel that exceeds more than two inches. Flats are acceptable. Absolutely no flip-flops, sandals, tennis shoes or beach shoes should be worn to a restaurant interview, even in the most casual of environments.

Miscellaneous
Whether you are a man or woman, you should be well groomed. If you plan on working in a restaurant, good hygiene is a must. Make sure you are bathed and have applied deodorant and brushed your teeth. Your hair should be neatly styled and your fingernails should be clean and trimmed. Keep jewelry to a minimum and avoid perfumes or colognes in case your interviewer is sensitive to fragrances. Don't chew gum. Make sure your clothes are neatly pressed.

What are some trendy and cute teen shoes right now?

Q. I'm 13 and I want to know what are trendy and cute shoes for gr. 8 going back to school.
I know, I know, it's what I think looks good, but I want to know your opinion.

Thanks

A. Sperry's boat shoes, Gladiator sandals, and Havaianas flip flops (very comfortable flip flops).

How can I make this DULL work requirement trendy and something fun?
Q. We have an event coming up at work where we're going to be required to wear a button up shirt and khaki pants. This so isn't my style. We cannot wear sandals or tennis-shoes. I'll be on my feet all day, so low heels or flats will be my likely option for feet. How do you recommend I spice this incrediably dull outfit up?

A. Wear a white, kind of ruffly in the front, button down shirt. Wear a yellow or red pearl necklace and black or brown khaki pants! That will make you stand out.
Also, wear a black or red or brown vest with a white shirt. Wear red, brown or yellow khaki pants with the black shirt or black or brown ka=hakis with a red shirt. Wear one inch heels that are very comfortable. Accesorize with poppy earrings, and a watch or necklace! OMG! I would hate to wear that. Good luck!

Can a girl that looks like a boy be cute?

Q. Okay I know this is probably stupid to ask just please help me. I'm a girl with really short hair and I dress like a boy. I like to dress like a girl sometimes but I think my face and hair clash with the clothes. I don't think it's very possible for me to look cute. Please help.

A. Oh hon, I'm sorry you think you aren't cute. If I was a betting person, I would bet you are cute.

Yes, I do think some girls that look like a boy are cute.

Here are a few things to think about to bring out your feminity to make you even cuter than what you already are:

One thing you may want to consider is letting your hair grow a little longer if you really like it short. You can still have a cute short hair cut if you prefer short short hair.

Another thing you may want to consider is wearing feminine accessories like pretty jewelry, carry a cute bag (handbag) and wear pretty scarves, and even cute shoes, and other feminine accessories.

Another thing you may want to consider is wearing some make-up, not dramatic at all though. I suggest going to the make-up section at a mall and tell someone you want a make-over and that you don't won't a dramatic look.

Have you thought of wearing just plain, comfortable girl's clothes? There is a huge variety of them out there. And there is a huge variety of very trendy cute girl's clothes at very good prices.

I really hope this helps hon. And another thing, these things will help you acquire the confidence you seem to need and make you feel better about yourself --- and this is not a stupid question. We all feel better when we have a different look and change is good!

It is very posssible for you to look even cuter than what you do now!

I sincerely hope I've helped.

God bless you dear,
Jewels

I just got a job, what type of clothes are acceptable?

Q. I just got a job with the census bureau and for training, they ask that you wear business casual attire. I'm 19 and never really had to dress any certain way at any other jobs so if someone could tell me what is considered business casual attire then that would be great!

Thanks for any help.

A. Business casual is crisp, neat, and should look appropriate even for a chance meeting with a CEO. It should not look like cocktail or party or picnic attire. Avoid tight or baggy clothing; business casual is classic rather than trendy.
Basics:
Khaki or dark pants, neatly pressed, and a pressed long-sleeved, buttoned solid shirt are safe for both men and women. Women can wear sweaters; cleavage is not business-appropriate (despite what you see in the media). Polo/golf shirts, unwrinkled, are an appropriate choice if you know the environment will be quite casual, outdoors or in a very hot location. This may not seem like terribly exciting attire, but you are not trying to stand out for your cutting edge look, but for your good judgment in a business environment.
Shoes / belt:
Wear a leather belt and leather shoes. Athletic shoes are inappropriate.
Cost / quality:
You are not expected to be able to afford the same clothing as a corporate CEO. However, do invest in quality that will look appropriate during your first two or three years on the job for a business casual environment or occasions.
Details:
Everything should be clean, well pressed, and not show wear. Even the nicest khakis after 100 washings may not be your best choice for a reception. Carefully inspect new clothes for tags, and all clothes for dangling threads, etc. (as with interview attire).
Use common sense.
If there are six inches of snow on the ground and/or you are rushing to get to an information session between classes and you left home 12 hours earlier, no one will expect you to show up looking ready for a photo shoot they'll just be happy you made it. Just avoid wearing your worst gym clothes and jeans. If you show up at an event and realize you're not as well dressed as you should be, make a quick, pleasant apology and make a good impression with your interpersonal skills and intelligent questions.

Can anyone point me to an official definition of Capri pants and cropped pants?
Q. My workplace outlaws Capri pants but not cropped.

A. Although I don't see much difference in them, I found this article that explains the "differences"....

By Becky Cairns
Standard-Examiner staff
bcairns@standard.net

Put on your fashion caps, folks, and answer this puzzler: What is the difference between capri pants and crop pants?

a. Capris are always black; crops are always khaki

b. Capris are loose and baggy; crops are skintight

c. Capris have cuffs; crops do not

d. Capris and crops are both shorter than regular pants.

You're not a fashion dunce if you didn't answer "D," although exactly how much shorter these pants are is up for discussion.

