Please help fashion crisis!!:|?

Q. Alright this might be a little long but please bare with me and I'll try to sum it up at fast and as best as I can.
So first off I need a outfit check. My friends and I are going shopping tomorrow evening and I'm wearing a high wasted black pencil skirt with a striped yellow and grey shirt tucked in; the skirt goes a little above my knee. My first question is what shoes would look best with that outfit and what accessories? My second question is should I wear like black tights with it or no( I wasn't planning to but it rains 360 days out of the year where I live). And if you have hair suggestions that would be helpful too. I have long super curly red hair.

Next thing: this year I am going to be a sophomore and I'm going to a new school but I know only a few people there and I want to really wow them and make my next 3 years as a highschooler a good one. My parents are very successful in their businesses and get paid a very large amount but don't indulge their payments in things like cars, phones, clothing, stuff like that. My parents focus pretty much entirely on education. Which is fine with me but I have no money to buy cloths and they won't give me any. I'm starting to work soon and my goal is to get to $600 and go on a big back to school shopping spree. I HATE spending tons of money and not being satisfied with what I got. I usually shop all over but everything is sooo expensive and I don't really find what I want. Can someone help me on outfit ideas or just something to spark my imagination? Send me links or pictures of cute outfits. My style is pretty and girly but I'm an big athlet too so I have lots of sweatshirts. I want to be pushed out of my confert zone into like modern hippy and vintage with like some rock in it.... if that made any sence at all. So yeah help:)

Thank you guys soooooooo much for reading this it means a lot!!!:) 10 points to the best answer and my forever love:)

A. A MODern, semi-hippie/semi-athelete, college co-ed with long,. curly red hair can be pulled together and give an awesome impression to others..by eliminating anything trendy and focusing on basics.

Stepping out of one's comfort zone is important..especially with clothing/style options because it's remarkable how one is perceived when they alter the way they dress. It really does 'make the man' (or woman).

Example:
Let's say one dressed in faded jeans and t-shirts all the time. I can see why they would wonder about changing their look and style, especially when they're about to start college. An easy, do-able transition may be simple, cotton basics. A little more preppy vs hippie. (I like 'hippie', though).

Always check out outlet stores, outlet malls, and stores that offer name brand separates at much lower than dept. store prices. Dept. stores and trendy retail stores ARE too expensive. That's why smart consumers cut the costs by saving where they can.

Buying bulk packages of 100% cotton tanks, short and long sleeved cotton shirts, (even men's tanks) cost much less, and are virtually interchangeable with most things. Plain, cotton, solid color (black is a must) leggings are standard. A track suit (cotton), (navy, black or khaki colors), with a pair of track shoes easy.

-3 pair of flat-front, cotton, slim, (but not tight) low-rise pants. (black, khaki and navy)
-3 long sleeved cotton tops (black, khaki and navy)
-12-pack of cotton, ribbed tanks (black white and navy)
-2 cotton, cardigans (navy and black)
-2 longer flat-front cotton skirts (black and navy)
-2 over-sized, cotton, button-down, long-sleeved shirts (white and black)
-black and navy long-sleeved turtlenecks
-1 cute (black or navy) beret
- pair of really cute loafers
-black and navy leggings
=
100's of various combinations that can all be intermixed and easily mixed and matched.

black pants + black t-shirt + white cotton shirt tied at the waist.
khakis + navy t-shirt + navy cardigan
navy skirt + white shirt + navy cardigan
black pants + black tank + black cardigan
khaki skirt + navy tank + white cotton shirt and navy cardigan tied at the waist

Getting (or crocheting) one, long, cool-looking scarf in a bright, awesome color (like olive or bright red)..or one, bright red, over-sized sweater can be thrown on, over the top of every single combination and you'll appear to be really stylish, and so put together. Stick to monocromatic solid colors and neutrals = always appropriate. This style of dressing is known as the "French" style. It's effortless, and non-trendy = classic.

Basics always look pulled together and clean. Target, Gap, Old Navy, H & M are great for basics. Kmart, Walmart-type stores that sell packs of tanks and t-shirts = the best. Mix and match and don't allow yourself to buy anything trendy.

Interchangeable Clothes-Basic Starter wardrobe

Avoid anything trendy. Trendy isn't college attending, together, young female.
Trendy = tween/teen.
Bubblegum pink baby doll dresses, neon colors, logos = everyone would notice when/if you wore it again. Not practical. The trendier one dresses, the more they have to buy. Mainly because trendy items don't mix well with standard basics. They're out of style practically the day they're purchased. Neon purple is only a "hit" for a couple of weeks and then it's a "miss".

Standard basics can be purchased at outlet stores, Target (really cute stuff), or even local thrift stores have basics. Who cares if they were 'previously worn'..if they're cute, basic, and fit well.

When one dresses with clean, "preppy", mix and match basics, the impression is that person is together. She's organized, she's smart, she's not trendy, she's not misguided, she's not immature, she's not driven by knee-jerk decisions = all good.

Low Self-Esteem: I never like what I wear!!?
Q. Hello I am a 19 year old college student. I think I have low self-esteem. Well I am a Latina short about 5'1 and I do have wide hips (not scary huge) and my weight is around 135-140. The problem is that I never like what I wear. Every time I shop for jeans they never look good, well at least that's the way I feel. I love wearing shorts because that's about the only bottoms I actually feel good wearing, including dresses. I feel like not a lot of clothes looks good on me, though. I am very confused of my body type as well. And every time i lot at magazines or google how petite girls are supposed to wear I only get petite slim girls with no to small hips. If someone here is a fashionista or some kind of self esteem counselor please help me!!!
I just read over my question and I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense!

