What is a good website where I can learn about fashion trends?

Q. I work at a clothing store and I would like to keep up with the latest fashion trends so that I can better help my customers. I would just like to find a site that will help me keep up with what's in and what's out.

A. watch fashion tv and visit their website ftv.com. Also check out the runway shoes from fashion week (can be seen on ftv and sometimes on style)

I also work in a high fashion store, and the best advice I can give you is simply know your customer. Most women all ready have their own unique style and are just looking for that new trendy piece of clothing or accessory to update their look. Often you will get questions about new, off the cuff trends...like this summer when the tunic dress really became a hot piece. They ask: "is this really a shirt or a dress?" "should I wear leggings with it or would it look better without?" "what type of shoes would flatter my legs and body in this?" By understanding the latest trends, you will be ready to answer all of their questions. The most important thing though is to make your customer feel beautiful, confident and comfortable with her style--not at all awkward.

How would i introduce a vintage look for myself?
Q. I am tired of being 'normal' (fashion wise anyway) i really like the Vintage look, i have a few vintage pieces. What are some staple vintage items to get started on my new look?

A. Vintage looks consist of basic, well fitted pieces in traditional colors and modest coverage. Try some fabrics like tweed, wool, corduroy, and cotton. A basic button down oxford shirt or a soft sweater set in cashmere would look great with a knee length pencil skirt or thin wool pants. A pretty cotton skirt with a floral or polka dot pattern looks nice too. And you can't go wrong with a classic looking sundress with a sweater over your shoulders. Shoes should be genuine leather. Try a nude or black leather heel or a basic brown loafer. Try to avoid synthetic fabrics as these are more modern looking. It's essential to incorporate some feminine items that will personalize your look like a pretty strand of pearls, interesting broaches or a gold locket. Try to wear your hair in simple, pretty styles and avoid things like "messy buns" or "beach waves". Soft curls are a classic look for women. On a windy day wear a pretty silk scarf over your hair to hold it back or wear your hair in a clean looking bun. You can always add a pretty jeweled pin as an accent.

Try a simple tan trenchcoat that is good quality and well fitted. And don't do the oversized, slouchy bags. Carry a medium sized leather purse or a simple clutch. In the evening, you can carry a gold clutch.

Keep makeup simple - red or soft pink lips, black eyeliner and black mascara, powder and a rosy blush. Nothing with glitter or shimmer and no eyeshadow. And avoid the tanning bed!

The reason "vintage" styles have never gone away is because they give the look of high quality and class. The clothes are always well-fitted and tailored, look modest, but still feminine and beautiful, and incorporate classic pieces in fabrics that don't look too trendy or "now".

Great stores to shop at are J. Crew, Macy's, Belk. But you can find these kind of pieces anywhere. I wouldn't spend to much time at a thrift store unless it's a higher end one. Most of them carry nothing but junk.

Have fun and hope this helps :)

What are the TOP TEN fashion trends in the USA right now?

Q. I'm from the UK but I like American fashion too :)
A lot of it is quite similar but I was just interested :)

ty x

A. Um, not sure. Right now there are no definite trends. This is because the world is changing. 10 years ago there was no "internet" as we know it today. We were influenced by what we saw on TV or in film. But since the world wide web came into existence, people started to wear stuff they saw just a regular person wearing online. Notice the rise of people on Y!A asking where they could get certain articles of clothing they saw in a picture online? Yeah, things are changing. It's good in some ways, I guess. But a real shame in others. Since one minute what you are wearing is in style but the next you look like a fool. Because people just can agree on what is "in style."

So to list the top ten is basically choosing all the ones people are hanging on to from days gone by. None is really in style or out of style it's just stuff I see people wearing on the street:

1. Skinny jeans (from the Disney shows like High School Musical a couple years back)
2. Black hair. With side swept bangs (from the emo craze in 2006)
3. Head band hair bows. (From the brief "goth" revival in 2005 from the late 90's)
4. Looking like a homeless person. (From 2003's ripped "vintage" jeans)
5. Looking like a hippie - flowy long dresses, head bands, sandals (from 2005's Nicole Richie and those kids from "The Hills" Lauren Conrad and so on)
6. Wearing only black, white, gray, tan, and brown colored clothing. No brignt colors. (from 2008 after the recession hit, dying fabrics is more expensive than just bleaching them or whatever)
7. Tights; like wearing a slinky dress with black tights. (from the early 90's when women would wear skirts to work but had to cover up their legs with stockings to look "professional")
8. Hoodies (from the mid 90's when they were introduced dominantly into kids wear)
9. Ballet flats shoes (from 2005 a revival from the 80's)
10. What ever the hell Lady Gaga is wearing; 80's sun glasses, 80's shoulder pads, 80's cone bras (clearly taken from the 80's)

I find UK fashion far more edgy than here in the US. Like the stuff I saw on your TV show "Skins." Wow! That's trendy! Over hear stuff is so boring. But I find it cool that you find intrest in American fashion. I guess the grass is allways greener on the other side. ;D

What are your thoughts on these Hunter boots?
Q. I really like this color, but I just wanted some feedback. Thanks!

