I have tiny feet so I can never find shoes that are age-suitable. Where can I buy trendy shoes in small sizes?

Q. I have size 2.5 or 3 feet and can never find any nice shoes for my age (I'm going to be 19 in a month). I'd love to be able to find shoes that are reasonably priced as well as trendy that I can fit into. I tried zappos.com and they have some nice shoes in smaller sizes but it's kind of expensive. I want to get shoes that are $20-$50. Any other ideas?

A. I have the exact same problem! I'm about to be 20 and I can't find a single pair of nice high heels anywhere! anyways, my older sister told me about a website that designs heels for tiny feet women just like you and me! go to www.cinderellaofboston.com. they're having a sale right now on their winter collection. the price is actually not that bad. i haven't ordered anything yet but i think this website might do just the trick! enjoy and let me know how it went. my shoe size is exactly like yours! take care and good luck!

what brand of cute shoes will not hurt my feet?
Q. i have very sensitive feet and have a very hard time finding shoes that will not rub or blister my feet. what brand would you suggest?

A. I have this problem also, but because I have a bad hip which means I can't wear all shoe types for lots of walking.

Gabor do comfortable supportive shoes, that re trendy, but a little expensive. Mine cost £50, and were reduced !

http://www.gaborshoes.co.uk/shoes/shoes/casual/gabor-frost-black-leather-casual-shoe-64-111.htm

Faith and Clarks are good shops also.

For sensitive feet, I would advise that you invested a bit moer money than the averaeg person, because there are a lot of low quality shoes out there, and it isn't always easy to spot the exceptions.

Is there such thing as Trendy Orthopedic Athletic shoes?

Q. I'm a 34 year old woman who works in a business casual setting. Can anyone help with finding trendy orthopedic shoes? My Dr says I need to wear gym shoes while treating my planter faciitis but it seems difficult to accessorize around the New Balance shoes??? Puma is trendy but are they ok? I'm going to ask my Dr about them but thought I may get an answer here first. Help please?! Most styles are just too u-g-l-y!

A. Hi,

This question is the reason so many retailers of orthopedic shoes have trouble selling their products to consumers. The answer is quite simple -- yes! Nowadays, orthopedic shoe manufacturers have started bringing in shoe designers to update their shoes. In fact, they try to mirror the current styles of ordinary shoes as much as possible, while preserving the qualities and features that make them orthopedic.

If you are looking for a place to start your search for stylish orthopedic shoes, check out brands such as Orthaheel, Aetrex, Ecco, and Propet.

Women's Running shoes!?

Q. I need to purchase new running shoes. I currently run 5-7 miles per day mainly on the treadmill. I have narrow feet and VERY high arches. My current pair are Asics to which I added poly sorb insoles, I love them now, but they were really hard to break in, they pushed down on my toes for a long time (no they are not too small, I always get my feet measured and the size has been the same for a long time). So ladies or men who REALLY know about women's running shoes, can anyone recommend a shoe for my foot type and need that will not take forever to break in? I would love to go to a specialty running store, but there is not one in my area.
BTW-I don't care about what is cute or trendy.

A. 2 words: New Balance. They're great running and walking shoes.. They are very light weight and merciless on the balls of your feet... They are really comfortable... I ran track and I would slip them on after I ran and they are a good quality shoe.. pricy but good.

High Heels Shoe Advice!?!?!?
Q. I usually wear trainers so when i go out i MUST wear high heals (i wouldn't go out to pubs in trainers :|), after about half hour to a hour of standing in the pub my feet start hurting BAD... i was wondering what i could do/use so that my feet won't hurt as much while wearing heels... + don't say "don't wear them" because thats abit obvious ¬_¬. Proper answers please.

Thanks.