A. There are a couple/few things going on here:

>
You're likely shopping at Junior stores (Forever 21 type stores and shops that focus on the tween/teen market) The majority of the clothing in Junior stores has been designed, constructed, fit and manufactured on very small Asian women. If a curvy female wears a size 2 in womens clothing, she may walk into a Junior store and be stunned to learn that she has to buy a large or an XL. Junior clothes are not designed with curves in mind..everything is (basically) perfect if one is built like an 11 yr old boy. Curvy teen girls are sad when none of the Junior, trendy-type clothing looks or feels right on them.

Clothing that has been produced for the Latin market is quite different. Everything is generously cut, using fit models that are fully bummed and curvy. Some women will purchase their jeans and trousers ONLY at websites that are for the Latina/Latin market.

>
When you shop, you're likely buying the first cutest thing you see..without bringing a list. You HAVE to have a list, mija. Anyone who sits, dazed and confused..in front of a closet that's jammed with clothing..and yet HAS NOTHING TO WEAR (all of us at one time or another)
=
This person is succumbing to "impulse buying" :clothing that is too trendy and goes with nothing they already own.

The result is lots of clothes but nothing to wear. Nobody wants to be buy basics. We ALL detest buying a plain pair of khakis when we see something cuter and more exciting. But we NEED them.

Sit down with your closet and re-organize into piles;
I wear

I will NEVER wear

Maybe

Donate the Never's to charity immediately. Now go through the rest.

You need
Black jeans
cargos
thick, black (quality) supportive leggings
skinny jeans
NOT-skinny jeans (boot cut)
solid cotton plain dresses
solid (no logo), extra long, stretchy tanks and t-shirts in black, white, and neutrals
solid colored mini cardis
denim shirt
white shirt
(both can be used a million ways).

black flats,
sneakers, etc.
(I won't go on, you get the picture I'm sure).
You need basic, "boring", neutral pants, skirts, cardies, shirts, long sleeved as well as tanks. You need BASICS.

Make a list and stick to it.

Start dressing in a monochromatic way
=
one solid color from head to toe (it elongates the body and makes the person look thinner)

>
Stop shopping in Junior stores. You're too curvy for that. You're a woman and little girls clothing won't work. Buy some stretchy body shaper tops (really cute and look like long tank tops) but re-shape the whole torso (you'll LOVE). Make a list and get your basics out of the way. No impulse buying until you have your basics. (wear a track suit everywhere you go until you like what you have in your closet) People will think you're really healthy and active. btw; you NEED at least 2 cute track suits..put it on your list. NOT pink. Black, navy or white.

PS
No trendy shoes, either. You need basics that can be worn with e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g (like black flats, plain white Keds and UGGs)

comfortable dress shoes?

Q. I am an interior design intern (still two more years to graduation), and was wondering what your most comfortable dress shoes are. I've been wearing flats, and they're SO flat that the bottoms of my feet are bruised. The fabric on the cheaper shoes also irritated the bottoms of my feet. =(

I dressed up at a previous job, and any dress shoes were fine because I sat down all day, but at this job I am on my feet 90% of the day. And I wait tables at night, so I'm on my feet then too. I have great serving shoes, but I have to dress up at the internship.

These women (and men) are extremely well dressed. I absolutely cannot look out of date or not stylish. I did buy two pairs today, one was the brand Bare Traps, and the others are Nurture by Dillard's. I don't care how expensive, I just need stylish classy dressy shoes that aren't going to kill my feet. I tried on Naturalizers and they hurt. It's like I'm running a marathon, I need them to be as comfortable as the tennis shoes I'm not allowed to wear.

Is this possible?? The two pairs I got are pretty amazing. The Bare Traps are brown sandals with thick cushy soles. The Nurture are black 2 1/2" pumps. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Save my feet AND my wardrobe!!!

A. I would suggest purchasing some Dr. Scholl's shoes. They're very trendy and professional but they keep you comfortable:

http://www.drschollsshoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1107893&pg=5012872

However, if you just want regular shoes, I would suggest investing in one pair of loafers (wedge or flat), one pair of close-toe pumps and one pair of peep-toe sandals. This basic variety of shoes is perfect for transitioning from waiting tables to your internship. If you still find them uncomfortable, simply use Dr. Scholl's inserts for better cushioning and arch support:

what are the current trends in clothes shops?

Q. I have a job interview in a clothes shop and was wondering what current fashion trends are.

A. I don't follow women's fashion but I can provide the guys' trends for fall 2012 through summer 2013, or at least how they're predicted to be. This is according to major runway shows in Europe, so trends in American stores or unique shops will vary.

Some general trends: Slim pants/jeans (sometimes skinny), rolled up once or twice, JACKETS, hairstyles that are short on the sides/back and styled on top, accessories like watches and bracelets always make you look more stylish

Fall 2012 has some very light blues and oranges leftover from summer 2012 but they're only thrown in. Mainly, it's getting darker with blacks and grays, occasionally an obscure white or yellow dominated outfit. "A play on fabric" as Armani calls it is trendy, mixing different patterns and fabrics that you wouldn't normally match, as long as they go together in color. Outfits should stay simple and sleek though.

Winter 2012-13 is best described as "dark" and sometimes "tribal" with almost all black, brown and gray on jackets, pants and shoes/belts. Fabric play still revealant: For example, charcoal sweater with leather jacket throw-over.

Spring/summer 2013 should be sleek and include Mediterranean colors not only in just clothes but especially accessories. Like turquoise belts/shoes, bags and shirt accents. "Easter" colors is a good way to put it also. The base colors are blue and green.

Has anyone made money on ebay?
Q. basically, what i want to do is buy quality clothes and shoes from thrift stores and resell them on ebay. aftering shipping and fees, it would appear at first glance to not be that profitable. has anyone tried doing this?

A. I've been doing exactly that part-time since March 2011, and by January 2012 I had made PowerSeller and Top-Rated Seller. There's an entire group of people on the eBay discussion boards (clothing category) who do this, many full-time.