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/Hunter-Boot-Original-Gloss-Welly-Boot-Very-Berry-Boots/prod140380030/

A. The Hunter winter boots are quite handy for use during rainy season as well as snowfall. They are largely popular among the fashion conscious men and women as they instantly get noticed. They are available in lots of colours, funky designs and sizes. In places, where snowfall is predominant, the popularity of these boots is on the rise. One of the distinctive features of Wellington boots is the presence of gusset that is kept under the buckle for considerable ease of walking and running on rough terrains. People living in countries were there is high rainfall or snowfall, Wellington shoes are widely preferred. This is not all; Hunter Wellington shoes are famous among celebrities as well and have successfully made its mark in todays era. Hunter winter boots are completely waterproof and are made using excellent craftsmanship.

The best advantage of stylish and functional boots from Hunter Wellington is that they can be worn by everyone irrespective of their age. There are many leading brands nowadays that are manufacturing waterproof boots to cater to the needs of people. However, Hunter boots remains a leading brand due to its high quality, excellent designs, and perfect fit as preferred by style conscious people.

This brand is known for manufacturing some of the best footwear since years. Recently, a new line of footwear including the sheepskin, suede, glossy potent and other popular styles has been launched by this brand in collaboration with Jimmy Choo, a designer house. You can find some really outstanding designs for men and women. A perfect combination of classic and modern design has given this new range a classic, contemporary look. Few most popular designs in this collection are the Traditional Gloss and the Regent Savoy.

The new designs are even more appealing and have been received by Hunter fans with great enthusiasm. The original one is the green rubber design that is very comfortable and mainly worn by the landowners to avoid the mud and rain. The Clarendon Neoprene Boot is one of the most popular one since it gives you the best fit and looks very stylish. The classy colours match with every costumes and the fur gives ultimate comfort during the chilling winter. They are comfy and have a Neoprene lining.

The Claredon Boot has vulcanised rubber at the upper part and in the outer sole it has natural rubber. The advantage of the neoprene lining is that it provides warmth and comfort during the snowfall. The foot-bed has cushioned sponge that has multiple layers and it weighs just 1900 grams per pair and should not be worn near machines.

What are the most comfortable (can't be sneakers or white though) shoes to wear for everyday? See details....

Q. I work full-time in an insurance office and dress professionally, but no suits. Pants/skirts with sweaters or nice tops. I have arthritis in most of my joints including my knees & feet and have had 4 knee surgeries. The last one was a total knee replacement. I also have no arches left in my feet. I'm trying to keep working because I'm in my 40's & don't want to be out disabled at my age. However, I'm up and down a lot during the day and my feet hurt all the time. Can you please recommend some brands of shoes you've had success with? Most of my clothes would match black/brown/navy or I'd ask nurses who are on their feet all day but I think they mostly wear white shoes with their uniforms. Thanks so much and Happy Holidays.

A. There's a brand called Aerosoles (http://www.aerosoles.com/) that is known for making really comfortable, yet stylish, shoes.

Also, flats are really trendy at the moment so I'm sure you'll have luck finding a nice pair of those for comfortable everyday wear.

What does someone in their 20's where when the dresscode is business casual.?
Q. Specifically in healthcare as a nurse manager. Shoes have to be comfortable but cute. Need Help!! New Job starts Monday.

A. A dark colored blazer with matching dark colored pants and a blouse underneath that. You can choose the right color combos to make it look less drab, like pastel colors for eg.
Or instead of a blazer you can wear a cardigan/sweater type to make it look more trendy.

- Have your split ends snipped off by a professionel.
- if you have alot of money, get a pedicure and manicure to match your streak. RED and ORANGE look vibrant and energetic. BLUE and TEAL is proven to make people more open-minded.

Clothing ideas for kids old fashioned photo shoot?
Q. My girl is 3, my boy is 5. They both wear glasses. We are doing a 1 hr photo shoot and I like the old fashioned/ rustic style. Any ideas on how I should dress them/props? Answers with links to pics of costumes, etc, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A. It depends on exaclty what era you wish to copy and exactly what sort of photos will be shot. Strict Portraits or more candid, situatuinal photos.

As for props. I suggest going to your local thrift stores, secondhand stores and antique stores (though antique stores are often pricey) and look for vintage toys. For boys, it all sort of depends on what your littleboy is in to. Old metal firetrucks and model cars work well, as do old stuffed animals that they like. For girls, contemporary cloth and rag dolls can be timeless. Items used for playing dress up work well for photo shoots as well (mom's large sunday hats, strings of fake pearls, dress gloves) if the little girl enjoys that. If your children like to read, old children's books are veyr easy and cheap to come by and make for great photos. And even if you can't find authentic old books, Little Golden Books are still published to this day and look the same as they did 60 years ago. They are bout a dollar apiece and can be found at any book store with a children's section or Wal*Mart.

Non child-related props would include flowers (pretty though a bit cliche), garden tools (depending on location), hats, and ANYTHING that your children are fascinated by or like playing with. That's the big thing, it shouldn't be forced. What do they like? Bring them along when you are looking for props and follow their lead.

