Am I the only one who hates the current trendy clothes for young women?

Q. I cannot stand skinny jeans, 80's clothes of any kind, flat ballet shoes, polka dots and so many other clothing items that are now in style and have been for the past year or so.

I still love my flare legged jeans and I like simple feminine shirts- I don't like things that try to look vintage or things that are even authentically vintage. I can't wait for these clothes to go out of style- is there any hope that they will? Does anyone agree?

A. I like some of it, and I hate some of it.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiI2pZfwKuaKmzVoKw_xJxLsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070922173739AAglJTd

I love the flats that are out. Before they were "in" again, I wanted them. They're very practical and comfortable, yet still stylish. I can wear them to work or casually. They've really given me a break from heels.
I also like polka dots, but I always have, so nothing has changed there.

I don't like skinny jeans. I wear bootcut or straight trouser jeans.

If you look at the link above, you'll see some of my gripes.

What kind of shoes to wear to cold, outdoor wedding?
Q. I will be traveling to Washington state for a fall beach wedding, which will probably be pretty windy and cold so sandals are out. It's not a super fancy affair, somewhere between casual and dressy (like nice sweater, skirt or dressy jeans). But anyway, I'm not really sure what kind of shoes to wear because of the cold, the sand and trying to look nice. Any ideas?

A. Flat boots..

Are there any other nice places to shop for CUTE plus size clothes?
Q. Hi there, I am a Lane Bryant and Torrid fan. I can also find cute clothes at Nordstrom's and Macy's. However, I am not interested in looking like anyone's Granny. Any ideas on other places or websites that sell cute plus size clothes that are well made?

Thanks!

A. I feel your pain! I usually find great clothes at those stores, but some of them aren't my style. I can usually find great basic pieces... like dress pants, button up shirts, and jeans at Macy*s and Lane Bryant but I like the hip stuff too!

In my area, these are the places I go to...

Goody's. Believe it or not, they have a small section in the Plus Size women's department called Junior Plus. I bought some of my favorite summer outfits from there this year. They usually have the trendy stuff, too! I like their summer tops and shorts!

Ross. If you have one of these near you, I suggest that you go! Their Woman's World section usually has a bunch of clothes for the older lady, but they also have a lot of cute style clothes. I got some really cute hoodies and tops there this fall. When I go there, I usually find 90430344909085 things or NOTHING. It can really be hit or miss. If you take the time to look through each hanger, you will find some cute stuff. They go up to a size 4X too. Oh, and check out their dresses! They have a ton of dresses in Plus Size!

Cato. There is a Cato right down the road from me. They have Petite and Plus. What is cool is that anything that they have in Petite... they have the same exact thing in Plus. I hate going by a window and being like... "That outfit is so cute!" only to find out that it only goes up to a size 12. :( Again, you really have to look through the racks, but I have bought some nice stuff there. Also, they have a shoe section with plenty of wides and size 9, 10, 11.

Fashion Bug. While their stuff is usually lower quality, they do gear a lot of their clothes to the younger crowd. They usually have awesome dresses and stuff. I have a hard time finding dresses for weddings and events like that, but Fashion Bug has come through for me a lot. And they have cute underwear, especially if you like thongs and boyshorts.

Believe it or not, I do like to shop at Wal*Mart and Target sometimes. I find great basics like velvet pant suits, long sleeve t-shirts, and capris/shorts.

OldNavy. They used to have a better selection in the store, but they have gone exlusively online for their Plus Sizes. If you know what size you are, then you can shop there. I try not to buy online because I like to try something on, but I am really familiar with their sizes. OldNavy is probably one of my favorite places for summer clothing.

Those are my usual spots! I wish you luck because I know how hard it is to find something that looks cute and is flattering to our body type! Good luck!

What are some preppy guy clothing brands?

Q. I am a teen guy in middle school, about to go to high school VERY soon.
I want to upgrade my look, but I am tired of Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, Ralph Lauren Polo, and other things. I am aware of places like Vineyard Vines, and I like their style a lot. Any other places? Money is no problem.

A. Congrats on opting out of the Abercrombie trend. Places like Vineyard Vines are so much more preppy and look better. Also try Brooks Brothers and Southern Proper.g I also really like some of Ralph Lauren's stuff...check out his other lines for some great preppy items, just avoid the tacky stuff everyone buys like the "big pony" polos. Hate those. J.Crew has some nice things. They're on the trendier side so some of their stuff is definitely not preppy, but they still have great preppy basics like chino pants and shorts, shirts, sweaters, belts, shoes, etc. GANT has done some great things lately. Lacoste is ok, definitely preppy, but it's not my favorite. They have a great piece now and then, however.

For accessories/shoes, there's also Sperry topsiders of course, Rainbow brand flip flops, belts from Smathers and Branson or Tucker Blair, ties from Southern Proper, Brooks Brothers, Peter Blair and some great newcomers like Lumina and High Cotton Ties.

What are some good teenage guy shoes and tee's for the summer and fall?
Q. My shoes are are about to give away, and I was wondering what the "in" guy shoes this summer/fall? I currently have red nike free runs, and I'm looking at getting nike skate shoes. Also I hate wearing graphic/brand name tees and I was wondering what's another alternative to these?I know this probably doesn't matter, but I live in the suburbs of Chicago and go to a sorta preppy school. So most guys wear skinny jeans and Jordan's.

