What to wear for a charity fashion show?

Q. I'm going to attend a charity fashion show for a first time. I'm into fashion but never been at this kind of events. I wonder how people usually dress there? Formal, casual, fleshy, modest, too trendy, tasteful, trashy, designer, retail or all of the above. Is should a dress or it could be a top and pants/jeans. High heels/flats. Pumps/Boots. Thanks!

A. I suggest you wear a nice top and skinny jeans plus boots for your shoes.
Try these Baby Phat boots and get some ideas probably.
Anything that you feel like wearing and you're comfortable with, it's up to you.
Are you a part of the fashion show?
If yes, a dress will be appropriate.
If not, being simple is great too.

How do I dress more high fashion?
Q. I want to start dressing nicer and looking more high fashion/trendy. Opposed to wearing jeans and Hollister/Abercrombie baby dolls with sperrys, or the occasional cardiagan, and t shirts.

How would I go about doing this? What kind of things should I wear, outfits would be nice. I will shop anywhere.

A. The easiest and most impactful place to start is with your shoes. Heels, heels, heels and more heels. Skinny jeans go from casual to high fashion instantly with the simple addition of heels.

How to build a Stylish wardrobe on a budget !!!?

Q. So ive got in a habit of buying plain stuff, like T-shirts and jeans. And either black or white shoes because they go with everything . And I dont have enough money to alot of diffrent shoes . And far as clothes I pick simple tshirts because I feel like really dont ho anywhere fancy .And if I buy something super cute or trendy . 9 times outta 10 .I wont have shoes to wear with it in my closet or any accessories . I wear a size 12 in women and their shoes can be expensive. Im tired of looking dull. How can I build a cute summer wardrobe.

A. You can shop ebay for some cheap but cute clothing.

Otherwise, when you shop for tshirts and plain items, look for things with graphics on the front or go for plain still but bolder colors. You can customise things at home yourself really easily, with tons of ideas on youtube and pintrest. Things like cut outs made into bows, adding ribbons weaved through the fabric to cinch in the waist, tie dying etc.

Folding up your jeans can give you an instantly revamped look, adding studs to leggings, even fabric paint.

Wearing scarves and jewelry pulls together simple outfits really effortlessly.

You can fold up the sleeves on your tshirts for an edgier look, or if you have button up shirts, leave the last couple of buttons undone and tie the shirt in the front.

Have you thought about buying colored blazers or statement jackets, so you don't have to change your wardrobe but have something different to wear with the same outfits?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161000551620?var=460163843345&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Things like this are also really cheap and cute, and can be worn tons of ways. You can wear them loose, cinched in with a belt, tucked into jeans and skirts, tied at the front for a cropped look etc

Black skater skirts are good because they look cute, you can tuck shirts/t's into them, they go well with hooded jackets, blazers, cardigans, and pretty much any shoe.

As for shoes, you could opt for colored sandals, black slipper flats, gladiator sandals etc because they work with pretty much anything.

How can i dress like a preppy girl?

Q. i want to dress preppy now.!any suggestion.!
can you put together a outfit for me?
colors i love-pink,green,yellow
colors i hate-dark purple

A. Personally, I think the best style type is preppy because it is classic and never goes out of style. Here are some basic steps:

1. The attitude: Always present yourself in a nice and welcoming manner. Be polite and courteous with girls, boys, and teachers. Never be snobby and don't try too hard.
2. The clothes: Wear clean cut, classic clothes, but they do not have to be trendy. Places like Abercrombie and Hollister are not preppy, unless you buy the really simple items. Try J.Crew, Lacoste, etc. Wear skirts, khaki, polos, bermuda shorts and bright colors. The staples of the preppy style are oxford shirts, polo shirts, and sweaters/cardigans. anything simple and of a solid color will work! The Jackie Cardigan is also a good, classic choice. Also, try a cute blazer over a simple dress. Also, for jeans, don't have any rips in them. Some good colors for clothes include pastels in pink, blue, green, and yellow or neutrals such as off white and brown.
3. Accessories: Always wear accessories, but not too many. Try pearl jewelry such as pearl studs. Also wear ribbon belts in different colors.
4. Shoes: Clean white tennis shoes are cute, or leather or suede ballet flats. No sneakers or Uggs. If you want boots try leather or suede slouch boots or straight leg boots... classic!
5. Hair: Make sure your hair is always well cleaned and conditioned. Don't do the same thing every day, mix it up! Try ribbons in a ponytail, headbands, and pigtails.
6. Always keep clean: Brush your hair, take care of your teeth, and smell nice.
7. Most importantly.... HAVE CONFIDENCE!!! Focus on your inner beauty and never let anybody tell you who you should be.

How do you picture a 21 yrs old female named Hanni?
Q.

A. My mother's name was Hanny, & she was a fine lady

At 21, mother was in Teachers' College, getting ready to graduate. She taught English in middle school, until a few years before retirement when she transferred to a high school.
My mother, at 21 & through her 20's & early 30's, had shoulder length naturally wavy dark (charcoal black) hair. She always complained that it wasn't very thick, but since it was wavy, I never thought it looked bad.
She had very fair, fine complexion, which she kept moisturized all the time. She used very little makeup, usually rosy red lipstick, no rouge, no eye-shadow. She has to pencil in her eyebrows because they were so sparse, but she refused to rub anything around her eyes (claimed it would cause wrinkles in later years, which was true as she never had much wrinkles even in her 80's)
She was petite, slender with fine bones, but she didn't look like a child. She always wore glasses with fashionable frames, in fact she had several pairs. Her glasses, purses & shoes always matched her clothes. She never went for trendy fashions even in the 1950's & 60's, preferring the more classic lines (maybe that's why she always looked lady-like, & not girlish, even at 21 & petite in size)
She was well-read especially in the children's classics & biographies, enjoyed epic movies & listening to light classical music, like Moonlight Sonata. She met my dad in grade school, never dated anyone else, marrying when she was 25.

That's how I picture Hanny at 21 since I've seen pictures of her at that age, & heard stories from my grandmother & great aunts. Proper but with a wicked sense of dry humor; a Hanny would always perform her duties with aplomb & a touch of fun.

BTW, mother was so proper & a stickler for correct etiquette & deportment, she would be the last person to be a stripper, even at pain of torture & death. We couldn't even use bad grammar, let alone slang or 'bad language', she would haunt me if I even suggested that she would be immodest.

What kind of shoes to wear to cold, outdoor wedding?

Q. I will be traveling to Washington state for a fall beach wedding, which will probably be pretty windy and cold so sandals are out. It's not a super fancy affair, somewhere between casual and dressy (like nice sweater, skirt or dressy jeans). But anyway, I'm not really sure what kind of shoes to wear because of the cold, the sand and trying to look nice. Any ideas?

A. Flat boots..

When traveling to Paris, France, How much money do you usually bring?
Q. How much money should you bring when traveling to France? ( or Paris, France)

A. Depends on how long you stay. I can tell you the general fees for things:

Dining out usually costs on average 15-25 euros per meal (may include a glass of wine or dessert). 25-50 euros for nicer restaurants. And 250 euros for Michelin starred restaurants. Just stay away from tourist traps.. they make them more expensive than it's worth. You can go cheap and get a crepe or kebab off the street for 5 euros. Baquettes/Croissants cost 70 cents to 1.10 euro/each. Bottle water is about 3 euros. Oh and a cup of coffee french-style is around 5-6 euros. Glass of wine can be 4-8 euros/glass or 12-20 euros per bottle. Vodka in a club will cost 50 euros. Champagne in a club 100 euros and up depending on the brand.