For clothing: keep it simple. Try not to use patterns or anything obviously trendy and stay away from anything with obvious fasteners or brand names and logos on it. Stick to nice dress clothes. You're little girl should wear a nice, simple dress (something white or light colored will show up well in black and white photography, also it's fairly timeless) with nice simple shoes (something old fashioned like patent leather would look nice). The little boy should be dressed in lighter colors as well - preferably a button up dress shirt and dark colored pants (I wouldn't be tempted to use a tie or anything suitish. Just go with SIMPLE) His shoes should also be classic looking (black leather tie ups would be good). If this isn't possible, than have the photographer to avoid having their feet in a shot (they should be able to handle this) or have them go barefoot if the location and weather safely allow.

If you can, leave your daughter's hair down without bretts or fasteners as this will date the photo as newer. If it has to be up and, if she would be willing, try using a little hair product or bobby pins instead.

Their glasses will pose a problem as glasses change with fashion and will give away that the photo isn't very accurate in it's portrayal of "old-fashioned" photos. Also, in most older photos (say Victorian era-1950s) children didn't appear wearing photos for the large part until around middle school age.

Lastly, the best advice I have for making retro/old-fashioned/rustic/contemporary photos is to keep it simple. Try to narrow down a time-frame you have in mind and see what you already have that would have been around at that time.

I'm Latina I have tan olive skin tone like a light dark skin tone and of cours ewhen i got out of the beahc i wa spretty burned lol I amm fat i weight 192 im not pretty in any way but i do like my eyes and my smile :D So I wa sjust wondering and yes I'm proud to be who i am and what i have and where i come form :D but that was my question and I apparently like those guys a lot lol they had nice tan they dont dress like all the cholos u see around lol they have nice hair and hazel , brown and blue or green eyes lol I'm a sucker for honey brown eyes or guys with blond hair american of course with brown eyes omg i sa wlots of thos ebut they well actually no guy ever looked at me haha how sad and im all imagining about marrying one of those :) Please dont judge me and dont be rude.

A. Your confidence is another one of your good qualities. The fact that you can acknowledge that you aren't "them" is admirable and you'll find someone that can appreciate you for who you are. Corny as it sounds, you seem like a good person, and there's never a shortage of people looking for that.

What to wear: Spring break trip to Long Beach, CA?
Q. I live in the Midwest and it's still pretty cold, doesn't feel like spring. I'm traveling to Long Beach, CA with a friend for Spring Break, March 13-19. What should I wear, any ideas? I'm a trendy person, but with the temperature differences, I can't wear the same clothes to CA.

Could I wear shoes like these?
http://www.myspringshoes.com/us/sale/women/sale-shoes/80456533-PATMAN/28
http://www.myspringshoes.com/us/sale/women/sale-boots/80311414-baysinger/96

What kind of clothes do you guys wear? I'm guessing most people are pretty trendy.

Thanks a lot!

A. Wearing hoodies here is just as popular as it is in the Midwest. I've got a family in the Midwest and there isn't the fashion gap there used to be. You can't go wrong with flip flops and Converse All Stars. Toms are a popular casual brand of shoe too. Sandals of all kinds are always popular. People actually still wear Uggs boots here, sometimes with shorts. It's an ugly look. Wearing very expensive jeans like 7 For All Mankind is still popular. American Apparel is also popular. Both are Los Angeles brands.
Don't bother bringing a bathing suit unless you're staying in a hotel with a heated pool or you just plan on laying out. The water will still be in the 50's. Our March temperatures are high 60's, low 70's during the day and in the upper 40's, low 50's at night.
Long Beach isn't a Spring Break destination. Our large shipping port makes the beaches and water undesirable and polluted. It's still pretty to look at and there is a nice paved bike path along the beach, just don't expect crowds. Huntington Beach is where you will find more people.

There are millions of people in the LA area and people dress every way imaginable. Most people are not trendy.

how much to open a sneaker store?

Q.