It's not a get-rich-quick scheme, but if you are dedicated to it and have good thrift stores in your area, it is a get-rich-slow scheme. You have to come up with what works for you. I tend to sell what I personally like, which is classic styles in larger women's sizes (12 to 3X). Some sellers have good luck with expensive name brands, trendy teens' jeans and sneakers, baby clothes, or whatever. Good luck!

Question about clothing (boys)?

Q. Hi, I'm italian and in Italy young people spend lots of money to buy fashionable clothes (Nike airmax/airforce, tight Carrera Jeans, Ralph Lauren shirt with a necklace underneath, hair sticking up with gel and for some an earing on one ear is typical way of an italian male to dress. Is it the same in the US? I've heard americans tend to dress more confortable than trendy. Oh one last question: in Italy abercrombie and fitch and Hollister are considered very cool because it's american clothing (also college like sweaters have big success) but do you like these brands? Thanx!!!

A. A lot of teens & young adults do dress as you all do. Inner city kids, teens, adults usually go for the trend instead of comfort. One earring in the left ear is common for boys sometimes 2. Hollister & Ambercrombie & Fitch are very popular. Although, not every one in America dresses the same. Older people usually go for comfort instead of style.

I wear a lot of those brands. Most of my clothes are American Eagle, Ralph Lauren, Levi Jeans, Nike Shoes, some Adidas, no earrings. I graduated high school this year. People at my school wore the Hollister, Jordans, Airmax, Tru Religion, etc.

The hair gel is usually with the Latinos and Italians. No one else does the gel. Never heard of the Carrera Jeans & Aeropostale is out of style here. We do wear the college 'sweaters' we call them hoodies.

A. I was just there about a week ago. Most of the guys i saw were wearing board shorts, and either tanks, t-shirts, or golf shirts with them. Some had trendy jeans, with golf shirts, or collared shirts. As for shoes .. a lot had flip flops on.. or trendy trainer type shoes.

There really was some of everything. I did notice when i was downtown in the city that everyone was dressed very trendy and business like for work.

They seem pretty trendy there.. but have a look of thier own.

When you're there go check out Glenelg on a weekend. It's pretty fun.

Stylish but not Trendy Casual Shoes for Men?

Q. I am a man looking for a different type of shoe. I have a pair of Jordan High tops and White Nike Low tops for casual wear. I hate when people jump on the bandwagon for fashion and getting something just because everyone else has it. For example, in my high school, Vans Authentic shoes and Sperry boating shoes (Boys & Girls) are very popular. I really like the Vans, but everybody has them and I refuse to buy them.

It would be nice if people could leave some suggestions on some shoes that are stylish and attractive (FOR MEN) but not really trendy. I'm sure that it will be mostly women that answer this question, so this is the question for the women. What do you think looks attractive on men?

Also, I am in high school. I'm an upperclassmen. Thanks! :)

A. Confidence looks attractive.

As far as footwear: loafers, oxfords/brogues, sneakers, tennis/running shoes, sandals, boots, boat shoes (Sperry's are a classic, not a trend. My grandfather has lived in them [and moccasins] for as long as I have been alive), moccasins, etc.

Tip for trendy shoes... ?
Q. I wears converses all time and I wants a different style of shoe.. I'm sixteen and is there any good stylish walking shoes for me? I'm from Canada. Don't give out some American stores that aren't in Canada.
Thanks!

A. Brand NameUGG Boots
OriginalAustralia
MaterialsSheepskin
UGG advantage: versatility, super warm, comfortable, cute
UGG disadvantage: heavy, wearing them will make you seems stubborn
For what people: women, men, old, young all people
What to wear with: jeans, legging, trench and so on.

Spring trends for 2011? Need SERIOUS fashion help!?

Q. Hey y'all.

So basically, I'm a sweat pants and sweat shirt type of gal. I kind of fell into the winter blues this year, which naturally meant me slumming it out at school in messy sweats every day. I don't think there's anything wrong with sweats (at all) but when it becomes an everyday thing (and when I'm even wearing stained ones) it kind of becomes problematic. I also gained a little bit of weight this winter which also makes me want to hide away in sweats (for lack of a less dramatic term).

It's starting to warm up a little bit again and I'm really wanting to look cute for the 2011 spring and summer! I'm saving up a little bit from my job so I can afford a little bit more because I am in SERIOUS need of new clothes; most of mine are ripped, stained, stretched, or just way to old and worn out. I have enough to pretty much buy the spring essentials, but I was just wondering about you would recommend me to buy for this new year.

Please provide really detailed examples and if you'd like to (I'd love you for it), post links of things you think are cute or that I should add to my closet. I'm basically fashion challenged so post anything you think is cute AND COMFORTABLE. :) Comfort is key for me!
And listen ... any input is greatly appreciated ... anything at all!!

Thanks so much in advance!
Sorry for the grammar mistakes ... I just noticed a bunch of them. Oops!

and THANKS so much for the answers so far.

A. First off, stock up on tons of basics. It's different for every girl, but they should just be pieces that you wear A LOT (jeans, shirts, etc.) and that fit your personal style the best. They should also be pieces that you can wear throughout the seasons, winter, spring, summer. Since you're going to be wearing these a lot, splurge more on basics. The more basics you have, the more options. For example, some of my basics are:

Blazers
White oxfords or button downs
Tights in tons of patterns and colors
Slouchy cardigans
A pair of HIGH heels
Tons of vintage jewelry
A-line skirts (I'm short and petite)
A leather handbag

This way, you won't need to purchase a completely new wardrobe. Just mix in the basics you have with your trendier and warmer pieces. Since it's spring, instead of completely renovating my wardrobe, I only need to buy several things like linen shorts, floral dresses, etc. In the long term, it will save you a LOT of money. And when Fall comes around use the same basics to match with newer purchases.

That's why it's best to spend more money on things you wear a lot. I always buy trendier pieces at cheap stores like Forever 21 because they have SO many styles and whatnot at good prices.e As for my basics, I get them high-end at places like Comme des Garcons, Opening Ceremony, or Barneys. It can be expensive but since they have amazing sales on good basic items, I don't need to buy too many things. As for shoes, I always splurge on these. After all, you're going to be walking around in them all day. Instead of concentrating on quantity, focus on QUALITY. My basics have lasted me for years since I get them cleaned seasonally. Take care of your clothes and they take care of you.