A. You wanna look good and in fashion? Dress the way i do. I live in portland a trendy vintagey place. Ok heres how you can dress, ditch graphic tees and as well as those nikes. Places i shop are american apparel( here you will shop you basic tees) if its to much target has basically the same typed of shirts a little more in budget. Why basic tee? If you have to wear tees dont have graphics on them. These come off childish and young. Wearing hollister and ambercrombie makes you look like a deuce and a metro so ditch those. If you want more of a preppy look a great outfit is again a basic tee of any color you like and get some chino shorts that match well ( mostly for summer use warm colors or pastels.) one of my outfits like this is a white tee with a navy blazer with a salmon colored chino short. Button ups! Yes both plaids and normal are great! They are both very in fashion. You can even wear them with chinos just role up the sleeves to where they are tight and above the elbow.also skinny jeans are great! But make sure you have the body type. If you have a muscular skinny (ciggarette) jeans are as flattering. I can never wear skinnys in unporportions my upper half. So if you are muscular like me wear slim straights or just slimfit. They are more flattering. Ok shoes. Dress shoes that can look casual and arent very "dressy"are perfect get them in a dark brown a perfect color for any outfit.you could wear dockers or sperrys. They are popular.also if you ever wonder about accesories. Ties watches and glasses are all good additions.jackets avoid pullovers and get blazers( thrifting they are easy) and button up jackets and military style jackets. Also another way to make yourself stick out and look better are skin care and hair. Hygeine even though its not apart of the question is also a plus to every outfit. Gelled haircuts are making a modern return like the new version of the pomp. I mean look at jt tunnel vision mv his suave hairstyle is a portrayl of 40s and 50s hairstyle. Most guys dont understand dressing well is apart of looking well. Always be shaved and well groomed. Also make your skin clear with neutrogina face washes and moistrizers. Trim those nails and make sure your clothes are always clean and washed. A number of good places to shop for guys, forever 21 cottonon target american apparel urban outfitter h and m and express. Also cologne please dont over use it! Spray your wrist rub together and place on neck then spray chest once sudilty is best. Sorry for ranting i just thought i should tell all i know:) thanks.

Where can I find stylish shoes that will support my Plantar Fascitis feet?

Q. I wear my custom orthodics in my sneakers when possible, but I can't wear sneakers to work or less causal events. Any suggestions on where to find trendy/stylish shoes, sandals, or flats that are reasonably priced?
I need an alternative to sneakers with my custom orthodics. I can't wear sneakers to work.

A. A reputable tennis shoe with good support (leather) is always good. If you do use an orthotic (whether custom- made or store-bought), be sure to take the inlay that comes with the shoe out first.
Also, be sure to do heel stretching exercises.

what could you wear to a nighclub thats trendy but casual with flat shoes?

What's a good name to have for a trendy, young women's fashion boutique?

Q. Something quite feminine. I Have thought of ones like Diva, Glitter, Sparkle, Butterfly but I think they sound too predictable. I like the sound of 'Two Lips' but there is already a shoe brand by that name. Another name was 'Luscious' but it sounds slightly provokative and I've checked that it is the name of a boutique that sell lingerie and nightwear for women. Any ideas?

A. Serendipity... Unless its already taken

Thoughts about the woman pulled off the South West Airlines Flight?
Q. I'm curious to hear opinions of the young lady who was pulled off the SouthWest Airlines flight because her outfit was too revealing. The pictures of her, wearing her skirt and top were I thought not out of the norm, she was tall, blonde and a bit busty but nothing at all revearling about her top and her skirt was low to mid thigh. They actually showed some of the older SW Airline flight attendents from the 70's wearing hot pants on CNN today. Curious to hear opinions, because this woman was dressed nicely and I have seen some pretty poorly dressed people not get a second look. Think that jealously had anything to do with it?
I only saw the picture of her that was shown on the media. She looks fine in it and didn't have a tank top on, she had a top and sweater. My understanding was that it was a female passenger who complained after the boarded the plane and that she was given a blanket to cover herself after getting back on.

A. I offer 2 opinions on the topic of personal appearance in public places -

1. Airlines (Buses, Cruise ships, Railroads, etc) have the right to demand certain standards of conduct (or appearance)of passengers, and sometimes enforce that right when passengers or the airline would be harmed. In this case, however, I have heard that another passenger complained to the airline, and caused this situation to arise.
I have no idea what gives one passenger the right to judge the lady's clothing, this seems to be hypocritical and surely could have been resolved by moving the complaining passenger to a seat out of view of the young lady, and offering a blindfold to the complaining passenger.
Since the airline crew now had to intervene quickly, in order to let the flight take off on time, and keep the peace, perhaps it was easiest at the moment to do what SW did, right or wrong. On the other hand (with my perfect hindsight), if I were the air crew, I would have told BOTH passengers to get off and let them battle it out in court for being involved in a dispute of a nature unable to be resolved in a timely manner.

Opinion #2: On personal pride of appearance AND tolerance (or lack of tolerance), what ever happened to these things?
It used to be that far fewer people (slobs, etc) went out in public place dressed badly. I am not talking about dressing in a unique, trendy way, but plain out wearing ragged, dirty smelly clothing, etc. I once sat (in first class cabin, Dallas to London) way too close to a young couple and baby, dressed in worn-out jeans, tattered plain white-T shirts, cheap shower shoes, etc and the toddler wearing only a diaper and some kind of sleeping clothes, barely enough to keep it from catching cold. Granted that your clothing choices can be limited by your income and budget, but if you have the means to fly in first-class cabin to London, surely you could afford to dress better than that? On tolerance, YES, I thought to myself that if I had the power, I would tell that couple to dress more appropriately for the occasion, but of course I realized that I do NOT have that power, so I just kept my mouth shut, put on my headset, listened to the music, and enjoyed the flight.

Ok, open for debate, I would like to read your comments, anyone?

How do big girls dress sexy?

Q. I'm going with some friends to a night club in a few days, im a pretty big girl, how do i dress sexy?

A. Begin with the wardrobe. If you normally walk around in a pair of tired old sweats and a baggy tee...let's have some fun and update!