A. Below given steps will help you.

1. Review shoe trade magazines or websites, such as Women's Wear Daily for the latest footwear news (see Resources). This will help you identify your niche. While Nike, Reebok and ASICS are popular sneakers, you might be better off selling fashion sneakers such as those made by Sketchers, Diesel, Camper or Puma. In that case, instead of having athletic-themed accessories, you should consider more fashionable accessories, such as wallets, messenger bags, bracelets, watches and sunglasses. Consider incorporating a nightclub theme, particularly if your store will be located within a mall. Visit Alibaba.com and Sneakerfreaker.com, for insider news for shoe sellers.
2. Determine how much room you will need for your store. For a specialty sneaker store in a mall, you may need at least 1000 square feet, including your back room and office. Your back room needs to be large enough to accommodate your inventory and may be as big as the show room. Your show room should offer plenty of benches for customers to sit at while trying on shoes, as well as full length and short mirrors and two or three display tables. For a small store, you should have at least two cash registers. Larger sneaker stores may have as many as eight. If you intend to open a store in a shopping center or as a stand alone sneaker store, it should be at least 1500 square feet. Contact mall management about vacancies fitting your needs. Also, frequent strip malls and shopping centers for vacancies. Other amenities you may need include phone jacks for your registers, a break room, water fountains and bathrooms.
3. Purchase your store front supplies. To stand apart, consider purchasing trendy versions of your supplies, such as colored mannequins, funky chandeliers and cool lighting. If you can't find colored mannequins, purchase a traditional mannequin and spray paint it. For cool lighting, visit Lamplust.com; for shelving, mannequins, mirrors and other fixtures.
4. Purchase your must-have supplies such as shopping baskets, display cases, exit signs, shelving, racks, shoe mirrors, shoes store bags, shoe and leg mannequins, inserts, shoe sizers, footlets, shoe fitting stools or benches and any specialty gear. For custom packing supplies, visit Swalter.com; for measuring tools, visit Brannock.com. You will also need cleaning supplies, advertising signage, cash registers, receipt paper, schedule forms, bank deposit forms and gift wrapping materials (if offered). For cleaning supplies, shopping baskets, security systems and pricing tags.
5. Visit http://www.indiamart.com to purchase wholesale sneakers in some of the latest trends. For generic sneakers under $10 a pair.
6. Purchase insurance for fire, damage and theft, as well as liability and product insurance and worker's compensation insurance.
7. Set up a merchant account. Visit Merchants Account Express (see Resources) to set up an account so that you can begin accepting credit cards. Check out their tools that can help get you set up with the right equipment, such as your Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal, Quickbooks and other software to help you track and manage your inventory and payroll.
8. Train your employees to be fashionable, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Make sure they understand how to measure feet. They should be skilled at recognizing what a customer might be interested in and able to make suggestions for pairing items.

What are some stores for girls who are a bit overweight?

Q. Somewhere where they sell cute trendy clothes. I wear a size 18 or 20 in jeans and usually XL t-shirts, but I have a hard time finding cute clothes that fit me. I'm a teenager by the way.

A. Torrid! I wear a 11/13 so I'm too small for their store by a size, but they have THE cutest stuff. And they're shoes have a wider width, as do their bangles, bracelets, etc. They have all kinds of clothes. Jeans, tops, dresses, Ed Hardy stuff, jewelry, handbags, lingerie... everything you could imagine. If you say you're an 18/20, then it'd be perfect for you. They also have a range of styles that go from girly to rocker..:) They're in most malls, usually located next to Hot Topic. Or you can check out their website www.Torrid.com also in stores like American Eagle and such you would not find your size, but if you go to their website, they carry extended sizes, I believe they go up to a 22, so you're good with them. Also, Newport News. They go up high in sizes, and they also have a line of 'ShapeFX' which are really cute clothes, but with a little bit of 'bulge' control built into them. I've never ordered any personally, but they get recommended all the time in fashion magazines. There's also Lane Bryant, but they're a little more grownup & older... but you can always find basic pieces there that will work no matter what your age, like blue jeans & solid color tees. Good luck :)

Where can i find stylish womans shoes in a size 12?
Q. i actually wear a 12.5 but can fit a size twelve, i am 22 and like to dress girly so i like trendy boots and heels (no converse or vans i have a closet full of these brands) i also don't want shoes that my granmother would wear to church. 12 is the absolute smallest I can fit, there is no way i could "squeeze in" to an eleven. please don't list a company unless you're SURE they carry size 12. (alot of places advertise extended sizes but only go up to 11) thank you for your suggestions!!!

A. Size 11 here! barefoot tess has lot of trendy shoes and carry extended sizes for brands like jeffrey campbell and dolce vita . Unfortunately they don't have a lot of 12.5 shoes but they have some really cute size 12's and 13's. Shoes.com carries some nice things too.

2011 back to school fashion?

Q. i was wondering what are the musts for back to school, im going in to 8th grade?? like what is the big thing this year?? and when i go back to school shopping what should i get?? okk thanks!

A. I'm going to 8th too! *High Fives* :)

Must haves:

Jeans- (2-3), in a style you like. Skinny jeans are trendy, but bootcuts are making a comeback.

Shorts- (2-3), for summer. Mix up the types of fabric, like don't stick with denim. Bright colors are really in, so I suggest getting maybe 2 pairs in a cool color like yellow/red. You can wear these with a plain, tucked in top with a skinny belt. Super cute!

Skirts- (2), go for ruffles and florals, kinda like what I said about the shorts.

Cardigans- (2-3), go for a plain white/black/grey one that you can wear with anything, then 1-2 in a fun bright color! Cardigans can dress up and down outfits, and are a nice touch to just about any outfit.

Tops- (Go crazy). You can never have enough! Don't forget the basic camis. Lace, ruffles, crop tops, and florals are really in right now. Also, to go with the trendy bohemian look, try flowy tops with a cool cut. Off the shoulder tops are also cute, especially when they're cropped.

Trends this year:

Color blocking: This is when you use a bright color to spruce up an outfit, for example wearing a bright red shoe with a plain black outfit. Fun colors are awesome, don't be afraid of them though!

Bohemian: Braids, florals, drapery, you know it.

Tribal: Tribal prints are really big, as well as feathers- as earrings, in your hair, etc.