Hope I helped!

Why are polish women who "came off the boat" so trashy?

Q. I live in a city that has a really high population of polish girls who moved here from Poland. They are 100 percent, straight off the boat polish. Why is it that they act and dress so trashy? These girls when they show up for church wear short skirts, heavy makeup, and pink high heels! These girls are still teenagers. Alot of them are 15 and 16 years old! Alot of them become strippers as well and they drink pretty heavy at a young age. What is it about these women that make them so trashy? What is sad is their mothers and fathers allow them to be like this in front of them!

A. Like you, I live in a city that has one of the largest population of Poles outside of Poland and I have also been to Poland for 4 weeks, travelling to various cities and towns. I must say that your view of Poles is flawed at best. Unlike you, I believe that Poles are very traditional and conservative people when compared to Americans, Japanese, and Western Europeans. I think this is due to their Catholic faith and limited adoption of the pop cultural values that we in the West enjoy.

If Polish women, or any other Eastern European women for that matter, appear to be "trashy" by the way the dress and behave or are easily seduced into the underground world of sex and sex culture, it has to do with various social factors that are coming into play. Many people outside of the U.S. and Western Europe think that we value "sexiness" far above anything else in our women. It is wrongfully assumed that American, German or Italian women are easy or have no issues with one-night stands, etc. It is also wrongfully assumed, thanks to our stupid Hollywood movies, that our young people are party animals, like beer over books, consume pornography and fast food, and that women love to show their breasts and thongs, guys are into bodybuilding and weed, and girls love to wear mini skirts and hot pants. Thus, when Polish women leave their home country these are the values that they think is the norm in their new homeland. In other words, they have a poor understanding of what "cool", "sexy" or "trendy" is; it is all part of the acculturation process. This confusion increases when they themselves are from rural or small cities or villages, come from the bottom of the economic ladder back home, and have a poor formal education.

Another is issue is that they have different cultural values. A 15- or 16-year-old in the U.S., Europe or Japan likes to wear ripped jeans with t-shirts, sport a shaggy haircut, and use snickers or tennis shoes as part of the casual attire. This look is not well-looked upon in Poland. It is considered sloppy and unattractive. Slacks, skirts and shirts are the norm, with young people wearing the more tighter or shorter fit. Thus, a 16-year-old girl wears short skirts, boots or shoes, blouse and jacket even if those items were from last year, the colors are horrendous, or are just old from repeated use.

Poverty is another issue. A person with limited means cannot afford better clothes or be in tuned with the latest trends in fashion. A poor woman is easily seduced by the prospects of making a lot of money in the sex industry or having a rich old boyfriend, especially if they are Poles or Eastern European--they are White/Caucasian, many of them are blonde with light color eyes, and this aura of being seductresses or femme fatale have embraced them. There are some that do exploit their "assets" (blonde, Polish, sexy, etc) like in any other ethnic group but they are few and far between.

I hope that I have cast some light to some of the issues as to why you see them the way you do. And by the way, I don't have a single drop of Polish blood in my veins nor am I connected via marriage or partner with someone from Poland or Eastern Europe, in case you're curious.

What shoes to wear in warm weather?
Q. It's starting to get warm here and I'm sick of wearing tennis shoes. I'm a 15 year old dude. Idk what to wear... Flip Flops, Boat Shoes, what else? I have women's target moccasins that I got for a Christmas gift and even tho they were women's and I looked like I was gay they were super comfy so I wore them like everyday in the winter to school and everything but they would look dumb with shorts

A. Flip flops are currently trendy. Flip flops have an association with "surfer dudes." Girls like guys in flip flops, because of that "surfer dude" look. You know, "surfer dudes" have a carefree personality, and girls are attracted to that.

If you want a more sophisticated look, you can wear boat shoes, without socks.

Other than that, you can go barefeet.

Why do some women interfere when their partner tends to buy shoes?

Moms do you like close toed shoes for yourself?
Q. I usually only wear open toe shoes, even in winter and don't even have any close toe shoes other than tennies. I need some cute shoes that will go with dress pants. Twill or slacks. What can I wear that will be cute and trendy with a heel on them? But semi comfortable. Stylish (not frumpy) to emphasize on the style.

Asking here because the right section is over loaded with kids going back to school. =( And women married or not like shoes right! Thanks!

Fashion disaster (ME)!
names of brands and stores please!
No I don't own a pair of boots right now. Sad I know but hey that is what happens when you (live in gym clothes and shuffle kids from point a to point b for X amount of time. Thanks OK for the brand to look for.
Salacious crumb I just saw the cutest pair on line! RED! I thought they were cute but then I have been out of the loop of fashion for far too long so I thought I should ask. Those are already on my list!
p.s. I love Salacious Crumb!
for the love of accuracy here for crying out LOUD!

"Men what type of close toe shoe do you prefer to see your wife in?" There now I am legit on my post.

A. go to Nordstrom. Walk up to a shoe girl.

Tell her you want to try on a number of styles with a "Mary-Jane" toe. it is cute; it flairs and rounds ever so slighty at the toe so it is comfy and stylish.

jesus i am *this* close to being gay for all the sh* t i have had to listen to about women's shoes.

i could walk in there and run the friggin' place.

what are the current trends in clothes shops?

Shoes to wear in the fall?
Q. I need a pair of shoes for the fall to wear to school. Basically shoes for days when its too cold for flip flops or sandles, and too warm for uggs. I dont like sneakers. Any ideas?
I'm a girl btw:p
I'm a girl btw:p

A. Well... You might just want to go to a store and ask the sales person for a shoe that's right for you. Personally, I would go for a pair of boots ( very in for the fall-winter season), ballet flats, high heels, or a pair of creepers ( which are like platformed converse without the sneaker look and again are a very trendy thing this upcoming season according to TeenVogue)

A. ii am looking for comfortable shoes that you will feel confident wearing...

=)

What can I do to help my tired feet?? I recently went back to work and dress shoes are killing me! Help!?
Q. And yes, I buy expensive shoes so that isn't the problem!!!