A. If you don't HAVE to wear a heel but would like a flirty, trendy dress shoe..May I suggest Mary Janes. They come in a variety of colors and prices. I wear them sometimes although I'm only 5'4. They work with my jeans, dress slacks, skirts (especially A-line), summer dresses and much more! Think of how cute young girls look in those shoes and they work with everything. Makes the men think you took a few years of your age too. I was told the other day by a pretty well-dressed attractive man that he loves a woman in a Mary Jane and it appeals as it takes years off they're look. Oo Sounds like a winner! :) Sorry, don't mean to write a book, but another option I love that is classy yet sassy without losing comfort is the heel with thickness all over the bottom of the shoe, not a wedge as they can be hard to walk on but just a well-balanced thick heel and maybe some build to counter balance the toe. Hope this helps! Have safe fun :)

Where can a woman with size 12 WIDE feet find a variety of quality, trendy, comfortable selection of shoes??

Q. I've got big feet... I hate "Coward" and catalogs like it that have a large variety of what I term "old lady shoes". I wear a size 12 wide. Just to give you an idea of what I like - I love my dansko clogs (mens) and birkenstock sandals, but I want something more slighty feminine. I wish I could wear Sketchers...but they're too small. <sigh>

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!
Brooke :)

A. zappos.com
shoes.com
and
amazon.com
also some places like Nordstrom will special order another size shoe for you if they dont have it in stock

Do other women find it frustrating that the super cute, stylish shoes never come in wide widths?
Q. My entire life, I've crammed my feet into normal, medium width shoes. I've looked longingly at the sexy, strappy sandals that so many women can wear with ease. But I finally had to come to terms with the fact that I just have WIDE feet. I'm not a huge woman - but my feet are wider than normal. I know there are alot of other women (YOUNG women) out there who have the same issue. Yet the shoe manufacturers won't make shoes in wider widths. It's like they think wide equals fat feet and if we don't want fat women, then we sure don't want to recognize there are people with fat feet wearing our shoes! :) I think it's silly that women are trained to believe they have to be in PAIN to be beautiful. When you do a search on the web, most wide shoes look like they should be on 80 year old grannies. Occassionally you'll find a somewhat trendy looking shoe but it's rare. Who else find this frustrating?

A. It is as if I wrote this question!!! I though I was the only one feeling this way! Most shoes are like sausages...Although Payless shoe store has a bigger variety of wide shoes, they're just mostly not real leather. But for the price you can replace them more often...
We should start a campain: Wides have rights too!! hehe

I bought a pair of shoes but they are one size too big. What can I put inside them to make them fit?

Q.

A. I have the same problem, except all of my shoes are too big.
I use comfort padding from 'Boots' feet section, cut into strips and then stuck into the toes. I have to do this to all of my shoes because my feet are a size 3 and I have to wear orthotics - needless to say unless you are 12 years old, manufacturers don't make small, trendy shoes that fit orthotics (I am 32!).
Get the extra thick comfy padding and cut thin strips and stick into the toe section. If you stick it on the heel, I find it feels wierd because the shoe heel doesn't fit well, plus it looks really ugly.
Tuff luck if you have open toe sandals, I have to buy kids sandals!
Warning - Make sure your toes aren't too squashed at the end of the shoe, I use 2/3 layers of thick padding for shoes that are 1 size too big.
I am not a podiatrist and my podiatrist will kill me if she finds out that this is what I do to make trendy shoes fit my feet, but it does work!

Best shoes for standing up?
Q. I started working as a sales rep about 4 months ago and it's a great job. I get to stand all day, problem is, my shoes are always killing me. I get to work from F-Tu 8 hours shifts and even though I have 2 breaks and a lunch, my feet always hurt to a point that I can't sleep because of it.
I need black shoes for work and they can't be boots or tennis shoes, and definitely can't be open.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Desperate feet.
Doesn't matter if they are flat or not, the thing is I have this huge arch on my feet.

A. So, you have to wear heels? or flats? that's a bit uncomfy. I worked in Rite Aid for 6 years thankfully they allowed us to wear black sneakers.

Upon viewing the interent, I think the best thing to do is buy orthopedic shoes...ie doctor Sholls or other brands. These tend to be gentle on your feet, (nurses wear them) and allow you to stay long hours on your feet. Shoes are the basis for a good walking and standing in retail. So, even though not "trendy" or "fashionable" what you want is function and comfort.