Check out stores like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. They have super trendy clothing, for pretty good prices.

Hope this helped!

Key fashion for spring/summer 11?
Q. What would you say is essential for this season.
What colour dresses for parties green?
Hair accesories?
Makeup?
What sort of shoes?
Shorts/skirts/dresses?
High waist trousers/ jeans?
Hairstyles?
What are you moat excited about this season and bulid a outfit at the bottom which you think best reptesnts this season and get 10 poits
And what will you be wearing

A. I did a complete guide on spring fashion trends on the runways:
http://heyyysunshine.blogspot.com/2011/02/spring-2011-runway-highlights-trends.html

Out of all of these trends my favorite would have to be the feminine look. I love ruffles, lace, florals, and volume! I think the pretties color of the season is Pantone's 2011 Color of the Year: Honeysuckle. Flatforms have made a huge comeback but I don't know if I can pull them off instead I'll just go with a trendy wedge or cute pointed flats. Fuller skirts, high-waisted shorts, and a sheath or shirt dresses pulled together with a cinch belt would be a cute look i might wear. Dainty flower hair accessories would be a nice touch in a tousled back messy bun. I hear that going darker, golden, or reddish is hot this season so I think I'm going to get golden highlights to lighten up my look! I'm not so sure with make up but I know that with nail polish hot colors are like an earthy color (essie st. tropez) and a tiffany box or robin's egg blue.

Pictures from way back when, why did they look different?
Q. I was just looking at some old pictures of my mother when she was young (back in the early 40's). People looked different back then. I know it could be their clothes, etc. I look at her today and she looks like the present time.

Why do you think people look different in their generation but when they reach today's time they don't look different anymore? I am focusing on the face and nothing else. So hard for me to explain, maybe you will know what I mean.

A. I remember seeing a picture of a friend of mine, when she was a young
teenager. She wore dark red lipstick and a very grown up hairstyle
and she didn't pluck her brows then. And she looked at 15 older than
she did at 26. I remember pictures of my mom and aunts when they
were teens, and they all looked mid 30's when they were only in their
mid teens. They were all chunkier, had thick bushy hair and curly, and
wore anklets with thick ankles. Their clothes were more loose and
not form fitting. They wore bulky coats and clunky shoes and lace up
oxfords in high school. They wore dark lipstick and blush and had
thicker brows also. It was a new trendy look that was preceded by
the flat wavy hair styles of the 30's. And every young woman wore more make up or darker toned makeup than they wear today. The makeup alone can change someone from a more light and natural shade to a harsher darker coloring. And the hair style can make all the difference in the world as someone gets older. Colors of clothes
changed along with the cut or curve of a style. Dark and drab colors
were more predominant in the 40's and reflects the dreary years of
the war going on. I look back and remember a downtown rush hour
with people in dark clothes. And pictures taken then were in black
and white. And to me as a child, I saw things in a black and white
world most of the time. People didn't wear the bright colors of today,
because they weren't available to technology. They didn't have the
dyes for one thing that we have available today, nor the synthetics
that were developed after I was young. People also had less hanging
in their small closets than they do today. Many had to wear the
same dresses as they did in the summer. You never saw an average
person being a clothes horse back when. Clothes were more secon-
ary in importance than they are today. People were more frugal, and
they put their extra money in a bank. There were no credit cards
to buy on whims, or keeping up with new styles and fads. Everyone
tended to make do. And if women did splurge, it was on a new hat,
or a new pair of shoes. Those two things, could update a wardrobe.
I remember how few clothes hung in my parents' closet. One evening
dress for going out dancing, one fur coat, a couple of skirts and
blouses and winter wear was folded in a drawer along with under-
wear and socks and sweaters. My dad had two suits and a couple pair
of slacks and a few dress shirts. His casual wear was limited to
some light blue khaki pants and a few short sleeved shirts. And since
there was only one closet it all was mashed together. It wasn't until
we moved to a larger house with a double sized closets, that more
clothes were added. And there were built in drawers inside the
closet for folded things.
My mother looked younger to me growing up, than she did as a
teenager. Just due to a changed shorter hair style and she stopped
perming her hair and began coloring it. She changed with the times
to different makeup that was more flattering. And her clothes followed
the trends but yet she didn't by fadish things. She was practical and
bought things to last. I think most people had that same mind set.
Since they were products of the Great Depression and WWII.

I have fat feet does anyone know where I can buy heels?
Q. I have fat feet and I really love wearing heels and wedged shoes the only problem is I have a hard time finding shoes that fit and it makes me really really embarrassed when I can't buy the shoes I want so I was wondering if anyone knew of any trendy cool sites or shops in Atlanta that have shoes for women with fat feet.

A. The Avenue (which is a plus-size clothing store) has some shoes in wide widths (www.avenue.com; they're called "Cloudwalkers" shoes...but I'd go to a store & try them on, because they seem to run a little big); Payless; or go to a website like www. zappos.com or www.endless.com and search for the shoes that come in wider widths.