A. Price is not the issue. Wear trendy dressy shoes that do not have pointy toes or pencil heels. A more rounded toe is much better for your feet. If you regularly where pointed toe shoes, your toes will stay that way and you will get bunions. I have seen it before, it is disgusting. The lower the heel the better. Higher heels look more dressy, so stick with a clunkier heel. They are much easier to walk in and do not put as much stress on your feet and legs. When you get home soak and massage your feet.

What are the most popular teen stores right now?

Q. I'm 14 and I need a new wardrobe! I have no style :( What stores are really popular? What types of clothing are "in"? I have about $300 of birthday money to spend. Thanks everybody!!!!!

A. Definitely forever21 for cheap clothes and on trend stuff.
Wetseal is pretty cheap and similar to forever21, and so is Love Culture.
Try nordstrom (rack) for great quality pieces. If you go to a regular nordstrom, though, the stuff is so expensive :o
Free People and Brandy Melville are super popular right now (and they have a lot of "in" stuff), but both are a bit pricier than your typical mall store.
If you are willing to wear second hand clothes, try Plato's Closet - its like a thrift store but a bit more expensive because it only carries brand name clothes that are in trend right now. Its still way cheaper than the original prices even though its more expensive that somewhere like Goodwill or a consignment shop.
Tilly's, Francesca's, Kohl's, Macy's, Charlotte Russe, Aeropostale, delias, Old Navy or Gap, Garage (), and Zara are some other places to try.Target has everything - makeup, accessories, school supplies, and clothes so I would recommend at least checking that out. And the prices are really good too!

Clothing trends are:
Jumpers/pullovers are supposedly going to be in for winter, paired with jeans or leggings.
Cardigans are always great :D
Oxblood/burgundy/maroon is the color of this fall/winter so pick up some stuff in that color for this school year. I have a pair of jeans in this color that I love. So soft, and the shade is perfect! http://www.joefresh.com/en/product/corduroy-jean-5
Tribal prints were in for summer and spring, but I think as we transition into fall not many people are going to be wearing tribal prints any more. Same with colored jeans and neon pants.
Flannel and plaid shirts are definitely in. Just button downs in general.
Flowy tops are trendy right now, something like this: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?productId=2371_9891_131 I would pair this with a scarf and skinny jeans and any type of shoe as an outfit :D
Peter pan collared tops were in this summer, not sure if they will stay for the whole school year.
Patterned, like floral or polka dotted jeans, are trendy right now. You can get really cute ones at AE.
BLAZERS! Especially for the chilly days in fall, I would get a fitted blazer for school.
Definitely combat boots and riding boots. Furry slippers (like ugg slippers) were in last winter, not sure about 2012. These are the combat boots I really want, but none of the colors are in my size >.< http://www.urbanog.com/Lug-11-Military-Lace-Up-Mid-Calf-Boot_174_15411.html

What's the BIGGEST mistake plus sized girls make in fashion?
Q. Be specific and offer suggestions as well

A. I would agree with most of the above comments that plus sized women do make poor decisions when it comes to clothing sizes being too small. But in the same sense if a plus sized woman wears a "moo moo" which simply drapes over her body, then she will seem figureless and in turn look much larger than she is.
I have been heavier set for a good portion of my life, and it's hard to find trendy clothes without looking horrible in them (they just don't make plus sized clothes fashonable). But there is no reason to try to stuff yourself into a pair of pants that is to small just to look "in style"

Lany Bryant (plus sized fashion) has turned their store around in the past few years and now i love shopping in there, as they keep up with fashion as closely as they can. They came out with several new items this past month i just went crazy over.

Boot cut jeans (NOT FLARES) will help elongate and thin the leg. Even straight legged pants will help, and a darker denim if in jeans. It depends clothing wise on age i think but this is for 20-40 years old. Button up shirts that are perfectly fit that do not buckles at the chest will emphasize a large chest without clinging to any tummy a person might have. Also jackets with bullets are very in style. They should be waste length and have 3 buttons (for women with larger chests). Shoe wise, a pointed toe shoe with a long pant will help give the leg a much longer feel. Tank tops probably aren't the best bet for a plus sized woman as many are self conscious about their chests and arms and tanks provide very little coverage up top. And for skirts, anything that hits at the knee (NOT AT THE CALF) will also give a more proportional look.

But, knowing that it is hard to find clothes that wit well and are fashionable, if a plus sized woman wants both (good fit and style) then their best option is to shop at a store like Lane Bryant or any store that is customized for plus sized woman and then have something tailored to fit them perfectly. Nothing is better looking than a perfect fit, and this relates to plus sized woman as well as non plus sized women.

Can someone please help me with an outfit?

Q. Hi! i am going to a college for a field trip and i want to look pretty on that field trip idk why but can someone help me?

A. You can look pretty but field tripos and college are usually more casual so reserve anything fancy like heels or dressy dresses for dates, evening outs and parties.

What kind of outfits really depends on your style though but here are some ideas:

A common outfit - casual by stylish:
# Skinny/Straight jeans tucked into tall boots (or ankle booties) worn a loose tunic top or button-up & cardigan/blazer/bomber jacket with minimal accessories like stud earrings & a bracelet

Feminine but casual Outfit
# Dress down a flowy skirt with opaque tights, add dolly flats (or something similare) and a nice t-shirt or knit top. Throw on a cardigan/bomber jacket or cardigan.