To see the sites, average in about 7-15 euros per ticket for places like (most museums, Eiffel Tower, Bateau Mouche).

Metro tickets inside Paris one way cost 1.60 euros/ticket or 11.40 euros for 10 tickets. You can transfer with the same ticket, just so much that you stay inside the metro. If you think you will be hopping around to many neighborhoods, and will be using the metro a lot in a day, and you plan to stay a week or more, invest in a carte orange, which offers a weekly/monthly pass for unlimited rides, and could be cheaper than buying individual tickets.
You can also bike around with the Velib, which can be 1 euro for 1 hour and 2 euros for 7 hours..etc. Taxis don't take rides under 5 euros, and prices are not that cheap. I've gotten a taxi go across Paris for 25 euros. To/from airports to city is around 50 euros. And getting them on a Saturday night in front of a bar or club will be godsent. To order a taxi will cost you upfront 9 euros because they have to clock it where they are and the distance to it takes to get to you.

Nightlife and Entertainment can range from 4 euros / beer, 8-10 euros cocktail, 15-25 euros for cocktails in chic clubs, and 10-20 euros for cover at the door. The cabarets like the Moulin Rouge and the Lido can cost 100-150 euros a ticket (includes a bottle of champagne). And music clubs can be up to 10-50 euros depending on who is playing.

The theater can be cheap if you go to french indie acts 5-10 euros/ticket. If you go to more well known ones like at the Comedie Francaise it can be upwards to 50 euros/ticket. The Opera, if you are lucky to get a seat can be upwards to 100 euros/ticket. Bastille's Opera sells last minute seats for cheaper prices. But you have to be there on will call to see if there are any.

A good french haircut will get you from 90-120 euros without color. (if that's something you'd like to do)

Hammam, spas, and massages will be from 35-75 euros.

Clothing! Depends on your tastes. Cheap cheap clothes 5-10 euros off these racks off the street. Average is 30-50 euros per piece for better styles. Trendy styles can be 50-100 euros per piece. And for the Great brands.. average 500-1500 euros per piece. That's how they roll! :) Shoes, same deal.. you can get cheap shoes for under 10 euros. Expect the nice french/italian brands to be 500-1000 euros. Good sneakers are 65-100 euros.

What I would suggest is map out your plan before you get here, and check the sites, museums, restaurants you know and want to go to. Then you can use these prices as a general guide for your price range. For more precise prices on the attractions, they have websites on almost everything. But I would say, you can spend an average of 50-75 euros a day if you don't do/buy pricey things. There are ways to do it frugally, like looking for the free museum days, or walking (since Paris sites are almost clustered together) or eating at bistros in non-tourist places (they are cheaper and sometimes you get very great food).

And the safe thing is to have a backup Visa card/ Travelers checks.

Good Luck and safe travels!

Fashion and Beauty questions?

Q. Okay, I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, so here it goes: What is in for fashion this Fall and Winter? Colors, textures, graphics/patterns, accessories such as jewerly and belts, suits, etc? For beauty, what makeup looks are in for these seasons? The last thing I want to look is outdated. What colors are in for eyeshadow, polish, mascara, lipstick, flavor for lipgloss(most popular), and blush? I would like your opinion on makeup looks for holidays or parties too please, same goes with clothing. If this helps I am a plus size woman with a round face so please do this around my body type and/or face shape if at all possible. And for the makeup I have light brown hair and blue eyes. Thanks a bunch!!! =)

A. I don't tend to change my make-up with the season - I was always taught that it was most ladylike to wear as little as you need, and stick with muted, natural colours. I always use Elizabeth Arden Light-1 powder and matching foundation, cream coloured eyeshadow, a little rose blush and brown mascara. The brown colour really makes blue eyes "pop." If it's a special occasion, I wear cinnamon coloured lipstick, very natural, and brown eyeliner.

You should try brushing on your blush (or dabbing, if it's liquid blush) on an angle to make your face look longer and slimmer.

In winter I always stick with lots of wool and woolly-looking fabrics - wool skirts, tweedy pants, that sort of thing, in houndstooth, tartans or checks - textured, wintery patterns, and pair it with clingy, slim sweaters. I own black, brown, and a bright red one - black and brown are slimming and will go with nearly any clothing, whereas the red complements my very white skin. I usually stick with darker, earthy colours. Either that, or I wear plain, dark pants or a pencil skirt with a businessy blouse worn underneath a tight v-neck sweater.

If I'm doing business with someone that day, I wear a long, pointy-toed shoe with a low heel. The long, pointy shape of the shoe really makes your leg look thinner. If it's just me around the office or at a friend's house, I just wear a pair of tidy-looking black slip-on flats that I bought at Payless.

I wear a lot of to-the-knee wool coats, paired with tight leather or microfibre gloves. My favourite colours for coats are navy and black, as they're very slimming, with dark gloves. I pair that with one of those Indian pashmina-style scarves in a bright colour.

I personally like wearing big, clunky earrings, though I can't really do that at the office. I also like strings of pearls or Czech glass necklaces in shiny colours. If I'm out on the town, I'll wear clunky jewelry, a black dress, and some trendy looking shoes - stiletto heels in patent leather, maybe, or some glittery or metallic peep-toed heels.

Remember, certain pieces of clothing will never become out of date, and can be dressed up with cheap jewelry and shoes - a little black dress, a blouse and pencil skirt, etcetera.

I personally have a certain style because I'm young and in a conservative profession. Pick up a copy of Vogue, or poke around Fashionologie.com or a similar site, and pick things that attract you.

Makeup that will make me look a bit older?

Q. I went to a party and was promptly kicked out on the accusation that I presented a fake ID , and I'm 20 but look 15. Is there any makeup or something that will make me look a bit older?