I also have wider feet...some brands are better than others. Nine West & Bandolino seem to run a little wider than some other brands of dressy shoes; for casual shoes, Born is actually a M/W width and they have some adorable wedgy sandals.

Stylish a Fashion Guide for Plus Size Petite Women?

Q. Is there anything you think a plus-sized woman should avoid, and why? ... That being said, all big women, though, should wear form-fitting clothes.

A. Here are some tips to keep a classic style while sensation youthful:

Choose solids whenever wearing trousers, skirts as well as jackets -- whitened, black, khaki, dark chocolate brown, actually olive green.

Put on or have cardigan knit tops or sexy dresses to cover stomach fat and stay comfortable in air-conditioned locations. Loose fitted is better than restricted. I tend to put on a camisole or even textured t-shirt beneath my sexy dresses. My shops of choice tend to be Banana Republic as well as Anne Taylor or even Anne Taylor Attic, where I'm able to often find several trendy items (on sale) to decorate my traditional wardrobe. A lot of women find Talbots as well as Chico's preferable, because they cater to the actual middle-aged woman's determine; i.at the. the middle.

Purchase comfortable footwear. You can find fashionable and trendy footwear made by Clarks, Munro, Merrell, Rockport and various other manufacturers. I've bought comfy high heel shoes made by Tahari that do not squeeze the life span out of my personal feet. However i make sure the foot area is actually wide sufficient and made of material or gentle leather. In addition, I buy the 7 or even 7 1/2 rather than 6 1/2 nowadays.

Accessorize along with bold jewellery. Big drops are all the trend but if you are middle-aged they might overcome you. Select wisely. My personal mother shines in handmade and very jewelry through Swarovski. But you will find similar types of costume jewellery in Talbots, Angel Taylor, Banana Republic, Chico's along with other shops. If you are short much like me, big jewellery is overwhelming. With regard to taller ladies, bolder is most likely better.

I have big feet. How am I to find a pair of descent, good-looking shoes with feet as big as mine??

Q. It's like this, I go to a shoe store & all of he shoes there are so trendy and everything. So, for feet as big as mine, I cant find one that I'm satisfied with. I wear sport shoes to school. And that ain't comfortable.

A. YOU DIDN'T SAY WHAT SIZE AND IT'S NOT NECESSARY FOR ME TO KNOW. GO ONLINE AND TRY MASON SHOES, MORDSTROM'S, CLOUD CLIMBERS, LANE BRYANT AND FOR DISCOUNT SHOES AND BOOTS TRY JESSICA LONDON. EACH COMPANY LISTED HAS CATALOGS ONLINE AND IN PAPER. THE SIZES RANGE FROM NARROW TO EXTRA WIDE AND THEY HAVE YOUNG UP TO DATE SELECTIONS FOR THE MOST PART. THERE ARE SOME SPECIALTY SHOE STORES OUT HERE TOO. JUST BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF AND SURF THE NET. TRY "LARGE SIZE SHOES FOR WOMEN" FOR INITIAL WEB SEARCH AND TAKE IT FROM THERE.

Where can I find fashionable plus size shoes?
Q. Does anyone know where I can buy either in a store or online trendy plus size shoes like for a size 12 womans foot? Every website I find has real ugly and outdated shoes. HELPP!
anddd... I'm not a monster, I'm just really tall at 6'1 so its hard for me to find tall lengths and bigger shoes =(

A. I believe Payless goes up to a 13. Nordstrom is always a good bet - they started out as a hard to find shoe specialist, way back when, and have kept that aspect of their business up even after re-focusing to fashion.

There are quite a few more listed in our shoe directory, that notes sizes (and widths) at:

What kind of shoes to wear to cold, outdoor wedding?
Q. I will be traveling to Washington state for a fall beach wedding, which will probably be pretty windy and cold so sandals are out. It's not a super fancy affair, somewhere between casual and dressy (like nice sweater, skirt or dressy jeans). But anyway, I'm not really sure what kind of shoes to wear because of the cold, the sand and trying to look nice. Any ideas?

Basically I will never spend more then 80 dollars on shoes. Best place online that is under this price range?

Q. I love trendy shoes. But think it's a waste of my hard earned dough to buy $200 pair of shoes I will most likely wear only one season. Anyone know of a good website? That doesn't charge or has super cheap shipping fees?

A. Toms.com
they are really cute shoes!!!!! But you might want to get them half a size smaller cuz they stretch after a while
here's what they are:
they are a shoe company but they say "we are not a company. We are a movement"
they give brand new toms shoes to kids in need like afganastain, Africa, after huricanes (sorry I suck at spelling) and other places like that. Theyre saying is "one for one" it's so great and for a great cause! They are 54 at most I think. If you are a size 3-4 you will be under youth and the youth shoes are 40 something $ but 5 and up are around 54

I am thinking about buying a men/women's clothing store in a small town. What can I do to update it?

Q. I can't spend a lot of money, but I would like to make the store not look so 80's. Any suggestions about how to update dressing rooms, choose paint colors, use trendy decor would be appreciated. Also, what kind of fixtures are popular right now (mannequins, racks, display cases)? If you have any tips on going to market, that would be great too!