Select hot outfits. Just because finding clothes is harder doesn't mean you can't still find hot outfits! Try any store you like, even the thrift shops! Make sure your clothes are not tight!

Look curvy and sexy. For a sophisticated look go for darker jeans. the low-rise kind will hug your curves which is just want you want and prevent the bulge you get around the front of the crotch and fly of your jeans if you have a very large stomach.

Provide coverage, if desired. If you don't like to show your arms, try a black sheer hang jacket. Sexy clothing doesn't have to show too much.

Wear one color. You don't want to be cut in half. Stick to deeper shades. If you have to wear two colors, wear the darker on the bottom and the lighter color on on top.

Belts can give you a nice waistline. It's best to go with thicker black ones or have it match the shirt or jacket your wearing.

Only wear skirts that at least go to your knees. Also wear leggings or tights underneath skirts to reduce the appearance of fat.

Stay away from broomstick skirts! Even if you are digging the bohemian look, these are not attractive on anyone!

Go for sexy well-fitted jeans. Wide legs are good if you have a big, voluptuous booty. Skinny jeans are still in style and look great on a lot of bigger girls.

Don't show your chest. Wear collared shirts and high-rising shirts. Chances are that you have a large chest...you don't need to show the skin.

Select long earrings. They are always in style and chic.

Be confident, which is the sexiest thing of all. Guys will look your way if they know you are a woman of confidence.

Play up with hot necklaces and shoes. Go for reasonably high heels and trendy flats.

Have flawless skin. Use an exfoliating scrub. When you get out of the shower, apply non-oily moisturizer (Try one with a shimmering effect!) to your body and face moisturizer to your face. Wash your face at least once a day with gentle soap such as Dove. Shower at least once a day, as well as any time you get sweaty.

Apply beautiful light makeup. Use foundation a few shades lighter than your skin. Then apply white shadow from your lash line to your brows, and a hint of light green shadow on your lids. Use light mascara and some chapstick.

Good luck!

Makeup that will make me look a bit older?
Q. I went to a party and was promptly kicked out on the accusation that I presented a fake ID , and I'm 20 but look 15. Is there any makeup or something that will make me look a bit older?

A. Steps

1. Take care of yourself by washing regularly, using deodorant, and, for women, try to do your makeup as often as possible.
2. Fix your eyebrows. Some surveys say that when your eyebrows are done and put together, you can look more mature and therefore, look older.
3. Wear sophisticated looking clothes. This doesn't mean that you have to wear a suit everyday, but stay tuned to trends that suit your age or the age you want to look. Stay away from pastels such as bubblegum pink, light blue, sea green etc. Men should avoid baseball caps and baggy jeans.
4. Consult with a hair stylist. Give a brief summary of your situation or just simply ask for a "mature cut". Look towards more trendy hairstyles. Someone who follows trends generally is or appears to be older. That said, you shouldn't be reading seventeen magazines. Start reading InStyle, Allure, People, Cosmopolitan or Vogue.
5. Work on the way you appear to people, such as personality traits and characteristics.
6. Listen to others. People who are good listeners appear more mature.
7. Be comfortable when talking to people who are older than you.
8. Act calm, and handle things in a reserved manner.
9. Show cleavage appropriately, wear heels, and wear a watch.
10. Dress like the age group you want to fit into. Buy clothes that fit you, not ones that are popular. Avoid Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle because they are symbols of teen style unless you are younger you may. Do not wear plastic flip flops. Chic leather sandals are a good investment because they will usually compliment your feet, make you look richer, make you look older, and complete an outfit.
11. Try to be more put together on a daily basis. Focus on cute shoes and accessories.
12. Wearing a Vera Bradley Bag, colorful Coach bag, or any other colorful purse will make you look instantly younger. If you want to look older, look for more neutral colored handbags. Look for leather, for some reason the older you become, the more leather you own.
13. Women: Wear Makeup. If you are a young woman, only use a little and learn to do it properly. If you overdo your makeup, you'll look more like you've raided your older aunt's makeup drawer than a mature woman! Learn to properly apply makeup to suit your face and fashion needs.
14. Care For Your Skin. If you have acne, do something about it. Go on medication, have a skin clearing regimen.
15. Keep up with current events. It is true that not all adults keep up with current events and it is almost impossible to keep up with all current events. But watch the news once in awhile. It can impress on others that you are aware of world affairs and are capable of staying current.
16. Make the first changes understated. If you transition gracefully, no one should notice much of a change
17. Act mature. If you are all over the place, and hyper and peppy all of the time, you will seem childish no matter what you're wearing.
18. Be careful with your speech. Use proper English. If you're using a lot of slang, swears, and stammering words like, "ummm", "you know", you will not sound like a mature man or woman. Avoid saying "like" every two words. Enhance your vocabulary; if you speak eloquently you will be perceived as more mature.
19. Choose a mature role model to emulate. Pick an actor, musician, or other public figure who is your age or a few years older that projects a sophisticated image. The way he or she dresses, speaks, walks, and acts can help you understand how a mature persona acts.

Tips

*
1. If the people in a given store all look much older than you, you may be dressing too young. Find out where your peers shop.
2. If you're petite, buy petite clothing rather than shopping at the "Misses'" section.
3. If you're a woman, don't shop in the "Junior's" section if you are over 18 or so. That section is for teenagers, not young women.

What should a 12 year old boy wear to a wedding?

Q. My little brother wants to wear black dress slacks, a white/cream "silk" collared polo, and white Jordan basketball shoes to a "formal" wedding. I think he should change shoes, but he insists just because they are new. The wedding is THIS Saturday, August the 18th...please help me convince him that he is too casual for the wedding!