A. Steps

1. Take care of yourself by washing regularly, using deodorant, and, for women, try to do your makeup as often as possible.
2. Fix your eyebrows. Some surveys say that when your eyebrows are done and put together, you can look more mature and therefore, look older.
3. Wear sophisticated looking clothes. This doesn't mean that you have to wear a suit everyday, but stay tuned to trends that suit your age or the age you want to look. Stay away from pastels such as bubblegum pink, light blue, sea green etc. Men should avoid baseball caps and baggy jeans.
4. Consult with a hair stylist. Give a brief summary of your situation or just simply ask for a "mature cut". Look towards more trendy hairstyles. Someone who follows trends generally is or appears to be older. That said, you shouldn't be reading seventeen magazines. Start reading InStyle, Allure, People, Cosmopolitan or Vogue.
5. Work on the way you appear to people, such as personality traits and characteristics.
6. Listen to others. People who are good listeners appear more mature.
7. Be comfortable when talking to people who are older than you.
8. Act calm, and handle things in a reserved manner.
9. Show cleavage appropriately, wear heels, and wear a watch.
10. Dress like the age group you want to fit into. Buy clothes that fit you, not ones that are popular. Avoid Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle because they are symbols of teen style unless you are younger you may. Do not wear plastic flip flops. Chic leather sandals are a good investment because they will usually compliment your feet, make you look richer, make you look older, and complete an outfit.
11. Try to be more put together on a daily basis. Focus on cute shoes and accessories.
12. Wearing a Vera Bradley Bag, colorful Coach bag, or any other colorful purse will make you look instantly younger. If you want to look older, look for more neutral colored handbags. Look for leather, for some reason the older you become, the more leather you own.
13. Women: Wear Makeup. If you are a young woman, only use a little and learn to do it properly. If you overdo your makeup, you'll look more like you've raided your older aunt's makeup drawer than a mature woman! Learn to properly apply makeup to suit your face and fashion needs.
14. Care For Your Skin. If you have acne, do something about it. Go on medication, have a skin clearing regimen.
15. Keep up with current events. It is true that not all adults keep up with current events and it is almost impossible to keep up with all current events. But watch the news once in awhile. It can impress on others that you are aware of world affairs and are capable of staying current.
16. Make the first changes understated. If you transition gracefully, no one should notice much of a change
17. Act mature. If you are all over the place, and hyper and peppy all of the time, you will seem childish no matter what you're wearing.
18. Be careful with your speech. Use proper English. If you're using a lot of slang, swears, and stammering words like, "ummm", "you know", you will not sound like a mature man or woman. Avoid saying "like" every two words. Enhance your vocabulary; if you speak eloquently you will be perceived as more mature.
19. Choose a mature role model to emulate. Pick an actor, musician, or other public figure who is your age or a few years older that projects a sophisticated image. The way he or she dresses, speaks, walks, and acts can help you understand how a mature persona acts.

Tips

*
1. If the people in a given store all look much older than you, you may be dressing too young. Find out where your peers shop.
2. If you're petite, buy petite clothing rather than shopping at the "Misses'" section.
3. If you're a woman, don't shop in the "Junior's" section if you are over 18 or so. That section is for teenagers, not young women.

What to get for a trip to France?
Q. I'm 14 and am going to France at the end of this month. We'll be in Paris for a couple of days, then will spend the rest of the week in St. Tropez. What will I need to pack or shop for? Like, for the weather, etc. I don't want to stand out as a tourist, and want to like nice when we go out for dinners and such. So if you could tell me what I'll need for clothes or anything else. Thanks!

A. Even if you are fashion-oriented, pack your most comfortable clothes from home. If you're from a climate that sports a lot of florals and bright colors, aim for the subdued approach. You can never go wrong wearing black in Paris - in fact, you'll notice that this is the color scheme that most of the locals live in. You've heard it all before - black is slimming, always in style, and versatile - a flattering black sweater or pants/skirt can be dressed down for daywear and easily spruced up for a night on the town. As a traveler, black has the added benefit of not showing the "wear and tear" of a trip. And if you can't stand wearing black, try other neutral colors - like beiges, browns, and creams. Leave your hoodies and matching sweatpants, white tennis shoes, shorts and bright colored nylon windbreakers at home. The comfortable clothes that suburban American women live-in, are not seen on Parisians outside of their homes.
Don't over pack with too many outfits. Bring basics that travel well and that you can mix and match. Dress up your outfits with accessories - necklaces, earrings and scarves. Scarves are ubiquitous in Paris - Parisian women know they are a quick and easy way to pull an outfit together.
Paris is a city made for walking and you'll be on your feet more than you can imagine. You will see the trendy, flat "puma" like tennis shoes on young Parisians, but if you want to blend in, leave at home your white/tennis running shoes. We know that these shoes are comfortable and built for mileage, but white tennis shows are the tell-tale sign of "American Tourist". Truthfully, when we see white shoes in a sea of black, we know that it is a fellow American in Paris. Unfortunately, many unsavory types that prey on tourists also know that this is the case. Don't make yourself an easy mark for pickpockets - leave the white tennis shoes at home.
Invest in shoes designed for walking (Recommended brands are Ecco, Mephisto, or Dansko). One day of climbing steps up monuments and navigating cobblestoned corridors and you'll understand why these sturdy European brands are so popular among Parisians . Or, wear a pair of flats, loafers or short-heeled boots that have been battle-tested at home for walking. Before you toss your favorite Levi's in a suitcase, remember that we're talking about Paris, and the jeans you see on Parisians contain certain stylistic elements - dark, slim fit "skinny jeans", or slight flare - paired with low-heels or ballet flats for daytime walking and stilettos for going out at night. If your jeans can be described as high-waisted or pleated, you'll feel more comfortable wearing black pants or a skirt - especially for dining in the evening.A bonus about visiting Paris is that you don't need to obsess over your hair and make-up. It seems like a contradiction in terms, but Parisian woman tend to favor the "au natural" look more than their American counterparts.

Bottom line: Dress your age and dress nicely - you'll be rewarded with better treatment in cafés, shops and restaurants

What sneakers/casual shoes are trendy right now for young women?
Q. Hi, I'm 20 and I'm looking for some sneakers or casual shoes that are somewhat like sneakers. I plan on wearing them a lot during the fall season. I want to a buy a few pairs. So my question is, what brand or style is hot right now for fall 2007? I know boots and other classy style are in but I'm looking for somewhat comfortable casual sneakers. I hope sneakers is the right word for my question. My definition of a sneaker in this case is a shoe that resembles workout/sports attire but can be worn outside the gym. If any girls out there have some advice, please feel free to comment. :)

A. From my point of view, adidas superstar are ageless...like they are cool every year, every season....

What are some good bars and clubs in downtown San Diego?

Q. My friends and I are going to the No Doubt Concert in Chula Vista this weekend but we are going to stay in Downtown SD. We've never been bar hopping or clubbing there so where are some good places to go?
Also, how do people dress for these bars/clubs?

A. There's a lot of stuff to do in Downtown, that list is a good starting point for casual bars (jeans/tshirts). They're all pretty good, but it depends on your scene, how much money you want to spend, and your style. If your looking for more high clubs than the casual ones in the gaslamp ($20+ cover charge, drinks like $8 for vodka cranberry, $12-14 for top shelf) dressy/stylish clothes for women; guys w/ collared shirts, dress shoes, etc) here's a the main ones, i'll try to give a bried description:

Stingaree - Probably the most expensive - $20-30 cover, depending, two floors, upper floor is rooftop open-air area w/ multiple bars and private cabanas. usually hip hop/pop. dressy, more stylish, like guys/gals in designer clothes that look like 2nd hand stuff. Sometimes you get wannabe celebs, athletes, etc. but the crowds on the days ive gone are always pretty good looking.

On Broadway - Two floors, 3 rooms. upper room has house/techno most weekends, bottom floor is hip hop. normally $20. Standard gaslamp clothes- girls in short dresses, guys in collared shirts, jeans.

Envy at the Ivy - Hotel bar/club, hiphop/pop music. $20 cover. Young crowd, wanna be ballers. Good looking people though. Local Athletes and hanger-on party here. same old gaslamp dress code.