Edit for additional details: if you scan the internet you can find sites that excel in orthopedic products. All you need to do is look up for shoe inserts for high arched feet. Source: My husband has flat feet and found a site (i'm sorry the name escapes me at the moment, it was so long ago) that made hard (but comfortable) formed plastic inserts. His feet have never felt better. He even has better posture from this addition to his shoewear.
Edit for my own additional detail: http://www.footsmart.com/P-IsoArch-High-Arch-Foot-Supports-10022.aspx here is what you are looking for. This is the exact site that my husband got his insert from. I guess, by the site, you can even ask for custom made inserts. They are a bit pricey however, for comfort and foot health, what cost wouldn't you be willing to pay. He's had his for almost a year and a half now.

Where can I find fashionable plus size shoes?

Q. Does anyone know where I can buy either in a store or online trendy plus size shoes like for a size 12 womans foot? Every website I find has real ugly and outdated shoes. HELPP!
anddd... I'm not a monster, I'm just really tall at 6'1 so its hard for me to find tall lengths and bigger shoes =(

A. I believe Payless goes up to a 13. Nordstrom is always a good bet - they started out as a hard to find shoe specialist, way back when, and have kept that aspect of their business up even after re-focusing to fashion.

There are quite a few more listed in our shoe directory, that notes sizes (and widths) at:

Advice for Young Woman Traveling Alone in India?

Q. I don't need to be told that it's dangerous and not to go. I'm going.

I want to be respectful in the way I dress and how I handle myself in public situations. Although I know that India can be dangerous for women, I also know that ignorant tourists exacerbate the situation. I plan on arriving in Delhi in respectable clothing with a scarf and immediately shopping for salwar kameez. Is there certain color or styles to look out for? I'll be staying in the Lajpat Nagar area (I think)... places to shop? What do women typically wear on their feet? Do women wear sunglasses? Would wearing a tilaka (bindi) help me assimilate or would it be rude? If I were to wear one what color? Best places to see/shop in Delhi? Safest areas?

When speaking to strangers should I look them in the eye? Is it better to approach women or men when asking directions or help? Groups or alone? Should I book rides to train stations ahead of time? Taxi? Rickshaw? Can I walk in Delhi alone during the day?

I'm going on day trips to Agra and Jaipur from Delhi (CC) and also taking a sleeping train car to Varanasi to stay two nights. Tips for trains? I plan on going with the 1A or 2A.

Anything you can think of will be helpful! Thanks!
Also henna... I'd like to get some, but I know that depending on the design it can mean certain things. Advice for where and what to get?

A. huh, impressed by your research on the subject :D

well to start with, It'll be good you try salwar suit, but not many delhi girls wear that, most of them you'll find in western dresses only. still to get a feel of the youth, I shall recommend you to get around the north campus delhi university (accessible by metro) and get the latest style checks on colors and design of suits. You'll find a handful of trendy girls in Lajpat nagar too, but DU north cam is recommended.
well in feet they wear shoes / bellies, you can try "jutti" make sure you buy the right brands, they are not always comfortable.
By the time you'll come Sun'll kill you if you wont wear sunglasses.
Tilak is different from bindi. tilak is something put on religious occasions or may be when you arrive at hotel they'll put it on you after a welcome. Bindi is similar usually a plastic now a days, meant for married woman. bachelors put it too in style, but its meant for Married woman. single woman must put any color but red. put the one that matches your salwar suit.

Best places a lot depend on your mood and taste, you can find lot of them on web, I'll recommend you to go to humayun's tomb. If you need time to ponder go to Issa khan's tomb close to Humayun's tomb.
Safest areas I'll say are everywhere and nowhere. dont get around places alone at night is all i'll say.