Here's the wedding website along with the cathedral and reception sites...:

http://benandceleste.com/index.html

http://www.blessedsaccathedral.org/

http://www.librarygalleria.com/

Thanks soo much!

A. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At a formal wedding, he should wear a dark suit, tie and dress shoes.

Wedding Style for him

* Informal Daytime: Dress shirt and pants, preferably a sports jacket.
* Informal Evening: Suit
* Semi-Formal Daytime: Suit
* Semi-Formal Evening: Dark suit
* Formal Daytime: Dark suit and tie
* Formal Evening: Tuxedo (if invitation states "black tie") or dark suits if women wear short dresses.
* Ultra-formal Evening or White Tie: White tie, cummerbund, vest and shirt.

Do's and Don'ts for Him

* Don't try to get cute with a tuxedo. A black tux with white shirt and black bow tie is the best way to go. If "Creative Black Tie" or "Texas Formal" or some sort of other vague formal description is used, then going with a tux and black shirt, no tie, might be acceptable. Also, trendier cities like Los Angeles and New York might be more accepting of breaking with tradition.
* Do wear a dark suit, with a tie if the wedding is after 6 PM, and doesn't say "Black Tie."
* Don't wear a tuxedo during the day time, regardless of the formality of the event.
* Do use good judgment if the invitation doesn't specify the formality of the event. A dark suit and conservative tie will take you just about anywhere.

How to dress smart casual for a job?
Q. I'm a boy. The other day a women rang me up about a job and asked me all the usual interview questions, why do you want the job etc.. and asked me to go in for an assessment day. I have received a letter and the dress code is smart casual, what does this mean wearing? also on the letter it says for an interview or something but to told an assessment.anyway any help would be great thanks.

A. "smart Casual" is dressed comfortably for business. The best way to hit all the wickets is to brass in a suit, then remove just the jacket. You will be left wearing "smart" (neat) casual attire. A long sleeve dress shirt with a tie, dress slacks with a belt, leather shoes and appropriate socks. Avoid: Jeans
Trainers
Leather - jackets, skirts or trousers
Combats
Sandals
Golfing gear
You are being assessed for your maturity, business sense, and professional appearance. Leave off the jewelry, cover all tats, ensure your nails are clean, your shoes are polished, and your hair is neatly styled. If you expect to be viewed and treated as a professional, it is important that you "Look" and act as a professional. You never have a second chance to make a "First Impression", so do it right. Forget what your friends think will look cool, forget trendy, earrings, tongue studs, denim, and clothing that makes a statement. You are being assessed as a future representative of the company. Don't be confused by the word "casual". It is casual for the businessmen of society..to you it means "Business attire". Put your best foot forward, show them that you are serious, mature, and can be relied upon to be mature and appropriate. Good Luck

does anyone know of online Wholesaler in Canada?

Q. I've found some reliable online US wholesalers however, I would like to buy from Canada.

Does anyone know of any online Canadian wholesalers?

Womans Apparel, trendy fashion.
Womans shoes, bags and jewelry.

I will expand to mens and childrens clothing later, and gifts, electronics and makeup.

Thanks!

A. Visit industry specific trade shows in Canada, you will find the suppliers you need there.

How can I dress better without looking like a tool?
Q. I've never taken a deep plunge into fashion, so going all out with the latest would not be in my character. I'll wear skinny jeans, but scarves seem awkward if not for cold weather. I don't really understand how to use accessories, or colors, or matching. I'm also short, so any advice on short guys dressing trendy would be greatly appreciated.

A. shirts = plain white tees, graphic tees (no logos if possible), & the occasional abercrombie shirt (dont overdo it tho, or you'll look like a douchebag!)

jeans = anything! guys can pull off virtually any style, so dont limit yourself. heres some inspiration: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/category_full_fashion_guide.jsp?catId=cat130130 -skinny jeans are tricky to pull off, so try on a lot of styles before you buy

NO fashion scarfs! please leave those to women

shoes = you can go with skater vans: http://shop.vans.com/catalog/Vans/en_US/product/men/skate-shoes/widow-men.html

the universally loved converse: http://www.converse.com/?CSID=212#/s/products/collections/specialcollection7 (high or low tops)

or (depending on the occasion) a flip flop: http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=abercrombie

for hoodies and jackets, there are many looks you can go with.

skater = vans, element, fox (you can buy these brands at Pacsun)

beachy-casual = abercrombie, hollister, aeropostle

preppy = the gap

what are the trendy shoe styles this year?

Q. I'm starting a business selling shoes but I need to know which are the most trendy styles for women this year. I don't want to buy a bunch of shoes that will not sell. I know that really high heels are not so in, but what about wedges or slip-ons? Please let me know your suggestions,

Thanks!

A. Well for teens, like myself you should try these:

* Flats - everyone loves them even adults.

* Converse or Vans. They are very in.

* my personal favorite shoes are harajuki, it's hard to spell. But they are proably the most expensive sneakers out there. The style of them is japanese harajuki obviously and they have a lot of high top and bright colors.

But the MUST haves are pretty much flats and vans. Guys also wear vans.

I have fat feet does anyone know where I can buy heels?
Q. I have fat feet and I really love wearing heels and wedged shoes the only problem is I have a hard time finding shoes that fit and it makes me really really embarrassed when I can't buy the shoes I want so I was wondering if anyone knew of any trendy cool sites or shops in Atlanta that have shoes for women with fat feet.

A. The Avenue (which is a plus-size clothing store) has some shoes in wide widths (www.avenue.com; they're called "Cloudwalkers" shoes...but I'd go to a store & try them on, because they seem to run a little big); Payless; or go to a website like www. zappos.com or www.endless.com and search for the shoes that come in wider widths.