If you prefer going more casual like hoodies.
# Wear the hoodie a casual but pretty top (e.g. a jersey wrap top or white cotton collar blouse) and nice jeans or slacks with ballerina flats
http://img2.etsystatic.com/000/0/5271781/il_fullxfull.260125282.jpg
# Wear your favorite sneakers with cuffed shorts shorts, add tights if its still chilly outside and a nice top with cardigan/blazer or bomber jacket.
http://images3.chictopia.com/photos/ellabella/5403104698/brown-sweater-blue-shorts-gray-pour-la-victoire-shoes-black-dkny-tights.jpg
# Look girly in a basic t-shirt with a trendy skirt, (tights), blazer/cardigan & flats or boots (ankle booties with short skirt, tall boots with any skirt).
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u9jH4TzRdRU/Tx4QtkjK7aI/AAAAAAAAD9c/hLwY0-PeFS0/s1600/DSC_0050.JPG
# or A nice long top/tunic (upper thigh) with leggings/jeggings & flats or boots + a jacket
http://lipshipsandfashiontips.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/leggings-2.jpg

For a more proffessional look which I personally wear are wearing the clothes women wear to office (either casual or formal ones) seperatly and dress them down.
# Darkwash Jeans with a Blouse/Knit top or Button up, Blazer & Flats
http://images3.chictopia.com/photos/mowmigaba/4830490344/black-h-m-shoes-red-sheinside-jacket-black-etorba-bag.jpg
# Knee lenght pencil skirt with tights & flat tall boots and a button up with a cardigan or leather jacket
# Sheath or Any not-to-fancy Dress with tights, Cardigan & Flats.
http://www.glamcheck.com/archive/images/stories/stories/fashion-tips/CLOTHING-GUIDE/Dresses-for-Women/Dresses-for-Women-Sheath-Dress/Dresses-for-Women-Sheath-Dress-Silhouette.jpg

Phew, I could rabble on outfit ideas forever but I hope these outfits will spark some ideas.
Most of outfits are low-key but nor too casual but not dressy at the same time. Some of the outfits has a tailored proffessional vibe but they are not too much for college. The only bad things to some people is that you can come off mature which can be either a bad or good thing depending on your perspective. If you dont have any problem with a lady-like classy look then none of the outfits would be bad!
I wear to a school similare to college and these are things I wear.

Anyway, hope it helped!

How do trendy and young French women typically dress?

Q. Just curious and wondering if it's any better than the majority of the people dress in the U.S.

A. I read a book that said the French love to dress their best, not necessarily expensive. It said that they aren't the tee shirt and gym shoes type like we typically are. They maintain a clean look even when "hanging out" somewhere casual, think the preppy end of H & M line or Burberry. And the main thing is they are confident in whatever they wear, making sure to wear what makes them feel extra good about themselves, and that's what shows.
As far as naming specific brands I can't say, but it seems they like good quality clothes that last.

Tip for trendy shoes... ?
Q. I wears converses all time and I wants a different style of shoe.. I'm sixteen and is there any good stylish walking shoes for me? I'm from Canada. Don't give out some American stores that aren't in Canada.
Thanks!

A. Brand NameUGG Boots
OriginalAustralia
MaterialsSheepskin
UGG advantage: versatility, super warm, comfortable, cute
UGG disadvantage: heavy, wearing them will make you seems stubborn
For what people: women, men, old, young all people
What to wear with: jeans, legging, trench and so on.

can anyone recommend a good shoe for surgical nurses to wear?

Q. I will be on my feet all day for hours at a time.

A. I am a surgical nurse, and the best shoe I have ever put on my foot is called a Mizuno Nirvana 2. They are pricey, but a great buy if your looking for a solid shoe with a nice breeze passing thru it and support. I work w/ 2 other nurses who also wear the same shoe. They are just fantastic. You can purchase them off the internet or you can buy them in sports shoe stores. They are light and the mesh fabric in the shoe breathes your foot. They have an arch support which is great inside and the sole of the shoe is supportive. I even bought a pair for my brother in law who just had open heart surgery for his fitness stuff following surgery and he loves them.
One of our surgeons also wears Mizuno's when he is out rounding on the floor. His are not the Nirvana, but a cheaper brand of Mizuno shoe.
The crocks are the cheapo plastic shoes w/ no support and they end up not being all that comfortable. They are just trendy and have caught on sort of like those ignorant Jellies in the 1980's. Clogs offer no support what so ever. They are just trendy. Surgeons wear them because they are easy to put on and off and they stand in 1 spot for long periods of time. They do not walk around.
The podiatrist at our hospital also said Mizuno is an excellent shoe for people on their feet all the time.
Good luck and happy trails!!!

Do you think Crocs shoes are ugly?
Q. I can't believe these Crocs shoes have had the success that they've had. In my opinion, they're ugly and outdated - like something that would've been trendy back in the early 90's.

http://image.rakuten.co.jp/sp5/cabinet/crocs/crocs-color3.jpg

A. I don't think they're ugly, they just look unconventional. I love my Crocs. They are the most comfortable shoes in the world. I've worn them almost all the time for a couple of years now and now my real shoes feel just really uncomfortable.

They make different models without all the holes in them, that look a little more like regular shoes. I'm not into fashion so I don't care what they look like. (I don't get the brighter colors though. Brown or black is better, or dark blue).

From what I read, Crocs is in trouble now because everyone who likes them already has a pair. So the're expanding their line, making fleece-lined Crocs for Winter, and shoes for people who are on their feet all day like nurses and mailmen.

Women's Running shoes!?
Q. I need to purchase new running shoes. I currently run 5-7 miles per day mainly on the treadmill. I have narrow feet and VERY high arches. My current pair are Asics to which I added poly sorb insoles, I love them now, but they were really hard to break in, they pushed down on my toes for a long time (no they are not too small, I always get my feet measured and the size has been the same for a long time). So ladies or men who REALLY know about women's running shoes, can anyone recommend a shoe for my foot type and need that will not take forever to break in? I would love to go to a specialty running store, but there is not one in my area.
BTW-I don't care about what is cute or trendy.