Eye contact :) you'll make out looking at their eyes if you should make it or not. remember that people stalk in here, its just curiosity. its good if you keep yourself reserved.
Approaching a woman is safe, but not sure if they'll have answers to your questions. reach the gentleman, preferably alone but use your wisdom.
booking trains is not easy, you need to book well in advance or reach the agents. taxi buses etc are available.
And yes you can walk alone in delhi during the day.
day's trip to Agra and Jaipur is manageable but not both on same day. Del - Jaipur one day and Delhi - Agra other day.
Varanasi is a nice place to be, you'll find everything as you find in pictures, but the 'real' sages the Naga's, the Aghori's are not accessible. not ever to locales.
And Heena is better known as mehendi, you can reach any beauty parlor for the same. you'll find many in Lajpat nagar. or reach some salon in any malls.

Tips: research on the prices before you go places for obvious reasons :)
On day 1 apply for a local sim card, affordable plus connectivity & access to maps, apps etc.
download the delhi metro map on your phone, can use traveller's card for getting around city (2$ for multiple entries all round the day)
note the woman's helpline number 1090 or delhi police 100. very supportive

Don't you just love these shoes?
Q. Okay so it was my birthday like two months ago but my aunt/godmother was away travelling and she says she wants to buy me something. So, I know that they're quite expensive but she usually get's me things like that since her and my uncle have no kids of their own.

When should males start buying from mens?

Q. I am 5 feet tall. my shoe size is 6.5, but i always wear a half size bigger so that i can make them last longer while i get newer shoes so i can have alot of them. And one more thing, whats the difference between Kids, Juniors, and Men. not really kids, andmen, but how is juniors different from men and kids and what is it? Also i'm turning 13 next month

A. My personal feeling is that you should star buying men's clothes when you start high school. This includes both men's departments, and also stores meant for both teens and young adults, like American Eagle and the like.

Also, in a department store, the differences are something like
Kids = for little kids
Juniors = trendy crap
Men's/Ladies = a variety of clothes meant for adults, or teenagers who prefer classics over weird fads and trends, but you have to find what's right for you because these sections have things meant for 15-year-olds all the way to things meant for 100-year-olds.

What does it mean by tendy night club attire when going to vegas?
Q. I am going to be in vegas in 2 months and wondering what to wear and examples for men and women. Need help with this and lots of ideas especially for men! Thanks

A. Trendy means whatever is most popular at that time. Backwards baseball caps and baggy pants were once trendy for young men but now a lot of clubs frown on that look. Fancy clubs usually have a dress code posted at their entrance and on their web site. When RA was in Luxor, I read their card, it said something about men having to wear a collared shirt, no tennis shoes (sneakers) allowed, no t-shirts, no jeans. Look up the clubs on Google and look for their dress codes.

For example, here's Pure's dress code:

http://www.caesarspalace.com/casinos/caesars-palace/casino-misc/pure-nightclub-detail.html

Dress Code:
Casual Chic: Fashionable attire is required. No sports jerseys, tank tops on men, tennis shoes or athletic wear of any kind will be permitted. The dress code is at management's discretion.

What shoes to wear in warm weather?

Q. It's starting to get warm here and I'm sick of wearing tennis shoes. I'm a 15 year old dude. Idk what to wear... Flip Flops, Boat Shoes, what else? I have women's target moccasins that I got for a Christmas gift and even tho they were women's and I looked like I was gay they were super comfy so I wore them like everyday in the winter to school and everything but they would look dumb with shorts

A. Flip flops are currently trendy. Flip flops have an association with "surfer dudes." Girls like guys in flip flops, because of that "surfer dude" look. You know, "surfer dudes" have a carefree personality, and girls are attracted to that.

If you want a more sophisticated look, you can wear boat shoes, without socks.

Other than that, you can go barefeet.

what kind of shoes or boots do you wear with a jean skirt?
Q. for winter that is. i know i can wear sandals when it is warm weather, but what about now?

A. Right now ankle boots are quite fashion forward. There are ankle boots with different heights of heels, different thicknesses of heels, they are elaborately detailed with stitching, fur trims, nailheads, etc or they are quite plain and simple. Zappos.com has lots of ankle boots on the site by many different boot makers. Also dressy just-below-the knee-boots are classics with denim skirts, wear with opaque tights the same colour as the boots for a long and lean look. Western boots and cowboy boots are showing up women who seem to be two steps ahead of fashion, so if you also want to be a bit ahead, that's a good option. Very young trendy women wear short denim skirts with leggings and flats or leggings and fur trimmed boots.