Kin Lounge - The hyatt just opened their kin lounge, which is supposed to be like a miami/vegas poolside lounge on hte 3rd floor. Haven't been yet, but hjeard it was cool, but I suspect it'll be just rich 30-40 year olds w/ expense accounts

Hard Rock - not sure about their bars at night, but on sundays they have a rehab/wet republic type thing where they have a sunday daytime poolside club. its pretty good. everyone is in great shape though.

Some more places -

Basic - no cover. by the ball park, in a warehouse/minimal concrete setting. Can be packed, a mix of different people- casual in sports jerseys, stylish trendy people, people in collared shirts dress shoes. plays like standard hip-hop/pop/rock. Rowdy.

Fleetwood- no cover. Can be older people mid 30's later. Stylish yuppy types. Same music as basic. Sorta chill.

Hotel Bars:

Se lounge at the Se San Diego (next to house of blues). Ultra modern lounge, poolside, pretty cool hotel vibe, loungy-techno music. wannabe euro-types and socials. Cocktail dresses, guys in skinny jeans, mohawks.

JBar. 7th floor outdoor rooftop pool. People in standard dressy clothes. 30 year old yuppies most nights. Pretty nice on a summer night. Not really a party/social mix atmosphere, but good if your in a group. No cover.

Altitude - 14th floor rooftop bar at the marriot by the ballpark. Younger crowd, but wannabe yuppies, so theyre in dress clothes too. Really nice view, great for out of towners. No Cover.

If you like hipsters, trendy people- the only place in downtown san diego is El Dorado. In the outskirts, way out there, in a semi-sketchy area. Sorta hole-in-the-wall type place. Used to be super popular when it first opened up. Think all types of hipsters: like guys in super skinny jeans, skinny ties, looks like they havent showered. Girls in glam/electro clothes. leather jackets. H+M, urban outfitters, ray bans. etc. I think cover's like $5. They normally spin indi/electro, but depends on the club night.

Is there such thing as Trendy Orthopedic Athletic shoes?
Q. I'm a 34 year old woman who works in a business casual setting. Can anyone help with finding trendy orthopedic shoes? My Dr says I need to wear gym shoes while treating my planter faciitis but it seems difficult to accessorize around the New Balance shoes??? Puma is trendy but are they ok? I'm going to ask my Dr about them but thought I may get an answer here first. Help please?! Most styles are just too u-g-l-y!

A. Hi,

This question is the reason so many retailers of orthopedic shoes have trouble selling their products to consumers. The answer is quite simple -- yes! Nowadays, orthopedic shoe manufacturers have started bringing in shoe designers to update their shoes. In fact, they try to mirror the current styles of ordinary shoes as much as possible, while preserving the qualities and features that make them orthopedic.

If you are looking for a place to start your search for stylish orthopedic shoes, check out brands such as Orthaheel, Aetrex, Ecco, and Propet.

What are classic pieces that every woman should have in her wardrobe?

Q. I am looking to update my wardrobe, and want items that won't go out of style.

A. Jeans and Pants

Two pairs of trousers which vary in style. Wide-legged pants or man-style trousers and another pair that are a more timeless, classic cut.
Two pairs of jeans in different cuts. Fitted, straight legged or flared and wide-legged or man style. This can include skinny jeans if you have the body shape to wear them.

Coats and Jackets

A really great, well-cut coat. A timeless trench will take you from season to season.
Two jackets. One that can be teamed with pants and the other that looks good over dresses.

Dresses and Tops

Long-sleeved T-shirts or tops in varying weights but in basic colours such as black, white or cream.
One classic, fitted white shirt, crisp and classy.
A cashmere sweater and cardigan in a V-neck and round neck.
A few great day dresses which are easy to wear and versatile for any occasion. One of these should be the indispensable wrap dress smart, sexy and timeless.
A colorful evening dress which makes you feel great.
The ultimate little black dress.

Handbags and Shoes

One pair of wild look-at-me, statement shoes for those times you want to be noticed.
A pair of versatile,sophisticated black medium-heeled courts.
Comfortable ballet flats in different styles and colors.
A pair of walking boots and a pair of statement boots, fashionable and trendy.
One really serious handbag which brings class to an outfit and that you are proud to wear.

Accessories Jewelry and Sunglasses

A few pairs of sunglasses in different colors and styles.
An ever growing range of fun costume jewelry high street and vintage, which allows you to update your outfits and show your individuality.

What's the difference between heels and pumps?
Q.

A. Pumps
Pumps are the classic choice for professional women's wear. Choose a pump with a mid-height heel for a clean and businesslike look. A 2-inch to 2.5-inch heel is comfortable for walking. Choose quality leather pumps in a classic style for a shoe that will last for years and work with a variety of outfits. If your budget allows, purchase a new pair of pumps occasionally, opting for a trendier heel shape or details to keep your look fresh. Chunkier heels can still work well with a pump and may be more comfortable.
Heels
High heels remain the elegant choice for evening wear. While a very high strappy heel is beautiful and sexy, the appeal is lost if the shoe is uncomfortable and makes walking difficult. When choosing high heels, be sure that you can comfortably walk in the shoe. If you dislike very high heels, a kitten heel offers a pretty and practical alternative. Chunkier heels have been a favorite among women and can be quite appropriate for evenings out, especially in a dressier material or if accented with a pretty peep toe or other detailing.

Where can a woman with size 12 WIDE feet find a variety of quality, trendy, comfortable selection of shoes??

Q. I've got big feet... I hate "Coward" and catalogs like it that have a large variety of what I term "old lady shoes". I wear a size 12 wide. Just to give you an idea of what I like - I love my dansko clogs (mens) and birkenstock sandals, but I want something more slighty feminine. I wish I could wear Sketchers...but they're too small. <sigh>

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!
Brooke :)

A. zappos.com

also some places like Nordstrom will special order another size shoe for you if they dont have it in stock

Where can I find nice, trendy shoes that come in larger sizes (11-12 women's) that are decently priced?
Q. I've got big feet, and a small budget. Any suggestions?
I'm mainly looking for a cute pair of sneakers. (:

A. Steve Madden has extented sizes.

I am thinking about buying a men/women's clothing store in a small town. What can I do to update it?

Q. I can't spend a lot of money, but I would like to make the store not look so 80's. Any suggestions about how to update dressing rooms, choose paint colors, use trendy decor would be appreciated. Also, what kind of fixtures are popular right now (mannequins, racks, display cases)? If you have any tips on going to market, that would be great too!

A. well i would try store supply.com & my friend redid an old store with tons of stuff from ikea they are affordable & easy to assemble. For the markets i would take alot of linesheets & write notes dont sign anything incase you change your mind you doont want them to have your signature because then its hard to cancel an order. I usually write all my orders after the show to see all my options you can budget that way better too. Definetly wear comfortable shoes & bring some candy or granola bars because it gets tiring talking allll day. My favorite show is in vegas Magic & project you need to go the whole time because they also have alot of great seminars that you can learn from. http://show.magiconline.com/magic/v42/index.cvn

What worse according to you: "Out of style" or "Inappropriate dressed for the occassion"?
Q. Imaging these two sceaniors:
Occasion: Meeting in-laws or family dinner with elders

Girl A) A girl wore a super short skirt + 4" trendy stilettos with a sheer blouse with bandeau top underneath + bright lipstick + flashy juwelry. A person who believe there shouldnt be any dresscodes or "inappropriate wear", that she should flaunt her body and people shouldnt't care about what she wear, that she should be accepted by her personality --- or she wore it because guys "love it".