Capris generally hit just below the knee or at midcalf; crops fall about three-fourths of the way down the calf or near the ankle.

More specifically, capris are around 19 to 21 inches long and crops 24 to 25 inches long, says Leanne Furman, a spokeswoman for Mervyn's in Hayward, Calif.

"The terms crops and capris are almost used interchangeably," Furman said in a phone interview.

Cynthia Nellis, a fashion writer for the about.com Web site, agrees, explaining, "Crops, in my definition, are longer; capris, in my version, are shorter."

However, the term "crop" is also a catch-all phrase that describes all sorts of shorter pants, be they pedal pushers, floods, clamdiggers or high waters, Nellis said in a phone interview from Dallas.

As with fashion sizing, there is no standardization of these terms, Nellis says. One company's capris may well be another company's crops.

Capris were introduced in the 1950s by designer Emilio Pucci at a boutique on the island of Capri, off the coast of Italy.

By the '60s, the short, slim-fitting pants were catching the eye of fashionable folk like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy and Mary Tyler Moore.

Both capris and crops -- a more recent innovation -- have become popular in the last three to six years, in part as an alternative to shorts, Furman says.

Pants of all types are popular nowadays, Furman says, and shorts, which "don't hide as much as some people might like," are in a downswing.

Nellis says capris and crops allow women to "show off a little bit of leg," and it's generally a flattering part of the leg -- the lower calf and ankle.

Although crops and capris used to be primarily casual wear, they can be dressed up for career fashions, too.

Crop pants teamed with a sweater-set top and low-heeled shoes could go to the office for casual dress day. Or a trendy look this fall will be tweed-like crops with coordinating jackets, Furman says.

Crops and capris can be worn by all ages and sizes of folks, Nellis says. The pants aren't strictly for women, either. Some designers make shorter-length pants for men. Nellis says that's fun because "men don't get a lot of variation in their styles."

The short pants are as versatile as jeans, Nellis says, because they can be worn with all types of tops, from T-shirts to camisoles.

How do you dress cute, but not girly?

Q. I work with a lot of older women, and I want to dress professional but not boring but not childish either because I want to be taken seriously
Like the girls on the Hills but not as expensive. They dress cute but not childish or slutish right?

A. 1] buy clothes that flatter your figure and coloring, not just 'hot' items
2] buy things that coordinate without being to matchy-matchy
[ like brown leather jacket with brown tweed top of knee skirt = cute and professional, but not girly or boring ]
3] trends in tops usually blend into office wear better than any 'funky' [ puddle pants, very high waists, skinny jeans, micro minis, hooker stilettos, sky high platforms ] bottoms or shoes. They are also cheaper, overall!
4] add some interesting belts to a 'boring' outfit - chain, lace, velvet, patent leather, woven, crocodile.
5] wear interesting shoes - different heel heights, colors, textures, [ velvet, quilted, etc. ]. No open toes, or sandals.
6] wear trendy costume jewelry [ not juvenile! ]. Avoid plastic beads, etc. Try various precious metals, and modern set stones for rings, earrings.
7] grown up hair - ponytail with a barette - yes, with a scrunchie or banana clip - no; pigtails - no.
french braid or single braid - yes, double braids - no
pulled back with barette or leather or fabric band - yes, plastic headband - no.

What should you say on the phone to a job you applied for to see about your application?
Q. I applied for a job and I want to see what's going on, but I'm not really sure what to say when I call.

A. Persistence and etiquette go a long way in applying for a job.
Give a call and ask to speak to the Human Resource manager or the office manager or owner depending on the type of business.
Be sure to get their name and correct spelling.
If they are unavailable ask as to when they would be.
It is not always advisable to tell the person who you are and the nature of your call because they may be what is referred to as a gate keeper, meaning their job is to screen what is and isn't important and they can be very subjective in their view.
Ask the person in charge if they have received your application and if everything was in order or is there additional information they need.
Inquire as to what the time frame is as to when they plan to finalize a decision.
Tell the person you are looking forward to setting up an interview and thank them for their time.
If you do not have their correct street address and spelling of the name for the person with whom you spoke call back and ask it of the person answering the phone, and or check on line.
Write out a simple thank you card- (you can even pick up packs at a Dollar store or for a few bucks at a retailer)
Your note should read
Dear Mr/Mrs_______
Thank you for taking my call on date_____
It was a pleasure speaking with you.
I look forward to meeting you in person when we schedule an interview.
Sincerely
Name______
Telephone #_________
Email____________
Not those exact words are necessary but a polished cool professional approach.
After your interview be sure to send a second thank you.
Dear________
It was a pleasure meeting you.
I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with Company name______________, and know I would be an asset to you.
Thank you for taking the time to review my application/resume as well as the interview.
Sincerely
Name________
Phone#_________
Email__________________
All ways be sure to be polite.
Hold yourself confidently in your body posture, not cocky but assured of yourself.
(Smile, have good eye contact, shake the persons hand, sit up in the chair, speak in clear complete sentences, no snorts, eye rolls or ya sure, no ticks like tapping, shaking a foot, etc)
Dress professionally.
A clean ironed solid color button down shirt is preferred with a clean properly fitting pair of pants. This works for both men and women in most setting.
Anything baggy, dragging the ground, ripped, see through, to short, showing skin and tattoos is out.
No thong underwear or ones that have a panty line or show though (dont go without underwear though) or bras that create lines and bulges.
No cloths that are being held together by safety pins, tape or unmatched thread.
If the pants dont stay around your waist with the shirt tucked in then dont wear them.
Women can wear the tail of their shirt out if it is presentable.
A simple belt is fine but nothing drastic, like studs and skulls, with chains hanging.
Keep make- up simple and light. Jewelry to a minimum.
Any piercing other then an ear should be taken out.
Hair neat and clean- no spikes, colors or greasy gels.
Shoes should be clean and in good shape- shoe polish can do a lot to dress up worn shoes.
A darker shoe like black or brown is best and not real trendy and chunky.
For a woman a hand bag that is small to medium matching her out fit or black, brown or tan in a simple design is best.
No Gum.
Be sure you have eaten before you go, have brushed your teeth, and have mints in your pocket.
If these clothing choices are not in your closet get them. You can find them even at thrift stores which won't kill your pocket book.
It is best to have two shirts in case you get called back for a second interview.
A rule of thumb is wear the lighter color of shirt first, color can intimidate or give the wrong first impression in an interview.
These may sound silly or simple, but there a lot people passed over for these simple reasons.
Carry a pen and a copy of your resume. If you do not have a resume create one. There are a number of simple templates on line check around like schools and job centers for free help in creating resumes.