I also have wider feet...some brands are better than others. Nine West & Bandolino seem to run a little wider than some other brands of dressy shoes; for casual shoes, Born is actually a M/W width and they have some adorable wedgy sandals.

Where to find casual trendy clothes for extra tall young men?

Q. My boyfriend is 6 ft. 4in. And weighs about 220lbs and he hates his height. One of the reasons why is because he cannot find any clothes that fit him properly. Right now he wears plain t shirts and baggy jeans held up by a belt. He would like to have variety. He's 21 and doesn't want to dress up in clothes that make him look like a teacher or any older like how most Big & Tall stores do. He is also incredibly sensitive about the style of pants he wears because (this is in all seriousness-not trying to be funny or inappropriate) he has a very LARGE p.e.n.i.s. And it shows if his pants are too tight (that's why he wears them baggy). I just would like to help him find a few stores that would carry clothing that would fit him and look trendy like how any 21 year old male would like to dress. Online store suggestions would also be a good help! (He would also like a choice of places to look for shoes, he wears a size 18)

Please help.

A. Ballroom jeans.....maybe that would give him some extra room. I think he would be better off finding clothing he likes that are slightly bigger and have them altered to fit. Some people have such different bodies that they break the mold most of the rest of us fit in to. Plus getting your clothing fitted and altered can be fun and you feel special.

Going into a different high school then my friends, any tips?
Q. I'm going into a different high school then all of my friends this august. I'll be a freshman. I don't know anyone except this one senior from the camp I work at. I have a ton of money saved up to buy clothes and school stuff. I've got 600, could get 7 if I work harder, so is there anything I need to buy? Or any advice on how to survive my first day with out knowing anyone? Any kind of advice actually would be hugely welcome.

A. being friends with a senior is a grate thing. that way you'll get to know kids outside of your grade, this will improve your popularity, and other kids will think your cool or what ever. As for buying stuff, don't go all out on buying supplies. all u should get is:

-pens
-2-4 binders (all depends on the type of school you go to and what your teacher is okay with.ask if they mind two class`s in one binder)
-a folder for hand outs ( really importunate for first week at school)
-pencil case
-pencils
-eraser
-lead
-school bag
-one of thoughts accordion to put home work. :i have a really good tip for homework, most kids just bring there hole binder home when they have homework, to me that is beyond dump! why bring something home that is so heavy, for one page you need. if its a lose sheet i like to take it out of my binder and put it in my accordion ,if i need my text book then i bring it home. if you have a test, take out the unit your having the test on. when having an exam then you should take the binder home.

that's all you really need. if your taking art bring normal pencils. and you should bye running shoes for gym. if you feel that your locker need more shelves get some, and you should have a gym bag and some magnets for your locker.

buying cloths is all up to you. if your trendy buy trendy cloths, if your funky buy funky cloths, just remember to be your self, if your not the type to stand out then don't try. 600$ is more then enough for everything that you need, en less you go over bored, i promise you after 2 months you wont even use half the things you buy if you do buy more then you need, and go nuts on cloths. you can never go wrong with to much to wear!!!

first day outfit: don't wear something to drag attention to your self. maybe some nice shorts and a pretty top would be good. no high heels!!!! don't put to much makeup to your face. if you wear jewelry only wear earnings and a bracket(nothing flashy)

first day:
making friend- i`m going to be honest. making friends in high school is 10x harder then making friends in middle school. BUT chances are there;s a hand full of people that don't know anyone as well as you. site beside someone that looks out of place and make conversation, ask what there doing at lunch and maybe you'll make a friend. don't be shy.

lunch: don't buy lunch!! first day is always the longest line EVER!! bring something to eat!!!!

bus: if you take the bus there's one more way to make friends! site beside someone that's alone and ask if you can site there.

random tips:

-guys are not everything! don't worry if you don't have a boyfriend first year.

-don't run in the halls, number 1 give away that your new and a nerd,

-don't look miserable, cuz who want to be friend with a downer. try to walk like you do in the mall or on the street.

-don't site at the front of the room or the back, front is loserish, back tells the teacher your a trouble maker site in between.

well that's all i can think of off the top of my head, hope i helped, i`ll be glade to answer more questions, i remember last year i was so scared, good luck!! :)

I am thinking about buying a men/women's clothing store in a small town. What can I do to update it?

Q. I can't spend a lot of money, but I would like to make the store not look so 80's. Any suggestions about how to update dressing rooms, choose paint colors, use trendy decor would be appreciated. Also, what kind of fixtures are popular right now (mannequins, racks, display cases)? If you have any tips on going to market, that would be great too!

A. well i would try store supply.com & my friend redid an old store with tons of stuff from ikea they are affordable & easy to assemble. For the markets i would take alot of linesheets & write notes dont sign anything incase you change your mind you doont want them to have your signature because then its hard to cancel an order. I usually write all my orders after the show to see all my options you can budget that way better too. Definetly wear comfortable shoes & bring some candy or granola bars because it gets tiring talking allll day. what are the trendy shoe styles this year?

What kind of dress shoes or sandals will look with this dress for an outside wedding?

Q. I'm going to my friends wedding this Saturday and do not know what kind of dress shoes or sandals to wear that day.

Here is the dress:

Links of dress shoes or sandals from target or payless in wide will help out a lot and thank you to everyone who helps out with this one.