Girl B) She wore a nice daytime floral dress that are above the knee, pantyhose, dainty jewelry + her mom's old oxford 2" pumps (if you dont know what this is, its men inspired dress shoes with heels) that she love. A person who appreciate vintage and doesnt care much about trend who value comfort over style.

Which girl would you say would dress "inappropriate" for this type of occasion?

and I can admit, I would be girl B. I love vintage and wear it alot. Everytime I ask if an outfit is appropriate or not, for some reason I always get crap about my taste for clothes. That they are not in style, that they are something a mother would wear, that they are stupid, they are not suited for my age (24) etc etc and that I "should" wear stilettos (despite I tell them I've a foot injury) or bodycon mini dresses instead or opt for a t-shirt and jeans look. :S

Why do people mix up "personal style" with dressing "inappropriated/"disrespectful"?
and why does it feels like people care more about what decade the clothes are from, nowadays?
Brian: You missed the point. This question doesnt have anything to do with modesty or inmodesty.
Chris: No, not for attention. I just ask these kind of questions because I find them interesting to ask about... and I like second opinions (to get a different perspective of things). Everytime I try to ask about it with relatives what THEY think, they ignore it and bash me for being childrish. If I go to a chat or forum, they complain about my grammar. So I ask on Y.A instead (but def. need to learn to summarize the details and get straight to the point. ^^;;;).
I'm studying about pshycology and fashion styles in depth daily, since a year, so Im not really a "fashion expert" but might more than the less fashion/appearance interested crowd. My dream is become a stylist.
as for Missed the point = he was more focused about the modesty. I was talking about styles and dresscodes.
A person who dress revealing or a person who wear oldfashioned clothes for something more serious/proffessional - which is worse <--- was my point. lol -.-'

A. I think it's much, much worse to dress inappropriately for the occasion. In your example, girl A is way out of line. That outfit only works in a club.

I feel like the media and celebrities have a lot to do with today's style. A lot of women see how the celebrities dress and want to emulate them, thus creating this craziness.

Switching to skirts, and I have a couple questions?

Q. My mom and I are going to a Baptist church and now my mom is saying that I'm no longer aloud to wear pants. The bible says that pants are mens clothing and women are not to wear mens clothing. So I was just curious about a few things. In the winter, will people think we are crazy for wearing skirts? Will it look weird for me to wear my converse (they're my favorite shoes!!) with skirts? Oh, and any tips to accesorize or any tips period? Personal experience? Thank you all so much!!

A. Hey!!! God Bless You!! My name is Lissette and it's a pleasure to be able to help you!

1. I don't know where you live, but it is quite fashionable to wear skirts during the winter time. You can wear it with black stockings, belts, necklaces (jewelry), scarves, hats, trench coats, etc.

2. Quite honestly, you should not wear your converse with skirts everyday. You can look for some cute flats which can be very comfortable (no heels) and will match better with your outfit. Here are some sites that illustrate ways to incorporate your converse into your wardrobe:

Neutrals go well with ANY color in your outfit:
Black, brown, khaki, gray, denim, white, navy.

What age did you daughter have to have the right clothes, shoes?

Q. This year school shopping with my daughter was tough. She had to have a particular style of Nikes and clothes. She is going into 2nd grade! What's up with that?
She wears good brand name shoes - no payless junk. That is not an option. Her feet are growing and need good support. I was just amazed she had a certain style she "had to have".

A. Although, I'm just a new mommy. I have a one year old, I so hope that I won't be dealing with the issue you have described.

I think it's great that she's expressing herself with her clothing, however there is a limit. Just because all the other kids have it doesn't mean she gets it. You are still the parent here and you have the final say in what gets purchased.

My mom would have looked at me and said "if all the other kids jumped off the bridge would you?" of couse my answer was no and then she would say well then do you want to look just like them, NO. I defiently didn't get all the trendy clothes and I grew up just fine, but when mom said No I knew that was the end of that conversation.

Do you give your daughter an allowance? If so then, suggest to your daughter that if she really wants a particular style of Nikes
that she needs to pay for half the cost with her allowance. Tell her what the cost is in total and then tell her how much she needs to contribute. It's a great way to teach your child the value of money and the cost of items. If she saves her half then go get the shoes.

If your daughter does not receive an allowance then now is the time to again tell her that she needs to contribute to the cost of the shoes by helping with chores and earning the money needed.

Good Luck in the future.

Clothing ideas for kids old fashioned photo shoot?
Q. My girl is 3, my boy is 5. They both wear glasses. We are doing a 1 hr photo shoot and I like the old fashioned/ rustic style. Any ideas on how I should dress them/props? Answers with links to pics of costumes, etc, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A. It depends on exaclty what era you wish to copy and exactly what sort of photos will be shot. Strict Portraits or more candid, situatuinal photos.

As for props. I suggest going to your local thrift stores, secondhand stores and antique stores (though antique stores are often pricey) and look for vintage toys. For boys, it all sort of depends on what your littleboy is in to. Old metal firetrucks and model cars work well, as do old stuffed animals that they like. For girls, contemporary cloth and rag dolls can be timeless. Items used for playing dress up work well for photo shoots as well (mom's large sunday hats, strings of fake pearls, dress gloves) if the little girl enjoys that. If your children like to read, old children's books are veyr easy and cheap to come by and make for great photos. And even if you can't find authentic old books, Little Golden Books are still published to this day and look the same as they did 60 years ago. They are bout a dollar apiece and can be found at any book store with a children's section or Wal*Mart.

Non child-related props would include flowers (pretty though a bit cliche), garden tools (depending on location), hats, and ANYTHING that your children are fascinated by or like playing with. That's the big thing, it shouldn't be forced. What do they like? Bring them along when you are looking for props and follow their lead.

For clothing: keep it simple. Try not to use patterns or anything obviously trendy and stay away from anything with obvious fasteners or brand names and logos on it. Stick to nice dress clothes. You're little girl should wear a nice, simple dress (something white or light colored will show up well in black and white photography, also it's fairly timeless) with nice simple shoes (something old fashioned like patent leather would look nice). The little boy should be dressed in lighter colors as well - preferably a button up dress shirt and dark colored pants (I wouldn't be tempted to use a tie or anything suitish. Just go with SIMPLE) His shoes should also be classic looking (black leather tie ups would be good). If this isn't possible, than have the photographer to avoid having their feet in a shot (they should be able to handle this) or have them go barefoot if the location and weather safely allow.

If you can, leave your daughter's hair down without bretts or fasteners as this will date the photo as newer. If it has to be up and, if she would be willing, try using a little hair product or bobby pins instead.

Their glasses will pose a problem as glasses change with fashion and will give away that the photo isn't very accurate in it's portrayal of "old-fashioned" photos. Also, in most older photos (say Victorian era-1950s) children didn't appear wearing photos for the large part until around middle school age.

Lastly, the best advice I have for making retro/old-fashioned/rustic/contemporary photos is to keep it simple. Try to narrow down a time-frame you have in mind and see what you already have that would have been around at that time.

What to wear at the office with a pinstripe suit?