In modern times what qualities does the Japanese culture think of as beautiful in a woman?
Q. im doing an adaptation of every man with Japanese influences. what would the modern Japanese society say constitutes a beautiful person.im looking for a physical description. i know women like to have larger eyes, even having surgery to get them, and some wear contacts that are light. also who in there society would be an extremely wise and knowledgeable person?

A. Japanese female beauty trends and subcultures:

- Large eyes
- thin and well-projected nose bridge
- prominent chin.
- small face
- bleached white teeth
- Thin body, big beasts, hairless body
- Trendy eyebrow looks
- Healthy look
- Jutting shoulders, angled elbows and hips
- crescent eyebrows
- bleached hair
- makeup enhancing the eyes
- modern (western) hairstyles.
- high heel shoes
- Traditional clothing (kimono) made modern
- Nape of the neck is a erotic part of the body
- Cute appearance through frilly or child-like clothing with small body
- High voice
- Some girls imitate animes with over the top dresses and accessories that sometimes contrast strikingly. (Example: Lolita fashion style)
- sexy fit body (meant to be sexual and sassy intimidation for men)
- Goth styles are popular
- miniskirts
- b-girls (Japanese girls wear ethnic clothes and frizzy hair styles common among African Americans. They also tan their bodies)
- certain youth sub-cultures are aimed at shocking or intimidating portraying sexual power

The Japanese view wisdom and silence as more important than knowledge. There emperor is viewed as very wise and knowledgeable but also discreet in his manner. Men are perceived as more wise or knowledgeable than women. The father is still the head of the house and has the most power.

Stylish a Fashion Guide for Plus Size Petite Women?

Q. Is there anything you think a plus-sized woman should avoid, and why? ... That being said, all big women, though, should wear form-fitting clothes.

A. Here are some tips to keep a classic style while sensation youthful:

Choose solids whenever wearing trousers, skirts as well as jackets -- whitened, black, khaki, dark chocolate brown, actually olive green.

Put on or have cardigan knit tops or sexy dresses to cover stomach fat and stay comfortable in air-conditioned locations. Loose fitted is better than restricted. I tend to put on a camisole or even textured t-shirt beneath my sexy dresses. My shops of choice tend to be Banana Republic as well as Anne Taylor or even Anne Taylor Attic, where I'm able to often find several trendy items (on sale) to decorate my traditional wardrobe. A lot of women find Talbots as well as Chico's preferable, because they cater to the actual middle-aged woman's determine; i.at the. the middle.

Purchase comfortable footwear. You can find fashionable and trendy footwear made by Clarks, Munro, Merrell, Rockport and various other manufacturers. I've bought comfy high heel shoes made by Tahari that do not squeeze the life span out of my personal feet. However i make sure the foot area is actually wide sufficient and made of material or gentle leather. In addition, I buy the 7 or even 7 1/2 rather than 6 1/2 nowadays.

Accessorize along with bold jewellery. Big drops are all the trend but if you are middle-aged they might overcome you. Select wisely. My personal mother shines in handmade and very jewelry through Swarovski. But you will find similar types of costume jewellery in Talbots, Angel Taylor, Banana Republic, Chico's along with other shops. If you are short much like me, big jewellery is overwhelming. With regard to taller ladies, bolder is most likely better.

Where can a woman with size 12 WIDE feet find a variety of quality, trendy, comfortable selection of shoes??
Q. I've got big feet... I hate "Coward" and catalogs like it that have a large variety of what I term "old lady shoes". I wear a size 12 wide. Just to give you an idea of what I like - I love my dansko clogs (mens) and birkenstock sandals, but I want something more slighty feminine. I wish I could wear Sketchers...but they're too small. <sigh>

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

What to wear at the office with a pinstripe suit?
Q. I like dark grey suits with white vertical pinstripes for business wear. I have also worn solid dark blue ones for variety, but I like grey ones better. White broadcloth shirts are most formal, but there may be alternatives that are still sober and dignified. What colors and patterns of shirts and ties do you suggest for my formal business look? How about shoes? For bonus points, what brands and models of watches would you wear with such a business ensemble? It seems that magazines have recommended many tres gauche combos, and celebrities have worn many tasteless ones, so people are confused about proper dress now. Some people who have answered questions in this category have good taste, but some do not.
Doesn't anyone know something about proper dress for business? Surely someone works in a proper and conservative office as I have. I see some people recommending garish and tasteless ensembles, somewhat along the lines of stuff Woody Allen once wore to be ridiculous, but now, other celebrities wear worse stuff and don't know or don't care if it is tasteless.
I want to see what people say about watches. For business, Simple is best, so "Cellinis' are the Rolexes proper to wear with suits. I saw one recently for $3650. My basic dress watches by Cartier, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe cost $10,700 to $15,000 now. I have 2 Rolex sports watches. The gold bracelet "OP Datejust" cost $13,150 in 1994. My Breguet "Marine" cost $29,500. The most complicated Rolex is a "Cosmograph Daytona" chronograph. I think a new on in gold costs $19,450. The ultimate single complication is chimes, e.g, a $507,000 Vacheron Constantin "30010" platinum skeleton minute repeater. I have written seeral books about watches. I am working on the 4th edition of "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". Rolex places 41st now. In earlier editions, it was 18th to 24th. Breguet was costliest with Patek philippe 2nd, Vacheron constantin 3rd and A. Lange & Sohne 4th. A new brand Richard Mille wins now.
My coloring shows my 2 Cherokee grandmothers, i.e black hair with red highlights (some grey around the ears since age 17), ruddy bronze tanned skin plus brown eyes. when i was age 10, we went to a Cherokee village at the foot of the Smoky mountains. The Indians nearly kept me. Dad was amused. They didn't notice my siblings who have olive skins and medium brown hair. I look Cherokee, but they do not.