A. 2 words: New Balance. They're great running and walking shoes.. They are very light weight and merciless on the balls of your feet... They are really comfortable... I ran track and I would slip them on after I ran and they are a good quality shoe.. pricy but good.

Do they still make LA Gear shoes? Are they "cool" nowadays?
Q. Or are they totally cheap and dorky?

A. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of pairs out there. according to the trendy, hipster, fresh kids at school, those shoes are for poor kids. I do see grown-ups around who wear them, i think that's cool.

Cool running shoes help?

Q. I need new running shoes. They need to be stylish but also good. I'm 14 and a boy

A. I would suggest getting Asics. They have a lot of sweet looking shoes. I don't know what kind of arch type or pronation you have, so i can't list a certain kind of shoe. I'll list a few that look pretty sweet, but are good quality too. One of my first suggestions would be the Asics Gel-Phoenix 4. It is a really cool shoe. (I have actually had this pair myself.) It is comfortable and all of the color choices are pretty sweet. Here is a link to them. http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:171909/sku:2234601/asics-gel-phoenix-4-mens/blue/white/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH . The Phoenix are more of a stablity shoe. The next pair is a really bright, colorful pair. They really stand out. I don't know if you would like that or not. They are a lighter pair of shoes, and feel a little faster. They do not have as much support though. They are the Asics Gel-Noosa Tri 7. Here is a link. http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:171912/sku:2140784/asics-gel-noosa-tri-7-mens/light-green/blue/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH . My third choice for you would be the Nike Free Run 4.0. It is a very popular shoe right now, very trendy. A lot of people find them extremely comfy. They are another light-weight pair. Here is a link to them. http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:176437/sku:11472600/nike-free-run-4.0-mens/grey/red/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH

How to mod podge toms shoes with glitter?

Q. What r the steps ? I have the satin mod podge.

A. This tutorial could easily be adapted to Toms. See source for lots of photos.

TWINKLE TOES

It's time for me to happily admit something....I was the girl in Jr. high & high school who wore glitter on my eyelids and would also dab some on my face for game day....oh yea, that was me, and those were the days! I have such a thing for glitter! So you can imagine how excited I have been as glitter shoes have been making their way into the fashion world. I have been looking for the perfect pair that I must take home to join my other shoes, but I have been a little disappointed with the prices.

With $80 being the cheapest, I still wasn't comfortable spending that much "on a trendy shoe" which might not even get worn that often. I stylistically love all of the $200-$300 pairs....of course...so I decided to make my own. I must say I went into it with low expectations because I wasn't sure if I could get the look I wanted (meaning not too homemade looking) as well as still functional. My biggest challenge was that I had to find a way to keep the glitter on while walking. The last thing I wanted was to walk down the street leaving a little fairy dust trail behind me, even though it would have been pretty ;.) However, even though this was a four day process (including curing time) I must say I have never been SO PLEASED with a homemade shoe project ;.) okay, okay, this way my first one...but it really did turn out well. Here are the shoes finished...

The best part was that I was able to get the style shoe & color I wanted. Here is how I did it...

Before getting started: Invest in some nice glitter & glue. (remember to use coupons because the glues can be pricey and I learned not to skimp on them). I used Recollections brand glitter in Champagne (but you can use any color) as well as Mod Podge sparkle glue and a matte finish sealer.

Also find a pair of old or new shoes you would like to use. I purchased some new black leather shoes from Target.

Step 1: I used clear packaging tape to seal off the soul from the rest of the boot & then I gave it a light coat of gold spray paint because I did not want the black to peek through the gold tinted glitter. Here is what it looked like after.

Step 2: A little bit of paint seeped through the tape and onto the top edge of the shoe. So I used a gold metallic paint pen to draw around the top edge to make it look even....like this

Step 3: Now here comes the fun part. I used a sponge brush to apply a coat of Mod Podge glue to the tip of the shoe to start out with, and then lightly covered it with the glitter. Tip: I found it helpful to use the lid to a shoe box to glitter over, in order to catch the extra glitter.

After I finished the front tip I just kept working my way up the shoe. However, I left the little dot & stitching un-glittered because I liked the style of that detail.

I also chose not to cover the back because that was my preference

Step 4: I then left the shoes to dry over night. The next day I shook off the excess. You can be creative ;.) I stomped around in them in the back yard as well as used a blow up mattress compressor to blow the excess off ;.) Surprisingly the glue was super strong and held most of the glitter.

Step 5: The last step is to spray the finishing sealer on them (read directions on the can) and let them cure for a few days. Then add which ever laces you would like. You can use the original laces or have fun with them with ribbon.....I tried this fun pink ribbon lace first but then chose to go with the more natural tan colored ribbon when all was said and done.

And BAM! You have custom glitter shoes, which for someone like me is too fun for words. I am now just a little worried I might find myself looking at them when I walk....yikes, that's an accident waiting to happen! The best part is the project cost me $45 and I got the look I wanted. Now, I am trying to figure out what color of glitter shoes I want to make next ;.) Maybe some orange ballet flats for Halloween....ahhh endless possibilities.

I just got a job, what type of clothes are acceptable?

Q. I just got a job with the census bureau and for training, they ask that you wear business casual attire. I'm 19 and never really had to dress any certain way at any other jobs so if someone could tell me what is considered business casual attire then that would be great!

Thanks for any help.