Q. I like dark grey suits with white vertical pinstripes for business wear. I have also worn solid dark blue ones for variety, but I like grey ones better. White broadcloth shirts are most formal, but there may be alternatives that are still sober and dignified. What colors and patterns of shirts and ties do you suggest for my formal business look? How about shoes? For bonus points, what brands and models of watches would you wear with such a business ensemble? It seems that magazines have recommended many tres gauche combos, and celebrities have worn many tasteless ones, so people are confused about proper dress now. Some people who have answered questions in this category have good taste, but some do not.
Doesn't anyone know something about proper dress for business? Surely someone works in a proper and conservative office as I have. I see some people recommending garish and tasteless ensembles, somewhat along the lines of stuff Woody Allen once wore to be ridiculous, but now, other celebrities wear worse stuff and don't know or don't care if it is tasteless.
I want to see what people say about watches. For business, Simple is best, so "Cellinis' are the Rolexes proper to wear with suits. I saw one recently for $3650. My basic dress watches by Cartier, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe cost $10,700 to $15,000 now. I have 2 Rolex sports watches. The gold bracelet "OP Datejust" cost $13,150 in 1994. My Breguet "Marine" cost $29,500. The most complicated Rolex is a "Cosmograph Daytona" chronograph. I think a new on in gold costs $19,450. The ultimate single complication is chimes, e.g, a $507,000 Vacheron Constantin "30010" platinum skeleton minute repeater. I have written seeral books about watches. I am working on the 4th edition of "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". Rolex places 41st now. In earlier editions, it was 18th to 24th. Breguet was costliest with Patek philippe 2nd, Vacheron constantin 3rd and A. Lange & Sohne 4th. A new brand Richard Mille wins now.
My coloring shows my 2 Cherokee grandmothers, i.e black hair with red highlights (some grey around the ears since age 17), ruddy bronze tanned skin plus brown eyes. when i was age 10, we went to a Cherokee village at the foot of the Smoky mountains. The Indians nearly kept me. Dad was amused. They didn't notice my siblings who have olive skins and medium brown hair. I look Cherokee, but they do not.

A. *laugh*

Ok.. first off, dark grey and white is pretty neutral as it can get. You could pretty much go for most colours, but I'd suggest lighter colours rather than the medim>dark colors. Why? because medium shades might be too intense against the contrast of the dark suit, and dark colored shirts will blend in too much... might make you look too .. dull.

Now, it depends on your skintone what colors look best on you. If you're light skinned, there are certain shades that will bring out your coloring, versus if you were dark or olive skinned. Without your notes on coloring, I can't really suggest any colours or any shades of colors... (example: yellows might make olive skin look too strange and dull, but the light blues/greens will bring olive skintones out) That's not a hard and fast rule because a very pale shade of yellow might look stunning against you, just not a green-yellow or a blue-yellow.. it's all relative in how the light hits your skin and bounces off the suit.

As for shirts/ties.. the general rule is that if your shirt is busy or bright, go for a neutral tie.

example: pinstriped suit, a light green shirt with faint white checks in it (not plaid..please), means you wear a tie that's a light grey/silver to pick up the white in the pinstripe, or even have a tie that's a mix of greens and silvers or a pattern to really bring out the shirt. You can go kind of crazy in terms of slick patterns with the ties (checks, stripes, light dots), but nothing like saxophones or weird babies on the front please... Spend up to about $100/tie, in a neutral silver or offsilver colour and it'll go with pretty much any shirt/suit combo.

As for shoes, if you have cash to blow, go to a high end store like Holt Renfrew in Toronto (depending on where you are, ask a woman..) and get a black and a brown pair of shoes, in real leather that are comfortable, and the same height (so that your pants will hang at the same height each time)

THen you'll need to get your pinstriped suit tailored to fit you perfectly, and to get the tailor to put a proper break in your pants so that they sit well over your new shoes. I like the Gucci loafers for men... if you can't afford high end, go to a place like a department store, or Aldos, or any place that sells trendy but decently done shoes.

The best watch? Rolex of course. Then Gucci or Prada. If you can't afford that, you could even go to Walmart and pick out a gorgeous smoked-grey face watch with a clean, silver band that would look great with your grey pinstriped suit. You can also try Fossil watches for a lower-end alternative that will last almost forever.

Toddler shoes?

Q. Can anybody tell me where to buy healthy shoes for toddlers
I am so concerned about my daughter's feet so i need something that pedietricians recommend or follow safety standards for little feet
Thanks for recommending any sites or stores

A. Stride Rite

in most malls.

maybe check out stride rite .com?

Good for you being concerned about her feet. Just dont give up on that when she is 8 and wants to wear trendy chunky high-heeled bad for your feet shoes!

My worst nightmare is being a 'momish' woman?
Q. I'm female but I am so so unlike all the women I know.
I have coworkers who are married and all they talk about is how 'amazing' their snot nosed toddlers are. And they all walk around with cheerios and juice boxes and babywipes. And they all look the same. Same haircut, wearing gross unflattering capri pants, keds. And theyre all obsessed with losing weight and eating salad and new trendy fashion or diet fads. Its like an endless cycle of talking about clothes, shoes, sales, coupons, kids, husband.
It's all so boring and unappealing.
I'm serious. With the exception of being literally tortured, my worst nightmare is having these people as friends for the rest of my life.
Where are all the cooler people?
To clarify: my worst nightmare would be if I actually lived this lifestyle. Ughh. The fact that so many women are like this and actually LIKE it seriously confuses me.
Thanks Brownies! Yay, hope :) Maybe it's just the area I live in.
@ Susan

You NAILED it with the yoga look.
They're like "My hubby Donald needs me to stay in shape, or he's gonna run off with his floozy secretary Riley. Ever since I hit 30, my metabolism just isn't what it used to be and I need to let everybody know it. But resistance training will make me look masculine so I have to do either Yoga or dance aerobics with a group of other women because I lack the will power to fly solo. And I can't change out of my clothes because then people won't see that I've exercised today. And I have to pick up Conor and Justin at school and then bring them to their football and soccer games. Thank goodness I chose gender appropriate activities without even asking them if they were interested or not. They're just mommy's little all-stars. If only I had a girl then I could have her take dance. Oh, better get home and cook my quinoa brown rice green tea spelt sea weed tufo dinner ! dr oz says so, and I believe every word.&#39

A. Oh man, I understand this. I'm 42 and no children because I don't want children. Other women that I know or see out in public , around my age, dress/behave just the way you described in your question. I am so careful not to have my hair cut like theirs or wear what they wear. I don't want to be mistaken for a "mom".

I'm glad that the other ladies who answered this question are cool and do their own thing. I feel relieved.-sincerely.

I have to say the outfit that irritates me the most is the "just came from yoga class and I'm still wearing black capris, even tho this style of pant looks tacky on me, and my hair is gross tied up in a bun, but I'm buying groceries real quick at the market look".
They wear that outfit all day.

Going into a different high school then my friends, any tips?

Q. I'm going into a different high school then all of my friends this august. I'll be a freshman. I don't know anyone except this one senior from the camp I work at. I have a ton of money saved up to buy clothes and school stuff. I've got 600, could get 7 if I work harder, so is there anything I need to buy? Or any advice on how to survive my first day with out knowing anyone? Any kind of advice actually would be hugely welcome.