A. *laugh*

Ok.. first off, dark grey and white is pretty neutral as it can get. You could pretty much go for most colours, but I'd suggest lighter colours rather than the medim>dark colors. Why? because medium shades might be too intense against the contrast of the dark suit, and dark colored shirts will blend in too much... might make you look too .. dull.

Now, it depends on your skintone what colors look best on you. If you're light skinned, there are certain shades that will bring out your coloring, versus if you were dark or olive skinned. Without your notes on coloring, I can't really suggest any colours or any shades of colors... (example: yellows might make olive skin look too strange and dull, but the light blues/greens will bring olive skintones out) That's not a hard and fast rule because a very pale shade of yellow might look stunning against you, just not a green-yellow or a blue-yellow.. it's all relative in how the light hits your skin and bounces off the suit.

As for shirts/ties.. the general rule is that if your shirt is busy or bright, go for a neutral tie.

example: pinstriped suit, a light green shirt with faint white checks in it (not plaid..please), means you wear a tie that's a light grey/silver to pick up the white in the pinstripe, or even have a tie that's a mix of greens and silvers or a pattern to really bring out the shirt. You can go kind of crazy in terms of slick patterns with the ties (checks, stripes, light dots), but nothing like saxophones or weird babies on the front please... Spend up to about $100/tie, in a neutral silver or offsilver colour and it'll go with pretty much any shirt/suit combo.

As for shoes, if you have cash to blow, go to a high end store like Holt Renfrew in Toronto (depending on where you are, ask a woman..) and get a black and a brown pair of shoes, in real leather that are comfortable, and the same height (so that your pants will hang at the same height each time)

THen you'll need to get your pinstriped suit tailored to fit you perfectly, and to get the tailor to put a proper break in your pants so that they sit well over your new shoes. I like the Gucci loafers for men... if you can't afford high end, go to a place like a department store, or Aldos, or any place that sells trendy but decently done shoes.

The best watch? Rolex of course. Then Gucci or Prada. If you can't afford that, you could even go to Walmart and pick out a gorgeous smoked-grey face watch with a clean, silver band that would look great with your grey pinstriped suit. You can also try Fossil watches for a lower-end alternative that will last almost forever.

What kind of shoes to wear to cold, outdoor wedding?

Q. I will be traveling to Washington state for a fall beach wedding, which will probably be pretty windy and cold so sandals are out. It's not a super fancy affair, somewhere between casual and dressy (like nice sweater, skirt or dressy jeans). But anyway, I'm not really sure what kind of shoes to wear because of the cold, the sand and trying to look nice. Any ideas?

Color boat shoes, girly or not? ?

Q. My parents ordered me a pair as a surprise! Don't know what they were thinking. Anyways, I'm a guy, 6'1 and 230 lbs. I wear a lot of colored light and dark colored shirts with khakis. I wear boat shoes with very low sox or no socks. They said the kind they got me the thought are good for summer. Anyways, here's the link http://www.sperrytopsider.com/commonimages/sperry/490px/0799023_1_490x300.jpg
Let me know if you guys think these are girly or not. I'm in high school by the way. Thanks!
I meant light and dark colored coller shirtssorry

A. When you said "color boat shoes", I thought you meant they were going to be 'English Racing Green', or 'Bubblegum Pink' or something!

That's a nice, neutral, sand color = neutral = great.

Sperry Topsiders are cute and I personally think they reveal quite a lot about the man (or woman) wearing them. They're classic. Comfortable. Not trendy. I think they sound perfect.

They have another neutral color that's a little darker (resembles Palomino leather interior on the BMW Z4 convertible <ha>) = a classic, sun-darkened tan leather) which I love. Sperrys can be returned if purchased at Nordstrom (or any large department store) and swapped out for another color, if the customer wants to. If they're purchased directly from Sperry, they'll do exchanges/returns and they'll cover the shipping. You just would have to phone them. Their customer service rep will send you a postage-paid label for returns.

I think they're really cute and there's nothing feminine about them. (Even though women wear them)..they're classic. Sperry Topsiders speak volumes..they really do. It's a sort of, effortless and easy way to indicate one is of a certain caliber = degree of excellence.

Places to get awesome unique clothes?
Q. Besides Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Delias, Forever 21....? Vintagey stuff/ recycled clothing places are good too. Can be online stores also, thanks.
Also, where to get a really unique oversized bag, messenger bag, thing that I can use as a backpack.

P.S. I don't wear animal products, (leather, suede, fur...)