A. Business casual is crisp, neat, and should look appropriate even for a chance meeting with a CEO. It should not look like cocktail or party or picnic attire. Avoid tight or baggy clothing; business casual is classic rather than trendy.
Basics:
Khaki or dark pants, neatly pressed, and a pressed long-sleeved, buttoned solid shirt are safe for both men and women. Women can wear sweaters; cleavage is not business-appropriate (despite what you see in the media). Polo/golf shirts, unwrinkled, are an appropriate choice if you know the environment will be quite casual, outdoors or in a very hot location. This may not seem like terribly exciting attire, but you are not trying to stand out for your cutting edge look, but for your good judgment in a business environment.
Shoes / belt:
Wear a leather belt and leather shoes. Athletic shoes are inappropriate.
Cost / quality:
You are not expected to be able to afford the same clothing as a corporate CEO. However, do invest in quality that will look appropriate during your first two or three years on the job for a business casual environment or occasions.
Details:
Everything should be clean, well pressed, and not show wear. Even the nicest khakis after 100 washings may not be your best choice for a reception. Carefully inspect new clothes for tags, and all clothes for dangling threads, etc. (as with interview attire).
Use common sense.
If there are six inches of snow on the ground and/or you are rushing to get to an information session between classes and you left home 12 hours earlier, no one will expect you to show up looking ready for a photo shoot they'll just be happy you made it. Just avoid wearing your worst gym clothes and jeans. If you show up at an event and realize you're not as well dressed as you should be, make a quick, pleasant apology and make a good impression with your interpersonal skills and intelligent questions.

How do i be preppy ( 20 characters)?
Q. thanks you guys i'm kinda trying to come out of the shy faze since my mother died and she always wanted me to be popular

A. Personally, I think the best style type is preppy because it is classic and never goes out of style. Here are some basic steps:

1. The attitude: Always present yourself in a nice and welcoming manner. Be polite and courteous with girls, boys, and teachers. Never be snobby and don't try too hard. Always talk! What I am saying is be social but never during class. Preppy people are never misbehaving people.
2. The clothes: Wear clean cut, classic clothes, but they do not have to be trendy. Places like Abercrombie and Hollister are not preppy, unless you buy the really simple items. Try J.Crew, Lacoste, etc. Wear skirts, khaki, polos, bermuda shorts and bright colors. The staples of the preppy style are oxford shirts, polo shirts, and sweaters/cardigans. anything simple and of a solid color will work! The Jackie Cardigan is also a good, classic choice. Also, try a cute blazer over a simple dress. Also, for jeans, don't have any rips in them. Some good colors for clothes include pastels in pink, blue, green, and yellow or neutrals such as off white and brown.
3. Accessories: Always wear accessories, but not too many. Try pearl jewelry such as pearl studs. Also wear ribbon belts in different colors.
4. Shoes: Clean white tennis shoes are cute, or leather or suede ballet flats. No sneakers or Uggs. If you want boots try leather or suede slouch boots or straight leg boots... classic!
5. Hair: Make sure your hair is always well cleaned and conditioned. Don't do the same thing every day, mix it up! Try ribbons in a ponytail, headbands, and pigtails.
6. Always keep clean: Brush your hair, take care of your teeth and nails, and smell nice. Also, for your nails, paint them clear, white, or light pink. Dark or bright nails are so tacky!
7. Do well in school: If you have the answer, raise your hand. But do not be a show off or brag about your grades.
8. Get involved in a preppy sport: Try lacrosse, cross country, track and fiel, horseback riding, volleyball, swimming, rowing or golf. ( I personally enjoy running!)
9. Most importantly.... HAVE CONFIDENCE!!! Focus on your inner beauty and never let anybody tell you who you should be. Also don't try and fit in, that will only make things worse. Ease into your preppy transition slowly, one piece of clothing at a time, or over a long vacation.

do flat shoes/boots make most people look short & stumpy & walk awkwardly like a duck?

Q. how do you think it looks on other people? use some adjectives to describe it. do you wear flat shoes/boots often? does it make you look slimmer/taller or what? what outfits does it look good with? be specific.thanks.

A. If you're going to go flat, do it with style! Actually, flat shoes and boots can have a very stylish, trendy look to them, but you have to know the right way to dress with them. Anyone who walks like a duck in them walks like a duck, anyway, so don't worry about that.

Flats look good with jeans and big shirts with tank tops underneath. They also look great with skirts (from mini to maxi) and vintage hippie-style blouses or even t-shirts. It depends where you are going and what you want to do. I like to mix luxe fabrics like velvets and silks with crisp white cotton and wear a pair of all-leather black flat boots that tie.

Flats also look good with the new baby-doll look, so if you like the tops and dresses in that style, you're looking at the right footwear.

The trick to all flat shoes and boots is to find a look that you like and feel comfortable in. The rest should come naturally. And if your boots are fitted properly, you should feel like you're barefoot.

Good luck -- and no worries about the ducks!

4EE shoes for women?

Q. My poor mum who's only 56 is housebound but she's always been quite stylish, the last few years her feet have been swollen so she's had to wear "old lady shoe's" as she calls them, i want to get her a lovely pair of 1 & a half inch heeled shoes. i have no idea where to find a trendy pair of 4EE shoes in london. After my search, to me, if you have wide feet you're classed as needing soft slippers!! Help!!

A. i'm not sure if they do them that small but evans do wide fitting shoes, i know because i take a 9EE/10 and they are about the only place i can buy them from. Brantano's is also good for strange sized shoes, i know they go down into small sized shoes but im not sure weather they do wide fittings there.

Those are the only places i can think of off the top of my head, hope they help!

I have fat feet does anyone know where I can buy heels?
Q. I have fat feet and I really love wearing heels and wedged shoes the only problem is I have a hard time finding shoes that fit and it makes me really really embarrassed when I can't buy the shoes I want so I was wondering if anyone knew of any trendy cool sites or shops in Atlanta that have shoes for women with fat feet.

A. The Avenue (which is a plus-size clothing store) has some shoes in wide widths (www.avenue.com; they're called "Cloudwalkers" shoes...but I'd go to a store & try them on, because they seem to run a little big); Payless; or go to a website like www. zappos.com or www.endless.com and search for the shoes that come in wider widths.

I also have wider feet...some brands are better than others. Nine West & Bandolino seem to run a little wider than some other brands of dressy shoes; for casual shoes, Born is actually a M/W width and they have some adorable wedgy sandals.