A. being friends with a senior is a grate thing. that way you'll get to know kids outside of your grade, this will improve your popularity, and other kids will think your cool or what ever. As for buying stuff, don't go all out on buying supplies. all u should get is:

-pens
-2-4 binders (all depends on the type of school you go to and what your teacher is okay with.ask if they mind two class`s in one binder)
-a folder for hand outs ( really importunate for first week at school)
-pencil case
-pencils
-eraser
-lead
-school bag
-one of thoughts accordion to put home work. :i have a really good tip for homework, most kids just bring there hole binder home when they have homework, to me that is beyond dump! why bring something home that is so heavy, for one page you need. if its a lose sheet i like to take it out of my binder and put it in my accordion ,if i need my text book then i bring it home. if you have a test, take out the unit your having the test on. when having an exam then you should take the binder home.

that's all you really need. if your taking art bring normal pencils. and you should bye running shoes for gym. if you feel that your locker need more shelves get some, and you should have a gym bag and some magnets for your locker.

buying cloths is all up to you. if your trendy buy trendy cloths, if your funky buy funky cloths, just remember to be your self, if your not the type to stand out then don't try. 600$ is more then enough for everything that you need, en less you go over bored, i promise you after 2 months you wont even use half the things you buy if you do buy more then you need, and go nuts on cloths. you can never go wrong with to much to wear!!!

first day outfit: don't wear something to drag attention to your self. maybe some nice shorts and a pretty top would be good. no high heels!!!! don't put to much makeup to your face. if you wear jewelry only wear earnings and a bracket(nothing flashy)

first day:
making friend- i`m going to be honest. making friends in high school is 10x harder then making friends in middle school. BUT chances are there;s a hand full of people that don't know anyone as well as you. site beside someone that looks out of place and make conversation, ask what there doing at lunch and maybe you'll make a friend. don't be shy.

lunch: don't buy lunch!! first day is always the longest line EVER!! bring something to eat!!!!

bus: if you take the bus there's one more way to make friends! site beside someone that's alone and ask if you can site there.

random tips:

-guys are not everything! don't worry if you don't have a boyfriend first year.

-don't run in the halls, number 1 give away that your new and a nerd,

-don't look miserable, cuz who want to be friend with a downer. try to walk like you do in the mall or on the street.

-don't site at the front of the room or the back, front is loserish, back tells the teacher your a trouble maker site in between.

well that's all i can think of off the top of my head, hope i helped, i`ll be glade to answer more questions, i remember last year i was so scared, good luck!! :)

Can a company not allow chairs while working at the front desk?
Q. I work at a ymca Nebraska and was wondering if they can legally do this as it cause much pain to the feet and the back and im only 16 and im really healthy where would i look this up to find out

A. Hmm...It is a health and fitness center and they want you moving around looking active not sitting on your bum. Try wearing better shoes, not trendy ones. If you are already wearing tennis shoes get a good pair and expensive name brand doesn't necessarily equate to "good".

Also, stop complaining. There are lots of jobs that require standing:
Teacher, cashier, stylist, doctor/surgeon, stocker, etc.

How can I dress better without looking like a tool?

Q. I've never taken a deep plunge into fashion, so going all out with the latest would not be in my character. I'll wear skinny jeans, but scarves seem awkward if not for cold weather. I don't really understand how to use accessories, or colors, or matching. I'm also short, so any advice on short guys dressing trendy would be greatly appreciated.

A. shirts = plain white tees, graphic tees (no logos if possible), & the occasional abercrombie shirt (dont overdo it tho, or you'll look like a douchebag!)

jeans = anything! guys can pull off virtually any style, so dont limit yourself. heres some inspiration: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/category_full_fashion_guide.jsp?catId=cat130130 -skinny jeans are tricky to pull off, so try on a lot of styles before you buy

NO fashion scarfs! please leave those to women

shoes = you can go with skater vans: http://shop.vans.com/catalog/Vans/en_US/product/men/skate-shoes/widow-men.html

the universally loved converse: http://www.converse.com/?CSID=212#/s/products/collections/specialcollection7 (high or low tops)

or (depending on the occasion) a flip flop: http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=abercrombie

for hoodies and jackets, there are many looks you can go with.

skater = vans, element, fox (you can buy these brands at Pacsun)

beachy-casual = abercrombie, hollister, aeropostle

preppy = the gap

What would be appropriate attire for a middle-aged woman to wear to relative's wedding?
Q. My aunt told me my cousin is engaged and the wedding will likely be late summer or early autumn. I assume I will be invited, but I don't know if it will be formal or casual. I don't own any really "dress-up" clothes. The best thing I have right now is a pair of jeans with no holes or tears and a scrub-type top with butterflies on it. Getting me to dress-up is like getting Peppermint Patty to wear a dress. Any suggestions?

A. Arg - Middle age - That's me and it's tough to go shopping, isn't it? You don't want to wear something too young and trendy and end up looking like a "Real Housewife", yet you don't want to look like an old lady wearing Sag Harbor, either. You also want to wear something that you would wear again. Every woman should have a few good staples in her wardrobe. For example, a little black dress. Once you have one, you'll find yourself wearing it all the time.

You can't go wrong with the LBD:

Good sandals to wear Spring 2011?

Q. Okay, well, to start, I'm a teen girl (high school). Also, I'm VERY self-concious about the way my feet (mostly toes) look. They're not exactly pretty... at all! haha.... So, what are some good sandals to wear in Spring/Summer 2011 that either don't show the toes or would make me feel better about my feet... thanks! :)

A. I'm self conscious about my feet too! Want to know what's really trendy for the Spring/Summer 2011 shoe season? The Sperrys Top Siders! They are so so comfortable- I have two pairs! They look good with dresses, shorts, you name it and the great thing is that there are so many various styles that they can literally look amazing with anything. If you're really self conscious about your feet like I am, these are great because their an actual shoe, and they are literally like walking on clouds. The "break in" process took literally a day!
Here's the link:

If you're interested in the ones I got, here are the links for those too- I'm really into fashion and stuff and got tons of compliments from the two pairs that I bought :)

I bought those in the Platinum Gold color! Both are extremely comfortable, and I highly suggest checking out that website because Sperries are a total must for 2011!!!!

BTW, I highly doubt that your feet are ugly, but if you beg to differ, I would def check out those links.
Wish you the best of luck and hope I helped!

2011 back to school fashion?
Q. i was wondering what are the musts for back to school, im going in to 8th grade?? like what is the big thing this year?? and when i go back to school shopping what should i get?? okk thanks!

A. I'm going to 8th too! *High Fives* :)

Must haves:

Jeans- (2-3), in a style you like. Skinny jeans are trendy, but bootcuts are making a comeback.

Shorts- (2-3), for summer. Mix up the types of fabric, like don't stick with denim. Bright colors are really in, so I suggest getting maybe 2 pairs in a cool color like yellow/red. You can wear these with a plain, tucked in top with a skinny belt. Super cute!

Skirts- (2), go for ruffles and florals, kinda like what I said about the shorts.

Cardigans- (2-3), go for a plain white/black/grey one that you can wear with anything, then 1-2 in a fun bright color! Cardigans can dress up and down outfits, and are a nice touch to just about any outfit.