A. Here are a few unique online stores that I often frequent. They are around the price range of the stores you listed:

1. Ruche (this charming little vintage online store. they just started up, so there isn't such a wide selection, but some of the stuff they do have is nice):
http://www.shopruche.com/index.php

2. LuLu's:
http://lulus.com/

3. Chinese Laundry (one of my favorite places to go for unique footwear. it's a bit more expensive, but if you want to find a fabulous, statement shoe, this is definitely a place to check out):
http://www.chineselaundry.com/index.asp?sess=073108107157573238

4. Baghaus (fabulous, FABULOUS bags. you can find some really affordable ones and they have sales and markdowns often):
http://www.baghaus.com/

5. Cutesygirl (definitely a favorite shopping destination for trendy shoes on the cheap. their selection is mind blowing and the prices are hard to beat. they also have clothing, lingerie, bags and accessories making them a one-stop shop for all your fashion cravings):
http://www.cutesygirl.com/
I mean, check out how CHEAP these flats get:
http://stores.channeladvisor.com/cutesyshoes/store/search.aspx?sck=66714213&Page=1&sort=2&key=flats&sp=0.00&ep=9.99

6. Plasticland (to fulfill your inner retro-indie-rocker...it's not that cheap, but won't break the bank either. it's very unique and quirky):
http://www.shopplasticland.com/

7. YesStyle (i come here occasionally):
http://www.yesstyle.com/en/Women.aspx

8. GoJane (...has EVERYTHING):
http://gojane.com/

Hope this helped! We're in the same boat here...a couple of years ago I was bored of shopping in the same mall stores as everyone else, and spent my time looking for unique pieces. These are my top 8 online shops, and I hope you like them too :)

Where can I find fashionable plus size shoes?

Q. Does anyone know where I can buy either in a store or online trendy plus size shoes like for a size 12 womans foot? Every website I find has real ugly and outdated shoes. HELPP!
anddd... I'm not a monster, I'm just really tall at 6'1 so its hard for me to find tall lengths and bigger shoes =(

A. I believe Payless goes up to a 13. Nordstrom is always a good bet - they started out as a hard to find shoe specialist, way back when, and have kept that aspect of their business up even after re-focusing to fashion.

There are quite a few more listed in our shoe directory, that notes sizes (and widths) at:

What could I wear to make my torso and/or legs longer?
Q. I'm short and I don't want to look all squished together
btw I'm 15

I have the pointy heels :)

A. From Your Feet Up:

Shoes:
One way to elevate your stature is by wearing height-increasing footwear or apparatuses such as lifts, thicker insoles, elevator shoes, and shoes with thicker soles. These can all easily add a few inches to your height.

Shopping tip: When shopping for shoes, try sticking to bulkier styles so that your feet don't look too small.

Shirts:
Avoid wearing blazers and cardigans with more than three buttons because they will draw unwanted attention to your shorter upper body. Also, make sure that your blazers and jackets fall slightly below your buttocks, as this will make your body look slightly more elongated. While you should try to avoid double-breasted suits, if you do choose to wear one, do up all the buttons (including the lower ones), as this will give you a longer look.

Also, when wearing a sports jacket, make sure there's as little contrast between your jacket and trousers as possible, to maintain the natural vertical lines. Center and side vents also add the effect of a prolonged vertical line.

In terms of sweaters and T-shirts, V-necks can help make your torso look longer. Turtlenecks, on the other hand, can make you look stumpy, as they conceal your neck.

Look for formfitting shirts in order to avoid excess fabric when tucking them in and opt for point collars instead of spreads. Finally, keep in mind that tucking in your shirt can place the emphasis on your legs and torso, which might make you look shorter.

Shopping tip: Shortening the length of a shirt is generally easier than reducing the length of its sleeves, so make sure the shirt fits properly around your shoulders and body, first and foremost. If it does, then you can have the overall length and the sleeves adjusted.

Pants:
Do not wear your pants too high; you should wear them just above your hips. Also, avoid wearing low-rise pants (even if they are the trendier alternative), as they tend to make legs look shorter than they already are.

Furthermore, avoid any kind of puckering around the hips, from tucking in your shirts or having full pockets, as it will make you look wider and hence, shorter.

Your trousers should break on your shoes slightly more than average, to help make your legs look longer by covering your socks properly.

It's also suggested to shun cuffs altogether. If you do decide to wear them, have your tailor hem them slightly more narrow than normal (that is, 1¼ inches instead of the usual 1½ to 2 inches). Finally, keep in mind that pants with no pleats or a single pleat are more flattering than multiple pleats.

Shopping tip: If you can't find any pants that fit properly, you can always have them custom-made or visit a specialty store near you.

Accessories:
When it comes to accessories, shorter men should avoid bow ties. Instead, they should wear narrower ties; solid, and regimental and diagonal patterns work best. Also, choose the less intrusive four-in-hand knot over the bulkier Windsor variety.

When buying a belt, remember that you can have it adjusted to any length by simply adding more holes. A belt that doesn't have holes is even easier, as it's fully adjustable for a perfect fit.

Finally, keep in mind that suspenders can emphasize your natural vertical line, so avoid them.

Shopping tip: Again, you can find many stylish accessories in special catalogs, at local specialty stores, or in the boys' section of larger department stores. If you're having trouble finding socks that fit, you can always give the socks in the women's department a try.

Just Look Good!

Just remember that the key is not necessarily to look as tall you can, but to look as good as you can. The proper fit and the right styles can make you look great, regardless of your height.

I have big feet. How am I to find a pair of descent, good-looking shoes with feet as big as mine??

Q. It's like this, I go to a shoe store & all of he shoes there are so trendy and everything. So, for feet as big as mine, I cant find one that I'm satisfied with. I wear sport shoes to school. And that ain't comfortable.