A. well i would try store supply.com & my friend redid an old store with tons of stuff from ikea they are affordable & easy to assemble. For the markets i would take alot of linesheets & write notes dont sign anything incase you change your mind you doont want them to have your signature because then its hard to cancel an order. I usually write all my orders after the show to see all my options you can budget that way better too. Definetly wear comfortable shoes & bring some candy or granola bars because it gets tiring talking allll day. My favorite show is in vegas Magic & project you need to go the whole time because they also have alot of great seminars that you can learn from. http://show.magiconline.com/magic/v42/index.cvn

What dress could compliment my long-torsoed figure?

Q. I'm having a little trouble finding a dress for the upcoming winter formal dance at my high school. I have a long torso, so it's hard to find a dress that doesn't make my legs look like stubs. I also have a curvy figure (skinny stomach, bigger chest and butt), so wearing an a-line dress just makes my butt stick out and draws more attention to my long torso.

What cut would look best on me? (I'm about 5'4").

Any suggestions would be awesome!

A. Try dresses with this type of shape:
http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/angles-of-mine-dress
http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/swoon-enough-dress

Here are just some general tips for girls with long torsos:
Try to elongate your legs

The longer your legs look, the less the observing eye will see any discrepancy or imbalance between legs and torso. Good bets include sporting short hemlines, wearing shoes and tights in the same color range, wearing pants and shoes/boots in the same color range, and trying out a few pairs of platform shoes.

Investigate high waists

High-waisted pants and skirts are an amazing tool for the long-of-torso. Since they end well above your true, natural waistline, they create visual balance along your midsection. Luckily, high waists have been trendy for a couple of years now, so they shouldn’t be too hard to locate!

Belt high, belt wide

Empire waisted dresses and tops are fabulous bets, but you can belt shirts and dresses on your own, too. And when you belt, belt high. You may be belting above the smallest part of your waist/torso, but in doing so, you’ll balance all that length. Utilizing a wide belt will help, too, since skinny belts might actually make your torso look yet longer. The width of the belt will break things up more gracefully. (If you’re a petite woman with a long torso, either stick to belting high or experiment with medium-width belts.)

What is the one thing every fashion foward girl should have in her closet?
Q. What do you think every young (teenage-20s) girl should have in her closet? Ex. White shirt, black bag, pair of flats...
No more Uggs please! i hate those shoes.

A. As a woman in my early 20s, I feel that I need classy pieces that transcend seasons and stay classic forever.
For example, button-down shirts/blouses, jeans that aren't too trendy (by that, I mean classic cuts and styles), trousers that are straight leg in neutral colors (black, gray, tan, brown, even some pinstriped), fitted blazers and other structured jackets, pencil skirts, a-line skirts, 3/4 length sleeved tops (can be v-necked, wrap tops, etc), wrap dresses, pea coats or trenches.

Accessories are where you can have inexpensive fun with chunky, long, beaded necklaces, dangley earrings, scarves, belts, etc.

Also, be aware when choosing color. Bright colors are great, but sometimes jewel-toned shades are more sophisticated. Having said that, color can be great to add some flair to an otherwise neutral and drab wardrobe.
Fit is important. In a classic look, it seems that nothing is ever too tight or baggy.

As for shoes, I love flats, but I also feel that having at least 1-2 pairs of pumps (like in a neutral color, black or brown) is important. Also, boots are great for fall and winter whether they're flat or heeled. If you love color, invest in some bright shoes, such as a pair of red pumps. It can be a great signature look IF that's your kind of thing.

Having said all that, you can easily fit trendy pieces from every season into that.

How do you dress cute, but not girly?

Q. I work with a lot of older women, and I want to dress professional but not boring but not childish either because I want to be taken seriously
Like the girls on the Hills but not as expensive. They dress cute but not childish or slutish right?

A. 1] buy clothes that flatter your figure and coloring, not just 'hot' items
2] buy things that coordinate without being to matchy-matchy
[ like brown leather jacket with brown tweed top of knee skirt = cute and professional, but not girly or boring ]
3] trends in tops usually blend into office wear better than any 'funky' [ puddle pants, very high waists, skinny jeans, micro minis, hooker stilettos, sky high platforms ] bottoms or shoes. They are also cheaper, overall!
4] add some interesting belts to a 'boring' outfit - chain, lace, velvet, patent leather, woven, crocodile.
5] wear interesting shoes - different heel heights, colors, textures, [ velvet, quilted, etc. ]. No open toes, or sandals.
6] wear trendy costume jewelry [ not juvenile! ]. Avoid plastic beads, etc. Try various precious metals, and modern set stones for rings, earrings.
7] grown up hair - ponytail with a barette - yes, with a scrunchie or banana clip - no; pigtails - no.
french braid or single braid - yes, double braids - no
pulled back with barette or leather or fabric band - yes, plastic headband - no.

What are pretty but inexpensive brands of clothing for young adult women?
Q. I have so many old clothes that I want to donate which came from who knows where. Preferably a brand not as mainstream as Forever 21 and H&M, I know of those places. I live in California if that helps at all.