Tops- (Go crazy). You can never have enough! Don't forget the basic camis. Lace, ruffles, crop tops, and florals are really in right now. Also, to go with the trendy bohemian look, try flowy tops with a cool cut. Off the shoulder tops are also cute, especially when they're cropped.

Trends this year:

Color blocking: This is when you use a bright color to spruce up an outfit, for example wearing a bright red shoe with a plain black outfit. Fun colors are awesome, don't be afraid of them though!

Bohemian: Braids, florals, drapery, you know it.

Tribal: Tribal prints are really big, as well as feathers- as earrings, in your hair, etc.

Check out stores like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. They have super trendy clothing, for pretty good prices.

Hope this helped!

Where can i find stylish womans shoes in a size 12?
Q. i actually wear a 12.5 but can fit a size twelve, i am 22 and like to dress girly so i like trendy boots and heels (no converse or vans i have a closet full of these brands) i also don't want shoes that my granmother would wear to church. 12 is the absolute smallest I can fit, there is no way i could "squeeze in" to an eleven. please don't list a company unless you're SURE they carry size 12. (alot of places advertise extended sizes but only go up to 11) thank you for your suggestions!!!

A. Size 11 here! barefoot tess has lot of trendy shoes and carry extended sizes for brands like jeffrey campbell and dolce vita . Unfortunately they don't have a lot of 12.5 shoes but they have some really cute size 12's and 13's. Shoes.com carries some nice things too.

I just got a job, what type of clothes are acceptable?

Q. I just got a job with the census bureau and for training, they ask that you wear business casual attire. I'm 19 and never really had to dress any certain way at any other jobs so if someone could tell me what is considered business casual attire then that would be great!

Thanks for any help.

A. Business casual is crisp, neat, and should look appropriate even for a chance meeting with a CEO. It should not look like cocktail or party or picnic attire. Avoid tight or baggy clothing; business casual is classic rather than trendy.
Basics:
Khaki or dark pants, neatly pressed, and a pressed long-sleeved, buttoned solid shirt are safe for both men and women. Women can wear sweaters; cleavage is not business-appropriate (despite what you see in the media). Polo/golf shirts, unwrinkled, are an appropriate choice if you know the environment will be quite casual, outdoors or in a very hot location. This may not seem like terribly exciting attire, but you are not trying to stand out for your cutting edge look, but for your good judgment in a business environment.
Shoes / belt:
Wear a leather belt and leather shoes. Athletic shoes are inappropriate.
Cost / quality:
You are not expected to be able to afford the same clothing as a corporate CEO. However, do invest in quality that will look appropriate during your first two or three years on the job for a business casual environment or occasions.
Details:
Everything should be clean, well pressed, and not show wear. Even the nicest khakis after 100 washings may not be your best choice for a reception. Carefully inspect new clothes for tags, and all clothes for dangling threads, etc. (as with interview attire).
Use common sense.
If there are six inches of snow on the ground and/or you are rushing to get to an information session between classes and you left home 12 hours earlier, no one will expect you to show up looking ready for a photo shoot they'll just be happy you made it. Just avoid wearing your worst gym clothes and jeans. If you show up at an event and realize you're not as well dressed as you should be, make a quick, pleasant apology and make a good impression with your interpersonal skills and intelligent questions.

is there way to look like ur rich and beautiful without expensive stuff?
Q. i wear hollister and abercrombie

A. dress classic. [rivate school uniforms are perfect examples of this look. use them as inspiration for your daily wardrobe. cardigans, plaid, polo shirts, jumpers, skirts, slacks and shorts. also, for the "old money" look, more vintage style classics will work, like a british style 3-button suit, anything "tweed", etc. fabrics should be strictly organic: wool, nubby, relaxed. no polyester, nothing "shiny". shoes should be leather, understated, and conservative. don't overdo it; try to go for a relaxed look, like you just got back from a week at the family home in kennebunkport. well fitting clothing in relaxed muted colors and maybe a touch of pastel is very old money.

have good hygiene. make sure you always brush your teeth and take a shower. wash your hair and keep it tidy but understated. clean your nails and get manicures at inexpensive nail salons. short tips are really pretty but avoid long nails with bright colors or nail jewels.

keep your face neat and your body well groomed. men should have precise haircuts, and well shaven facial hair. women should have a "tasteful" cut, color and shine in their hair. clear skin, free of acne and well moisturized especially in women of a certain age. hair color should look natural and highlights and lowlights must be natural as if obtained on a visit to the beach house.

slow down your speech, and lower your voice volume. Don't be loud or draw attention to yourself. learn to play golf, tennis and sail, or to ride (horses), even to play polo (if you have the stomach for it). get familiar with english history. groom regularly, nails, body, face and hair. keep clothing neat in appearance (tuck in shirts, wear comfortable fitting not very loose clothing). you must think before you talk, because, as small as this may seem, some people blurt out things that make them seem as if they didn't, and it can hurt you and others.

change the forecast. for women, strapped sandals in winter are alright. for men, sweaters and khaki shorts with casual loafers are okay as long as it's not snowing. the old money crowd does love to layer, so sweaters, overcoats, and similar garb is handy for cooler conditions.

a wealthy woman's makeup is natural with neutral colors, except for red lipstick, the only color in her makeup. her nail polish is a pale white, pink or beige. perfect skin is a rich woman must. never overtan; natural skin color looks much better. no sunspots, so keep on sporting sunscreen, though everyone looks better with a healthy glow.

smell like money. men and women should wear a small amount of an expensive scent. (men- on inner wrist and underneath the jaw line, women- on inner wrist inner elbows and underneath jaw line or behind ears). do not put too much on!

never look at the tag while "shopping" in expensive stores. train yourself not to react to extremely high prices by educating yourself on the ridiculous pricing for designer goods. if you react and make a scene, the other shoppers in the store will think that they are better than/ above you.

watch TV or movies about those with a lot of money. read forbes, barron's, the wall street journal, the new yorker, and the economist.

don't try too hard; subtlety is key. looking like a newly rich person is never a good thing to those who have always had money.

an authentic designer bag or wallet is nice, but go for something a bit bland or obsolete. something that is the "latest fashion" is by definition a trend, which is anathema to the old money crowd. it must be well made and leather even if not designer, go for simplistic designs, such as the LL bean boat & tote or a classic black quilted chanel. nothing avante garde, and nothing that looks like the balenciaga lariat, or the chloe paddington. however, if you're impressing the nouveau riche, "trendy" is pretty much mandatory.

have at least one pair of really decent well made shoes. for men, some very conservative and understated oxfords or loafers. for women, a conservative pump, like the classic chanel pump would be a good choice.

one of the most important things is to try and act normal. people who are not rich, wish they were. people who are rich don't want anyone to know. wear things that are good quality, but do not advertise. if someone is truly wealthy, they will be able to tell. do not act as though you are above normal activities. act rich, walk and speak properly, but when you talk about the subject of yourself or your life, speak about yourself as though you are a normal person.

and remember...
-flashy does not mean wealth, only poor taste.
-speak properly; always mind your grammar.
-use excellent posture, whether you are sitting or standing.
-know your etiquette. read books on the proper use.

hope this helps
x