3. http://www.target.com/p/women-s-xhilaration-susy-strappy-heel-blush/-/A-14431340#prodSlot=medium_1_14 - for a sexier/elegant look

4. http://www.target.com/p/women-s-mossimo-pearlynn-chunky-peep-toe-heels-black-white/-/A-14338288#prodSlot=medium_1_44 - for a trendy, fashionista look

6. http://www.target.com/p/women-s-xhilaration-presta-open-toe-strappy-heels-yellow/-/A-14304083#prodSlot=medium_2_10 - to add in some colour to your outfit

7. http://www.target.com/p/women-s-sam-libby-margot-open-toe-pump-turquoise-brown/-/A-14411193#prodSlot=medium_2_11 - also to add in some colour :)

for more comfortable shoes or if it is an outdoor wedding,

10. http://www.target.com/p/women-s-merona-etha-cork-low-wedge-sandal-white/-/A-14385062#prodSlot=medium_3_39

there are plenty but, the basic guideline would be to go for shoe colours that are in the dress such as white or tan/beige/nude or pale yellow or pale green. in this case, avoid black as it would look a tad bit awkward with this dress.

Where to buy designer clothes in English stores?
Q. I know of Harvey Nichols, but which other shops sell expensive handbags (YSL, Chloe, Marc Jacobs etc), shoes (Jimmy Choo, Laboutin and Manalos), and generally expensive clothes and accessories?

Ideally in locations such as Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds, Lincoln or London.

Thanks for you help! x

A. Hey ;)

In Central London the actual Chloe shop is there in Sloane Street. Also in London you sometimes find their range in Harrod's (Brompton Road, Knightsbridge) and Selfridges (in Oxford Street). You can also buy from there online at http://www.net-a-porter.com/Shop/Designers/Chloe. It doesn't look like they offically sell anywhere else apart from in Harvey Nichols in Leeds (which you obviously already know).

Jimmy Choo also sell their range in their shop in London, also in Selfridges and Harrod's.

Your best bet, if you can be bothered to travel all that way, is to go to London and go in Selfridges or Harrod's or Harvey Nichols..

Why do some women interfere when their partner tends to buy shoes?
Q. Some women (wives/girfriends) gets in the way whenever their partner tries to get new pairs of shoes. For instance, the woman would say that she doesn't like them, they're ugly or she doesn't really like them BUT HEY...THEY ARE NOT THE ONES WHO ARE GONNA WEAR THEM NOR MATCH THEM WITH CERTAIN WARDROBES!!!

Furthermore, why does men let that happen when they are the ones who should choose the style and fit that they are comfortable with???

Lastly, some men allow that to happen. Why? It's pathetic when they lose their SAY in that matter.

A. Because the women will have to be seen with the man who is wearing them and if it's a bad/outdated/too trendy/disliked style, she'll be razzed about her mans gear.
Not how society should be but realistically how it is.
She knows this. And, she cares.

I really want some cool shoes.?

Q. I like green and polka dots, but I'm guessing there are no green polka dot shoes. But i do like green. I want them to be athletic and trendy. I want them to be unique, but not weird. Under $120 please

A. It wouldn't be hard to find some green athletic shoes, but it would be hard to find a polka dot pair. I would check through Converse. They usually have shoes in every color & pattern.

Here are some by Nike, but I'm not sure if they're men or women shoes.

What are some good bars and clubs in downtown San Diego?

Q. My friends and I are going to the No Doubt Concert in Chula Vista this weekend but we are going to stay in Downtown SD. We've never been bar hopping or clubbing there so where are some good places to go?
Also, how do people dress for these bars/clubs?

A. There's a lot of stuff to do in Downtown, that list is a good starting point for casual bars (jeans/tshirts). They're all pretty good, but it depends on your scene, how much money you want to spend, and your style. If your looking for more high clubs than the casual ones in the gaslamp ($20+ cover charge, drinks like $8 for vodka cranberry, $12-14 for top shelf) dressy/stylish clothes for women; guys w/ collared shirts, dress shoes, etc) here's a the main ones, i'll try to give a bried description:

Stingaree - Probably the most expensive - $20-30 cover, depending, two floors, upper floor is rooftop open-air area w/ multiple bars and private cabanas. usually hip hop/pop. dressy, more stylish, like guys/gals in designer clothes that look like 2nd hand stuff. Sometimes you get wannabe celebs, athletes, etc. but the crowds on the days ive gone are always pretty good looking.

On Broadway - Two floors, 3 rooms. upper room has house/techno most weekends, bottom floor is hip hop. normally $20. Standard gaslamp clothes- girls in short dresses, guys in collared shirts, jeans.

Envy at the Ivy - Hotel bar/club, hiphop/pop music. $20 cover. Young crowd, wanna be ballers. Good looking people though. Local Athletes and hanger-on party here. same old gaslamp dress code.

Kin Lounge - The hyatt just opened their kin lounge, which is supposed to be like a miami/vegas poolside lounge on hte 3rd floor. Haven't been yet, but hjeard it was cool, but I suspect it'll be just rich 30-40 year olds w/ expense accounts

Hard Rock - not sure about their bars at night, but on sundays they have a rehab/wet republic type thing where they have a sunday daytime poolside club. its pretty good. everyone is in great shape though.

Some more places -

Basic - no cover. by the ball park, in a warehouse/minimal concrete setting. Can be packed, a mix of different people- casual in sports jerseys, stylish trendy people, people in collared shirts dress shoes. plays like standard hip-hop/pop/rock. Rowdy.

Fleetwood- no cover. Can be older people mid 30's later. Stylish yuppy types. Same music as basic. Sorta chill.

Hotel Bars:

Se lounge at the Se San Diego (next to house of blues). Ultra modern lounge, poolside, pretty cool hotel vibe, loungy-techno music. wannabe euro-types and socials. Cocktail dresses, guys in skinny jeans, mohawks.

JBar. 7th floor outdoor rooftop pool. People in standard dressy clothes. 30 year old yuppies most nights. Pretty nice on a summer night. Not really a party/social mix atmosphere, but good if your in a group. No cover.