A. YOU DIDN'T SAY WHAT SIZE AND IT'S NOT NECESSARY FOR ME TO KNOW. GO ONLINE AND TRY MASON SHOES, MORDSTROM'S, CLOUD CLIMBERS, LANE BRYANT AND FOR DISCOUNT SHOES AND BOOTS TRY JESSICA LONDON. EACH COMPANY LISTED HAS CATALOGS ONLINE AND IN PAPER. THE SIZES RANGE FROM NARROW TO EXTRA WIDE AND THEY HAVE YOUNG UP TO DATE SELECTIONS FOR THE MOST PART. THERE ARE SOME SPECIALTY SHOE STORES OUT HERE TOO. JUST BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF AND SURF THE NET. TRY "LARGE SIZE SHOES FOR WOMEN" FOR INITIAL WEB SEARCH AND TAKE IT FROM THERE.

2011 back to school fashion?

Q. i was wondering what are the musts for back to school, im going in to 8th grade?? like what is the big thing this year?? and when i go back to school shopping what should i get?? okk thanks!

A. I'm going to 8th too! *High Fives* :)

Must haves:

Jeans- (2-3), in a style you like. Skinny jeans are trendy, but bootcuts are making a comeback.

Shorts- (2-3), for summer. Mix up the types of fabric, like don't stick with denim. Bright colors are really in, so I suggest getting maybe 2 pairs in a cool color like yellow/red. You can wear these with a plain, tucked in top with a skinny belt. Super cute!

Skirts- (2), go for ruffles and florals, kinda like what I said about the shorts.

Cardigans- (2-3), go for a plain white/black/grey one that you can wear with anything, then 1-2 in a fun bright color! Cardigans can dress up and down outfits, and are a nice touch to just about any outfit.

Tops- (Go crazy). You can never have enough! Don't forget the basic camis. Lace, ruffles, crop tops, and florals are really in right now. Also, to go with the trendy bohemian look, try flowy tops with a cool cut. Off the shoulder tops are also cute, especially when they're cropped.

Trends this year:

Color blocking: This is when you use a bright color to spruce up an outfit, for example wearing a bright red shoe with a plain black outfit. Fun colors are awesome, don't be afraid of them though!

Bohemian: Braids, florals, drapery, you know it.

Tribal: Tribal prints are really big, as well as feathers- as earrings, in your hair, etc.

Check out stores like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. They have super trendy clothing, for pretty good prices.

Hope this helped!

Key fashion for spring/summer 11?
Q. What would you say is essential for this season.
What colour dresses for parties green?
Hair accesories?
Makeup?
What sort of shoes?
Shorts/skirts/dresses?
High waist trousers/ jeans?
Hairstyles?
What are you moat excited about this season and bulid a outfit at the bottom which you think best reptesnts this season and get 10 poits
And what will you be wearing

A. I did a complete guide on spring fashion trends on the runways:
http://heyyysunshine.blogspot.com/2011/02/spring-2011-runway-highlights-trends.html

Out of all of these trends my favorite would have to be the feminine look. I love ruffles, lace, florals, and volume! I think the pretties color of the season is Pantone's 2011 Color of the Year: Honeysuckle. Flatforms have made a huge comeback but I don't know if I can pull them off instead I'll just go with a trendy wedge or cute pointed flats. Fuller skirts, high-waisted shorts, and a sheath or shirt dresses pulled together with a cinch belt would be a cute look i might wear. Dainty flower hair accessories would be a nice touch in a tousled back messy bun. I hear that going darker, golden, or reddish is hot this season so I think I'm going to get golden highlights to lighten up my look! I'm not so sure with make up but I know that with nail polish hot colors are like an earthy color (essie st. tropez) and a tiffany box or robin's egg blue.

My husband is taking me clothes shopping and?

Q. I don't know what to get. I need practically everything. I have been dieting and exercising for about 3 months and have lost a lot of weight, but still am kinda chubby in my belly. I'm still working on it. I don't want to spend a ton of money since I'm still working on the weight but my "fat" clothes are too big. I don't know what's in style for a woman my age (37). I want casual and trendy, not old and stuffy. I do know this. Because of my big belly I CANNOT do the babydoll style shirts that are so cute now because they make me look pregnant when I'm not. I can't do knits or anything too clingy. I don't want polos or button down shirts because that's too stuffy for me, I'm more into casual stuff. HELP! Can you put together a cute outfit for me? Top, pants and shoes. I don't know what size I am now since I've lost so much, probably a women's size 12. Thanks!

A. Get some pairs of cute KNIT pants with elastic waists, and some tee-shirts and tank tops ... and to go with those, you'll want a few nice scarves, some 'chains' for your neck and wrists, and a nice pair of 'flat shoes' like 'tassel loafers' or slip-on 'athletic shoes' ... a nice blazer would 'dress you up' if you get one tee shirt with some 'sparkles' on it, and wear that with a scarf and your chains ... or you can 'dress down' and wear just the shirt and pants and either pair of shoes, and you'll look STUNNING wherever you go.

what is considered beautiful in New Zealand?
Q. I really would like to know what is considered beautiful in new zealand. I am writing a paper on fashion and beauty in new zealand. please help me

A. Good luck on that one. There seems to be two ways of dressing here for females. Up to about age 30, dress is very "trendy" and pretty much anything goes. Sometimes you wonder what the heck they were thinking. After about age 30, they switch into dowdy matronly mode with ugly shoes and drab colors. A few women seem to be able to put things together to look nice and still be fashionable.

Men: shorts, tee shirt, jandals, or (for work) black socks and slip on black steel toed boots, or gumboots. Accessories would be any article in fluoresent yellow/green. And a hat. Oh, there are some that wear dress clothes to work, but once they get home....