Please help fashion crisis!!:|?

Q. Alright this might be a little long but please bare with me and I'll try to sum it up at fast and as best as I can.
So first off I need a outfit check. My friends and I are going shopping tomorrow evening and I'm wearing a high wasted black pencil skirt with a striped yellow and grey shirt tucked in; the skirt goes a little above my knee. My first question is what shoes would look best with that outfit and what accessories? My second question is should I wear like black tights with it or no( I wasn't planning to but it rains 360 days out of the year where I live). And if you have hair suggestions that would be helpful too. I have long super curly red hair.

Next thing: this year I am going to be a sophomore and I'm going to a new school but I know only a few people there and I want to really wow them and make my next 3 years as a highschooler a good one. My parents are very successful in their businesses and get paid a very large amount but don't indulge their payments in things like cars, phones, clothing, stuff like that. My parents focus pretty much entirely on education. Which is fine with me but I have no money to buy cloths and they won't give me any. I'm starting to work soon and my goal is to get to $600 and go on a big back to school shopping spree. I HATE spending tons of money and not being satisfied with what I got. I usually shop all over but everything is sooo expensive and I don't really find what I want. Can someone help me on outfit ideas or just something to spark my imagination? Send me links or pictures of cute outfits. My style is pretty and girly but I'm an big athlet too so I have lots of sweatshirts. I want to be pushed out of my confert zone into like modern hippy and vintage with like some rock in it.... if that made any sence at all. So yeah help:)

Thank you guys soooooooo much for reading this it means a lot!!!:) 10 points to the best answer and my forever love:)

A. A MODern, semi-hippie/semi-athelete, college co-ed with long,. curly red hair can be pulled together and give an awesome impression to others..by eliminating anything trendy and focusing on basics.

Stepping out of one's comfort zone is important..especially with clothing/style options because it's remarkable how one is perceived when they alter the way they dress. It really does 'make the man' (or woman).

Example:
Let's say one dressed in faded jeans and t-shirts all the time. I can see why they would wonder about changing their look and style, especially when they're about to start college. An easy, do-able transition may be simple, cotton basics. A little more preppy vs hippie. (I like 'hippie', though).

Always check out outlet stores, outlet malls, and stores that offer name brand separates at much lower than dept. store prices. Dept. stores and trendy retail stores ARE too expensive. That's why smart consumers cut the costs by saving where they can.

Buying bulk packages of 100% cotton tanks, short and long sleeved cotton shirts, (even men's tanks) cost much less, and are virtually interchangeable with most things. Plain, cotton, solid color (black is a must) leggings are standard. A track suit (cotton), (navy, black or khaki colors), with a pair of track shoes easy.

-3 pair of flat-front, cotton, slim, (but not tight) low-rise pants. (black, khaki and navy)
-3 long sleeved cotton tops (black, khaki and navy)
-12-pack of cotton, ribbed tanks (black white and navy)
-2 cotton, cardigans (navy and black)
-2 longer flat-front cotton skirts (black and navy)
-2 over-sized, cotton, button-down, long-sleeved shirts (white and black)
-black and navy long-sleeved turtlenecks
-1 cute (black or navy) beret
- pair of really cute loafers
-black and navy leggings
=
100's of various combinations that can all be intermixed and easily mixed and matched.

black pants + black t-shirt + white cotton shirt tied at the waist.
khakis + navy t-shirt + navy cardigan
navy skirt + white shirt + navy cardigan
black pants + black tank + black cardigan
khaki skirt + navy tank + white cotton shirt and navy cardigan tied at the waist

Getting (or crocheting) one, long, cool-looking scarf in a bright, awesome color (like olive or bright red)..or one, bright red, over-sized sweater can be thrown on, over the top of every single combination and you'll appear to be really stylish, and so put together. Stick to monocromatic solid colors and neutrals = always appropriate. This style of dressing is known as the "French" style. It's effortless, and non-trendy = classic.