Altitude - 14th floor rooftop bar at the marriot by the ballpark. Younger crowd, but wannabe yuppies, so theyre in dress clothes too. Really nice view, great for out of towners. No Cover.

If you like hipsters, trendy people- the only place in downtown san diego is El Dorado. In the outskirts, way out there, in a semi-sketchy area. Sorta hole-in-the-wall type place. Used to be super popular when it first opened up. Think all types of hipsters: like guys in super skinny jeans, skinny ties, looks like they havent showered. Girls in glam/electro clothes. leather jackets. H+M, urban outfitters, ray bans. etc. I think cover's like $5. They normally spin indi/electro, but depends on the club night.

What are good websites for teen girls?
Q. I need a website that is good for teen girls. I could be a virtual world, a magazine website, a game website, a fashion website, ect. It would be great if the website had games or if it was virtual but anything will do. It would also be cool if it was a designing web site. Thanks!

What shoes to go with navy dress?

Q. I am planning to get some high heels to go with my navy dress for prom. The dress is quite short so the shoes will be visible. What colour & style would go best?

A. Of course, navy would be ideal. Otherwise, black would be the next choice (patent leather would be great) or white, if you can pair them with something like a white necklace. Avoid the 'trendy' type thing like the thick cloppy platforms - they'll be passé soon enough and otherwise one day your kids will laugh.

How do I convince my principal to allow uniforms?
Q. I really want school uniforms and so do a lot of kids (a petition already came around) and it seems like a lot of kids want to do it. I want uniforms so discrimination can stop with kids and their styles, and because it would be easier for people just to wear uniforms. Any help?

A. I live in Sydney, and pretty much every school has uniforms (as do most schools in Australia). As a student when I was younger the uniforms made everyone equal, no one really stood out if their parents coudn't afford nice clothes and you weren't hassled about not being 'trendy' because everyone was the same.
As a parent now, I love it!!! I don't have to think about what to put my children in, I think that it is cheaper than having to go out and buy tops, pants, jackets, shoes of all different kinds and it is easier to pass uniforms down to family or friends after they don't fit.
It may cost a bit up front, but long term it is much, much cheaper and easier to get ready in the mornings.
Children can still be individuals, even in uniform and also on excursions outside of the school it is easier to spot a child that is from your school when he/she is in uniform.
It will be mostly the parents and the principal that you will have to convince. Depending on where you live sometimes the uniforms can be Tax deductable also.
Good luck!

I have big feet. How am I to find a pair of descent, good-looking shoes with feet as big as mine??
Q. It's like this, I go to a shoe store & all of he shoes there are so trendy and everything. So, for feet as big as mine, I cant find one that I'm satisfied with. I wear sport shoes to school. And that ain't comfortable.

A. YOU DIDN'T SAY WHAT SIZE AND IT'S NOT NECESSARY FOR ME TO KNOW. GO ONLINE AND TRY MASON SHOES, MORDSTROM'S, CLOUD CLIMBERS, LANE BRYANT AND FOR DISCOUNT SHOES AND BOOTS TRY JESSICA LONDON. EACH COMPANY LISTED HAS CATALOGS ONLINE AND IN PAPER. THE SIZES RANGE FROM NARROW TO EXTRA WIDE AND THEY HAVE YOUNG UP TO DATE SELECTIONS FOR THE MOST PART. THERE ARE SOME SPECIALTY SHOE STORES OUT HERE TOO. JUST BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF AND SURF THE NET. TRY "LARGE SIZE SHOES FOR WOMEN" FOR INITIAL WEB SEARCH AND TAKE IT FROM THERE.

What are some stores for girls who are a bit overweight?

Q. Somewhere where they sell cute trendy clothes. I wear a size 18 or 20 in jeans and usually XL t-shirts, but I have a hard time finding cute clothes that fit me. I'm a teenager by the way.

A. Torrid! I wear a 11/13 so I'm too small for their store by a size, but they have THE cutest stuff. And they're shoes have a wider width, as do their bangles, bracelets, etc. They have all kinds of clothes. Jeans, tops, dresses, Ed Hardy stuff, jewelry, handbags, lingerie... everything you could imagine. If you say you're an 18/20, then it'd be perfect for you. They also have a range of styles that go from girly to rocker..:) They're in most malls, usually located next to Hot Topic. Or you can check out their website www.Torrid.com also in stores like American Eagle and such you would not find your size, but if you go to their website, they carry extended sizes, I believe they go up to a 22, so you're good with them. Also, Newport News. They go up high in sizes, and they also have a line of 'ShapeFX' which are really cute clothes, but with a little bit of 'bulge' control built into them. I've never ordered any personally, but they get recommended all the time in fashion magazines. There's also Lane Bryant, but they're a little more grownup & older... but you can always find basic pieces there that will work no matter what your age, like blue jeans & solid color tees. Good luck :)

When should males start buying from mens?
Q. I am 5 feet tall. my shoe size is 6.5, but i always wear a half size bigger so that i can make them last longer while i get newer shoes so i can have alot of them. And one more thing, whats the difference between Kids, Juniors, and Men. not really kids, andmen, but how is juniors different from men and kids and what is it? Also i'm turning 13 next month

A. My personal feeling is that you should star buying men's clothes when you start high school. This includes both men's departments, and also stores meant for both teens and young adults, like American Eagle and the like.

Also, in a department store, the differences are something like
Kids = for little kids
Juniors = trendy crap
Men's/Ladies = a variety of clothes meant for adults, or teenagers who prefer classics over weird fads and trends, but you have to find what's right for you because these sections have things meant for 15-year-olds all the way to things meant for 100-year-olds.

Where can I find cheap whole sale vendors in Chicago and online?