Can Dansko clogs be fashionable? What do you think about them style-wise?

Q. I tend to dress fashionably (or so I think!) but I really want to boost my height with a pair of comfy shoes (not stilettos!). So I'm wondering if Dansko clogs are the way to go. Please let me know what you think of them, are they super dorky, only for nurses, or can you wear them in a trendy way? Thanks so much for replying.

A. Um...well, I happen to love my Dansko clogs. But they do seem a bit dorky if you aren't wearing them with long pants. One thing you need to think of is that Dansko is both expensive and can really hurt your feet if you're not used to wearing them all day.
Why not go for some cute wedges to boost your height? Or you could try enjoying the fact that you're small. Guys like small girls, they think you're a damsel in distress or something because you can't reach the top shelf or touch the ceiling! lol.

where can i buy smaller sized 4 - 5 fashionable mens shoes that don't look like there out of the kids shop!!?
Q. I'm male with small feet, size 4 to 5 disaster trying to get smart shoes like brouges, or trendy styles, just not possible as shoe shops just don't catter for me, the only shop that did was "RAVEL" which has been taken over by "CLARKS" and they've stoped selling the range for smaller mens feet, thanks clarks i don't rate you at all.

A. Wow, I was looking special made shoes and ran into this question.

But I have the opposite problem, a foot that's a size 17 and 1/2 !!!!

I'm more than TRIPLE your shoe size :( ... yet both have the same problem of no shoes. I need dress shoes desperately but nothing comes big enough for my massive peds.

Good luck to US.

What makeup and hair should I do for a formal dance?

Q. We have this dance coming up soon and I want to look really pretty but not overdone. I want to look mysterious but also soft. I want to make sure that I look like the best one there. Pictures are greatly appreciated!
Ok I have brown hair and dark brown eyes. My skin is tan and it is a hawaiian dance. My dress is turquoise above the knee and I am wearing it with strappy silver sandals.

A. OK! Let's see now! Probably your dress and your shoes are like this, except skin color might be darker.

http://www.sofachip.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/beckinewton.jpg

http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/imageBank/b/Becki-Newton3.jpg

http://www.maxandchloe.com/blog/wp-content/becky_newton2.jpg

The turquoise color is very very difficult to make it suit well.
The first great combination, but very risky to wear it (because you might do something wrong, and this style needs perfection) is green smokey eyes with very hard dark above the lash line. You must do this make up perfectly! Your skin must be perfectly made up so you don't look like you've been up all night studying. Your cheeks must be outstanding dark bronze and your lips natural beige, try to avoid pink lipstick. Here are some pictures for this style. Remember try to avoid pink lipstick ( don't go with turquoise ).

light version of this style: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm318/ebeautyblog/pink_green_makeup_stila.jpg

hard version, but you can do a bit more black and a bit more turquoise color in this make up: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm318/ebeautyblog/pink_green_makeup_stila.jpg

nice version that will suit good if you have type of Chinese eyes :) http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l210/nicnic888/green_smokey3.jpg

The hair look with this style is perfectly straight hair, with gloss :) like the left picture

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/stylewatch/blog/070402/halle_berry_400x300.jpg

BUT the best way to don't mess something up is to go with the variant : classic smokey eyes

but, you must start like:

http://www.nzgirl.co.nz/images/articles/story/smokey-eye-adj.jpg

then go to this:

http://lipsticklife.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/smoky-eye-thumb.jpg

smudge it with a bit turquoise color , but don't make this darker :

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/2370/smokey2zs5.jpg

is not trendy!

If your eyes are pretty close you can try this kind of smokey eyes, we call it "lighter in the center" smokey eye look:

http://janedoemakeup.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/good.jpg

After all don't put black in your inner line of your eye, try to put white pencil or eye shadow. Look this picture it will help:

http://fc77.deviantart.com/fs32/f/2008/221/b/6/smokey_eye_stock_by_Green_Woman_Stock.jpg

make it hard white.

THE CHEEKS make it always be outstanding hard bronze, and lips natural color with gloss.

That's all, only about your hair musr be really perfectly straight or like this:

http://www.wallpaperez.net/wallpaper/movie/Good-Luck-Chuck-Jessica-Alba-1013.jpg

Your earrings must be long , long , long like this:

or

http://kiwijewels.com/p_images/earrings/gemstone_earrings/gemstone_earrings_turquoise.jpg

MUSTN'T WEAR necklace with big, long, earrings. It's silly and not trendy!

Wear big rings and beautiful accessorize:

http://nighthawkgems.net/TibetanTurquoise%20Bangle%20Bracelet1.jpg

Don't mix gold and silver NEVER :)

Good luck :)

Hope will help

Is there such thing as Trendy Orthopedic Athletic shoes?
Q. I'm a 34 year old woman who works in a business casual setting. Can anyone help with finding trendy orthopedic shoes? My Dr says I need to wear gym shoes while treating my planter faciitis but it seems difficult to accessorize around the New Balance shoes??? Puma is trendy but are they ok? I'm going to ask my Dr about them but thought I may get an answer here first. Help please?! Most styles are just too u-g-l-y!

A. Hi,

This question is the reason so many retailers of orthopedic shoes have trouble selling their products to consumers. The answer is quite simple -- yes! Nowadays, orthopedic shoe manufacturers have started bringing in shoe designers to update their shoes. In fact, they try to mirror the current styles of ordinary shoes as much as possible, while preserving the qualities and features that make them orthopedic.

If you are looking for a place to start your search for stylish orthopedic shoes, check out brands such as Orthaheel, Aetrex, Ecco, and Propet.

Is it possible to find ballet flats that someone with high arches can wear?