Basics always look pulled together and clean. Target, Gap, Old Navy, H & M are great for basics. Kmart, Walmart-type stores that sell packs of tanks and t-shirts = the best. Mix and match and don't allow yourself to buy anything trendy.

Mix & match-Secret to dressing Well

Interchangeable Clothes-Basic Starter wardrobe
http://www.define-your-style-clothes-magic.com/basic-mix-and-match-starter-wardrobe.html

Avoid anything trendy. Trendy isn't college attending, together, young female.
Trendy = tween/teen.
Bubblegum pink baby doll dresses, neon colors, logos = everyone would notice when/if you wore it again. Not practical. The trendier one dresses, the more they have to buy. Mainly because trendy items don't mix well with standard basics. They're out of style practically the day they're purchased. Neon purple is only a "hit" for a couple of weeks and then it's a "miss".

Standard basics can be purchased at outlet stores, Target (really cute stuff), or even local thrift stores have basics. Who cares if they were 'previously worn'..if they're cute, basic, and fit well.

When one dresses with clean, "preppy", mix and match basics, the impression is that person is together. She's organized, she's smart, she's not trendy, she's not misguided, she's not immature, she's not driven by knee-jerk decisions = all good.

can you help me with this? PLEASE HELP?
Q. how can i dress like a 1940's or 1950's woman? i am fascinated by the styles and way of life and etiquette back then. please help me. i want help on slang, dress, etiquette, and way of life. thank you kindly.

A. The early 1940s were difficult because of wartime shortages of fabric. This explains the short, often skimpy skirts on dresses made of easily creased rayon. To compensate for the skirts, shoulders were extending with padding. Not terribly attractive really. On the plus side, though, many women went into factories, which gave them a excuse to wear slacks without being frowned upon as 'loose women'. Also, because their heads had to be covered with scarves for safety reasons, they could wear curlers during their working hours, and take them out in the evening. Remember, no hair spray or electric curling iron or mousse then, so those old metal curlers came in handy! Peep toed shoes with platform soles were trendy, if a woman could get her hands on a pair. Accessories were minimal - again because of wartime shortages and a more casual attitude toward clothing - few men to impress, during those war years. And since stockings were scarce, orangey tanning lotion was applied to bare legs, with a 'seam' down the back, drawn on with an eye-brow pencil.

In 1947, with the war over, the Christian Dior's New Look came in. This meant much longer skirts, which were considered more feminine because they had enough fabric in them to swirl around the lower calves. And with real stockings, no less! Looser hairstyles took over from the rolled pompadour of the war years.

Then came the '50s. Fashioned changed little over this entire decade. Undergarments consisted of garter belts or girdles, tightly fitted pointy bras, full or half-slips, panties that covered the entire bottom and belly, and nylon hose with seams. Shoes varied from flat 'ballerina' slippers to tapered high heels to 'fruit boots', which were pixie style flats. For casual wear there were penny loafers and saddle-shoes. Skirts were worn at mid-calf, often held at the waist with an elastic cinch belt. If a woman leant to the side, the belt would fold in half and have to be tugged back into place. Also they were so tightly fitted that the waistband of a skirt would pop out from beneath them. Sweaters and blouses were often made of nylon, the latter see-through, worn over a camisole or full slip, trimmed with lace.

Going formal meant a strapless dress with a multi-layered net skirt, worn over a crinoline petticoat. Extra glamour was achieved by adding dyed-to-match satin shoes and elbow length gloves. Hair spray came into use in the late fifties, which meant the days of having a guy 'run his fingers through your hair' were over. That spray was like glue. Hair was often streaked, but only streak per 'do', usually achieved by applying straight peroxide or a product called Light 'n Bright. Hairstyles such as the Italian Boy, Pixie Cut, Poodle Cut and Pony Tail were 'in'. (So was virginity, but we won't go there.) Hats with veils and white gloves were worn when dressed up, especially for church. And by the late fifties, hats had little fabric-covered clamp affairs on the sides, to keep them in place. Swim suits were elasticized, covered most of the torso, and had a little panel at the front to hide the 'private' area. Needless to say, no waxing was required. Short shorts usually had cuffs and were often worn with a cotton blouse, with the bottom buttons undone, so the tails could be tied to saucily reveal the midriff. Oh, and there were pedal pushers, peasant blouses, peasant skirts, and 'straight' skirts, with a slit or two or a pinch pleat at the hem for walking purposes. Clothes were, for the most part, uncomfortable. As was the way of life, really.