Q. Hello,
I am starting a new business and I am looking for whole sale vendors who have trendy women's clothing, shoes, assessories, and etc. I am opening my shop in Chicago and I do not have an idea as to where I am going to get the goods that I need for my store. If anyone has suggestions that can direct me to a place where I can buy goods at a resonable whole sale price would GREATLY appreciate your response.
Thank you so much for your time,
Jasmine

A. The Chicago Apparel Center is hosting a Women's and Children's show on June 6 to June 9. There is a list of vendors and their showrooms at www2.mmart.com. If you don't have a mart card yet, bring business cards, a letter on your letterhead describing your business, and business credit references to register for the show. Once you receive your mart card, you will be notified of all future shows. If you don't have credit references, you can prepay for orders with a business credit card.

What are pretty but inexpensive brands of clothing for young adult women?
Q. I have so many old clothes that I want to donate which came from who knows where. Preferably a brand not as mainstream as Forever 21 and H&M, I know of those places. I live in California if that helps at all.

A. Have you ever tried the more "trendy" thrift stores? Sometimes you can find really good deals there. I live in California too. What's popular here is a store called Buffalo Exchange. I don't know what part of California you are in, but in So-cal there is one in Fullerton. And one in Long Beach. Up north, I only know of one in Berkeley. I know there is many more.
Here's their website: http://www.buffaloexchange.com/

There is also a store called La Bomba, but that is only in So-Cal I think.

They have really... vintagey Forever 21 looking, but better clothing. Sometimes they are pricey, but it depends on the item of clothing. Jackets are usually the most expensive things in the store. It is a thrift store though, so everything is gently used. Also, if you have old clothes to get rid of, you can take em to Buffalo Exchange. How it works there is a worker will look through your clothes and determine if they want to buy them from you. They are really picky about clothing, but they will buy your clothes if deemed "fashionable" enough for re-sale. It's a really hipstery place, though. They get a little cocky and will totally judge your style.

Also, have you tried Ross? Sometimes, their clothes are just ugly, but you can also find great cheap jeans there, sometimes cute shoes or tops as well.

What are good websites for teen girls?

Q. I need a website that is good for teen girls. I could be a virtual world, a magazine website, a game website, a fashion website, ect. It would be great if the website had games or if it was virtual but anything will do. It would also be cool if it was a designing web site. Thanks!

are their any french women out their who could give me some beauty secrets?
Q. i love french women, id like to pick up some of their advice.

A. I am not French but have learned a lot about French skin care regimens over the past few months as a consultant for a new company called Votre Vu. Our products, which are produced outside of Paris, were only available in high-end European spas until this past September when Votre Vu launched.

So regarding skin care: most French skin care is natually based and the majority of all the good-for-you ingredients in naturally based lines are grown to peak perfection in France because of the climate, soil, etc. So kind of how Florida is known for their oranges, France produces some of the best botanicals used in skin care. The products are great for your skin. My skin has never felt better since I've been using Votre Vu.
French skin care also has higher % of all the good stuff - products are filled with waxes and fillers.

Also, French women use different creams/moisturizers for different body parts - not all skin is create equal! In America we are just told to use our face cream on our neck, however, the French have special creams for the neck because the skin on our neck is different then the skin on our face. Another area they pay special attention to with special cremes is the bust area. I learned this because Votre Vu offers a neck creme and a bust creme. We are bringing French traditions to American mainstream.

Also, French women eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Did you read the book "French women don't get fat"? It talks a lot about that. But not only does diet effect a women's figure, it can effect her skin and hair.

Don't know if those were the kind of tips you were looking for, but hopefully it helps some!

Merci!
Heather Wolgamott

I also ran into this:
Here are the secrets of French women you can use to help you stand out from the crowd:

1. French women intimately know their body and which styles look good on them. They do not beat themselves up for perceived flaws, but know how to creatively put emphasis on their assets. French women have more personality when it comes to their style - they own their look. So, it's key to establish a unique look that works for you.

2. French women buy a handful of good quality, neutral-colored staples that they can mix and match with each other for maximum wear. They do not "collect" clothing. Clothing is an investment and is meant for a return on their investment. They also know when to purge an item.

3. French women know the power of accessories. They cherish four to five high-end fashion accessories (costume jewelry and scarves) that they wear all the time. They might add one or two new trendy pieces each season and wear them out. They also invest in high quality everyday leather handbags and shoes, keeping their return on investment in mind.

4. French women become friends with a great hair stylist who is skilled at working with their hair type. They get a fuss-free hairstyle and maintain it with great conditioners.

5. French women treat their skin as the treasure it is. Get a facial every month or just give yourself a weekly facial. Maintain, protect and nourish your skin daily. If you have great skin, you radiate and barely need any make-up.

6. French women use make-up as an aid to emphasize their beautiful features, not hide them under layers and layers of coating. The principle applied is: less is more. Your basics include: tinted moisturizer with SPF, a light powder, blush, a great mascara and a lipstick or lip gloss.

7. French women know only too well that you are what you eat, which is why they follow a diet that is rich in seasonal produce, red meat and oily fish - all of which help to keep a figure trim and hair, nails and skin in tip-top condition. To further boost their skin's radiance, French women will also drink plenty of water and, for general well-being, eat a little of what they fancy - including chocolate and a glass of red wine. They relish in the pleasure of small indulgences and do not beat themselves up, like American women. Everything in moderation and smaller portions.

8. French women believe in getting their exercise throughout the day, by walking and biking. The important message here is to not become obsessed about your fitness activities, but pursue them with pleasure. If you hate the stair climber or even going to the gym, find something that gives you enjoyment and not dread. And again, don't beat yourself up if you're not keeping up with all your colleagues latest fitness center stories. It's time to be unique and do what is fun for you! Follow the French on a balanced and time-tested approach to life.