Q. I love heels, but sometimes I'd like to look fashionable in a pair of trendy cute ballet flats. The problem is they kill my feet. Its odd to say but I'd rather wear heels all day than suffer with those flats on. They have zero arch support and I have really high arches that ache like crazy after an hour or so. Are there any companies out there making a flat shoe with proper arch support? Thanks for your answer and damn these high arches!

A. It is possible! If you want, you can buy from any local drug store like Walgreens Dr. Scholls feet coushins and arch supports. Some of my friends have the same problem as you and they just put the coushins in. Or, you can buy flats that have just a tiny heel. It would help your arch. I would recommend the cousins because then you can just choose any kind of flat you like and just put the coushin in the middle of your shoe. Good luck!

Good luck!

Can you show me what shoes to wear with some designer jeans and a button down shirt.?

Q. I decided to start dressing a little bit more trendier. I have these really nice vintage Polo Jeans and I want to wear them with a nice tight shirt from INC.

What shoes would match that combination? I mean like what specific style?

Can you show me a pic.

A. if there vintage, im assuming you want to keep it casual, so probably something like a pair of P.F. flyers would be good, or some white tennis shoes. http://www.tobi.com/men/home/shop-by-brand/331-pf-flyers

How much money should I spend school shopping?
Q. Im 15 in the 10th grade AndI'm going school shopping soon.
What do I need on my list?
How much money should I spend?
How much do you guys spend?

A. I made this list as a freshman and man did it help. It's kinda like a guide when buying Back-to-school clothes.

buying back to school clothes its definatley a more *ehem* expensive season of the year, but i usually spend about 750.00 or more dollars

I buy

8 jeans
4 dresses
2 skirts
2 leather jackets
15-20 tops
5 cardigans
4 blazers
7 shoes
5 bras
10 underwear
3 tanks
1 polo
gym clothes
a bunch of accessories

But, many kids don't have the luxury of spending 750-800 bucks, so heres my advice.

1) Staple pieces! All girls need staple fall pieces such as jeans, cardigans, blazers and scarves. You see, these are components to a cute outfit. Don't over buy adorable tops and no accessories because the outfit will lose it's cute effect. A simple white tank, and maybe a cute bright blue blazer and a white scarf with blue florals, and a pair of navy skinny jeans is a cute outfit, whereas a cute floral top, and a pair of jeans is an OK outfit. Also, invest in hats because every home run outfit adds a flare with a funky fedora or a chic beret.

2) Try stores like forever 32, charlotte ruse and H&M. Its cheap yet trendy (the golden combo!)

3) When in doubt, chicken out. Yeah, if you are doubtful of an outfit, DONT BUY IT! Trust me, coming from a chick as indecisive as me, i can't tell you how many times i said the outfit i boughtwas cute, but didnt wear it. Be the three C's: confident, comfy, casual.

5) Take advantage of summer deals! Just cause summer is over, it doesnt mean you can't wear the clothes. Abercrombie has adorable shorts that used to be like 50 bucks, and now they are like fifteen! Wear tights under the shorts to keep it warm in the fall :)

6)Don't fall for the new stuff! In my book, last season doesn't exsist. I buy stuff from the clearance aisle that was the cute, new and expensive stuff of the summer, and now it is half the price. Plus, its guranteed NO ONE will have stuff from last season (which is a GREAT thing :)

7) Thrift! There is nothing better than snagging a good deal. Find a local thrift shop and raid those closets. You'll find ador vintage wardrobe that is like 130.00 retail!

8) Mix old and new. Gained a few pounds? No problem! Take those tight jeans and turn them into a cute pair of distressed denim shorts, or a cute crop jacket! theres bound to be a tutorial online for that!

9) Accessorize! Plain white tee just chillin in your closet? Take advantage by pairing it with a cute scarf, a fedora and a colorful blazer. Or try a casual look buy pairing it with boyfriend jeans, and a fedora and a simple fishtail braid.

All in all, heres the basic list:

blazers
cardigans
GOOD, QUALITY jeans. I know forever 21 has 10.50 jeans, but they'll wear out over the course of a month. Jeans should last you until summer, so save the time and money and just buy GOOD jeans.

flats: ahh, flats. They are the best shoes on earth! They're easily the most comfy yet trendy shoe on earth.

accessories: atleast 3 necklaces, 3 rings, 2 bracelets, and 4 pairs of earrings. But, i usually opt for a bit over double that so it depends on the budget.

gym clothes

and of course bras and underwear

It should cost the average high schooler 150.00 or more.

All the best

What are the cutest, warmest, trendiest shoes for this fall and winter?

Q. I want your opinions! What are the coolest (warm) shoes for this coming fall and winter?

A. Uggs

When you wear pants with shoes that are a different color, what color should your hose/socks be?
Q. If you're wearing grey pants with black shoes, do you wear grey hose or black hose? Nude? This is for a dinner event, not a job interview-type event.

Let me be more specific. I'm attending my best friend's dad's retirement dinner party in DC, and am planning on wearing a purple wrap sweater, grey pants, and either pewter colored pointy toed kitten heels (from target) or black pumps (curved toe with some toe clevage, also from Target). Which shoes with what color hose? Or should I forget the pants and go with a black knee-length skirt? I'm so stinking confused!
I can't wear these shoes without hose, I prefer not to have blisters at the end of the night.

A. Ok, with the pewter shoes, I would go with a nylon that matches your skin color. You can wear black with the black pumps or a similar nylon. If you really want to get trendy, you can match the black with a pair of thin and patterned black tights.

The most important thing in this equation is the pant hem. It should fall within a 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the floor. If it doesn't, get them hemmed to the appropriate length. Otherwise you're going to be showing too much of whatever legwear you choose :)