All this blethering and Ive not even touched on etiquette or slang. Just a bit on that then. Young persons respected their elders, whether they agreed with them or not. These were days when an adult, any adult, could keep a young person in place with a threat or a swipe. Girls, good girls that is, could keep a guy in his place too. Most girls feared having a bad reputation. It honestly mattered. As for slang, it depended on your neighborhood, and the year. Most of it can be found in songs for these eras. Well, Ive overdone it, I think. But hope Ive helped a bit.

What is a trendy dress shoe?
Q. I am 18 and my pair of Polo Sport shoes is very worn out. I am looking for another pair of dress shoes to wear to church and formal occasions that is still trendy, not something like Dockers or anything. Are Polo Sports still in style or is there another "hip" shoe that has taken its place?

Does this shoe color look too old ladyish? I am a young 30 year old woman?

Q. http://www.onlineshoes.com/productpage.asp?gen=w&pcid=108937

Was hoping to match them with gray suit I own.

A. Pink isn't an old lady color but the style of the shoes isn't that great. I like the Franco Sarto peeptoe pumps in Chili Red suede better. The style is trendy but not over the top and they would really look great with a gray suit!! : )

Q. What do you think? Also, what type of bottoms look good with them?

A. no, they are not in anymore unfortunatly.
flat heeled wedges are very trendy for spring 2011 though.
go take a look at your local DSW or any shoe store and you can find cute ones.

Spring trends for 2011? Need SERIOUS fashion help!?
Q. Hey y'all.

So basically, I'm a sweat pants and sweat shirt type of gal. I kind of fell into the winter blues this year, which naturally meant me slumming it out at school in messy sweats every day. I don't think there's anything wrong with sweats (at all) but when it becomes an everyday thing (and when I'm even wearing stained ones) it kind of becomes problematic. I also gained a little bit of weight this winter which also makes me want to hide away in sweats (for lack of a less dramatic term).

It's starting to warm up a little bit again and I'm really wanting to look cute for the 2011 spring and summer! I'm saving up a little bit from my job so I can afford a little bit more because I am in SERIOUS need of new clothes; most of mine are ripped, stained, stretched, or just way to old and worn out. I have enough to pretty much buy the spring essentials, but I was just wondering about you would recommend me to buy for this new year.

Please provide really detailed examples and if you'd like to (I'd love you for it), post links of things you think are cute or that I should add to my closet. I'm basically fashion challenged so post anything you think is cute AND COMFORTABLE. :) Comfort is key for me!
And listen ... any input is greatly appreciated ... anything at all!!

Thanks so much in advance!
Sorry for the grammar mistakes ... I just noticed a bunch of them. Oops!

and THANKS so much for the answers so far.

A. First off, stock up on tons of basics. It's different for every girl, but they should just be pieces that you wear A LOT (jeans, shirts, etc.) and that fit your personal style the best. They should also be pieces that you can wear throughout the seasons, winter, spring, summer. Since you're going to be wearing these a lot, splurge more on basics. The more basics you have, the more options. For example, some of my basics are:

Blazers
White oxfords or button downs
Tights in tons of patterns and colors
Slouchy cardigans
A pair of HIGH heels
Tons of vintage jewelry
A-line skirts (I'm short and petite)
A leather handbag

This way, you won't need to purchase a completely new wardrobe. Just mix in the basics you have with your trendier and warmer pieces. Since it's spring, instead of completely renovating my wardrobe, I only need to buy several things like linen shorts, floral dresses, etc. In the long term, it will save you a LOT of money. And when Fall comes around use the same basics to match with newer purchases.

That's why it's best to spend more money on things you wear a lot. I always buy trendier pieces at cheap stores like Forever 21 because they have SO many styles and whatnot at good prices.e As for my basics, I get them high-end at places like Comme des Garcons, Opening Ceremony, or Barneys. It can be expensive but since they have amazing sales on good basic items, I don't need to buy too many things. As for shoes, I always splurge on these. After all, you're going to be walking around in them all day. Instead of concentrating on quantity, focus on QUALITY. My basics have lasted me for years since I get them cleaned seasonally. Take care of your clothes and they take care of you.

Hope I helped!

Ladies what kind of clothes do you like on men? Like styles, brands, stores ect.?

Q. Im a 20 year old slim male. I feel like im starting to grow out of the clothing stores I used to shop at as a teenager, maybe this is a sign of me becoming more mature! Haha but anyways I'd be helpful to hear some girls opinion on what looks good on a guy my age, what syles they like, and any good stores I should shop at. Thanks :)

A. My heart always skips a couple beats when I see a man in Burberry.

As far as styling goes, I'm head over heels for guys who channel their inner trendy professor- slightly disheveled but also very dapper. Bonus points for argyle, elbow patches, sneakers, and geeky glasses. For a more casual look, go for premium denim and a James Perse v-neck, paired with a high end hoodie, if climate control is necessary. Make sure you wear good shoes. Women are obsessed with shoes.

On to brands. Designer clothing is king. Once again, I love Burberry. Marc Jacobs is another one of my favorites. Ralph Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, and basically anything from Barneys are all good bets. If those are out your range, try perusing their look books for inspiration and then book it to H&M or Urban Outfitters.

My favorite store for men by far is J.Crew. The style/cost/quality ratio is perfect, and they are always willing to help. If you have a large budget make the sales associates at Saks, Neimans, and Nordstrom your new bff. Otherwise, go for well made store brands for basics, and supplement them with trendier pieces from Urban Outfitters, Forever 21.

All that being said, be true to yourself. Trust me, women will notice.

Looking for a good brand of hiking shoes...any recommendations?
Q. Please reply only if you know from experience...I am not looking for something trendy. I am looking for something durable, waterproof, and that can withstand (and keep me from falling) rocks, eroded hills/mountains, mud, etc. Thanks for any advice!

A. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking. I have tried many different hiking boots over the years including Asolo, Danner, Merrell and HiTech without finding that perfect pair. My biggest complaints are that many were too narrow and nearly all would lose their tread or have holes worn in the sides or toe within a year.

Last year after hearing rave-reviews from friends who had them, I bought a pair of REI Leather Monarch hiking-boots (waterproof Gore-Tex version) and these have been a great pair of boots - by the far the best that I have ever had. I understand that the shoe is actually built by Raichle (a hiking boot company in Europe) and sold under the REI brand.

They are very comfortable, provide good ankle-support and have held up extremely well. I have put over 400 hundred miles on them in the last year and a half (including a 100 mile trip on Mount Rainier's Wonderland Trail and two trips to the bottom of the Grand Canyon) and they are still going strong. Perhaps the thing that I am most impressed with are the Vibram rubber soles - they still have excellent tread on them. Every other boot I have had before needed to be re-soled after about 300 miles (especially Asolo boots). I have also heard good things about Vasque, but have never owned a pair.

That being said, boots are one of the most personal hiking items and what is perfect for one person may be terrible for somebody else. Certain brands seem to be better for certain shapes of feet. While finding a reliable well-made brand is important, it is even more important that the boots fit and feel comfortable. If the shoe that fits best and feels right is some low-cost no-name brand that no else likes - go with it (and if they wear out quickly, buy an extra pair with the money you save :) ).

Go into a hiking shop and try on a number of different brands and spend a little time walking around the store in each (and going up and down the little fake slopes that many have). Wear whatever socks you would normally wear while hiking and try to go at the end of the day when your feet are somewhat more swollen and expanded than at any other time of the day. You want a snug fit at the heel, but wiggle room for the toes.

If you have an REI store near you, I have found that their salespeople (most of whom are hikers and campers) are more knowledgable and helpful than if you were to go to a shoe store or sporting goods store.