A. Have you ever tried the more "trendy" thrift stores? Sometimes you can find really good deals there. I live in California too. What's popular here is a store called Buffalo Exchange. I don't know what part of California you are in, but in So-cal there is one in Fullerton. And one in Long Beach. Up north, I only know of one in Berkeley. I know there is many more.
Here's their website: http://www.buffaloexchange.com/

There is also a store called La Bomba, but that is only in So-Cal I think.

They have really... vintagey Forever 21 looking, but better clothing. Sometimes they are pricey, but it depends on the item of clothing. Jackets are usually the most expensive things in the store. It is a thrift store though, so everything is gently used. Also, if you have old clothes to get rid of, you can take em to Buffalo Exchange. How it works there is a worker will look through your clothes and determine if they want to buy them from you. They are really picky about clothing, but they will buy your clothes if deemed "fashionable" enough for re-sale. It's a really hipstery place, though. They get a little cocky and will totally judge your style.

Also, have you tried Ross? Sometimes, their clothes are just ugly, but you can also find great cheap jeans there, sometimes cute shoes or tops as well.

Are there any other nice places to shop for CUTE plus size clothes?

Q. Hi there, I am a Lane Bryant and Torrid fan. I can also find cute clothes at Nordstrom's and Macy's. However, I am not interested in looking like anyone's Granny. Any ideas on other places or websites that sell cute plus size clothes that are well made?

Thanks!

A. I feel your pain! I usually find great clothes at those stores, but some of them aren't my style. I can usually find great basic pieces... like dress pants, button up shirts, and jeans at Macy*s and Lane Bryant but I like the hip stuff too!

In my area, these are the places I go to...

Goody's. Believe it or not, they have a small section in the Plus Size women's department called Junior Plus. I bought some of my favorite summer outfits from there this year. They usually have the trendy stuff, too! I like their summer tops and shorts!

Ross. If you have one of these near you, I suggest that you go! Their Woman's World section usually has a bunch of clothes for the older lady, but they also have a lot of cute style clothes. I got some really cute hoodies and tops there this fall. When I go there, I usually find 90430344909085 things or NOTHING. It can really be hit or miss. If you take the time to look through each hanger, you will find some cute stuff. They go up to a size 4X too. Oh, and check out their dresses! They have a ton of dresses in Plus Size!

Cato. There is a Cato right down the road from me. They have Petite and Plus. What is cool is that anything that they have in Petite... they have the same exact thing in Plus. I hate going by a window and being like... "That outfit is so cute!" only to find out that it only goes up to a size 12. :( Again, you really have to look through the racks, but I have bought some nice stuff there. Also, they have a shoe section with plenty of wides and size 9, 10, 11.

Fashion Bug. While their stuff is usually lower quality, they do gear a lot of their clothes to the younger crowd. They usually have awesome dresses and stuff. I have a hard time finding dresses for weddings and events like that, but Fashion Bug has come through for me a lot. And they have cute underwear, especially if you like thongs and boyshorts.

Believe it or not, I do like to shop at Wal*Mart and Target sometimes. I find great basics like velvet pant suits, long sleeve t-shirts, and capris/shorts.

OldNavy. They used to have a better selection in the store, but they have gone exlusively online for their Plus Sizes. If you know what size you are, then you can shop there. I try not to buy online because I like to try something on, but I am really familiar with their sizes. OldNavy is probably one of my favorite places for summer clothing.

Those are my usual spots! I wish you luck because I know how hard it is to find something that looks cute and is flattering to our body type! Good luck!

Does this extract sound good?

Q. CeCe woke up as excited as can be. It was her fourteenth birthday. She could hardly breathe.
“CeCe, are you up?” her mother called from down stairs. “Yeah, I’m up!” she called back to her, sitting up in her bed. Then her older sister, Bella, walks in, “Happy Birthday little sister.” She gave her a hug.
“Thanks big sister.” CeCe smiles as her sister walks down stairs. She made her way to her wardrobe and picked out the trendiest outfit she could find. It was a white sleeveless shirt, a green floral printed skirt and orchard pink patent lace up derby shoes with jewelled heels.
Then she went into the bathroom where, she washed her face and curled her layered brown hair. Quickly, CeCe put on a dab of lip balm and when downstairs for breakfast. “Happy birthday, darling.” Her mum said, in a perky voice. She hugs CeCe and kisses her on the forehead.
“Happy birthday, CeCe.” Her dad grinned, kissing her on the cheek. Then the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” CeCe called rushing to the door. When she opened it, there was a tall redhead lady in a suit on the doorstep. CeCe was a bit worried so she shouted, “Mum!”
Her mother came to the door as the woman said “Hello, I’m Samantha Rhodes, London child and family service, I realize today is Miss Cecelia’s fourteenth birthday.”
“Yes, it is.” CeCe mum replied, with a worried expression on her face.
“Well, I suggest you don’t know the truth,” the lady said briefly “May I come in?” CeCe wondered what she could mean as she and her mum moved out of the way to let the lady in. Then she sits on the sofa followed by CeCe, her mum, her dad and Bella.
“So Miss Cecelia, first off, happy birthday.” The lady said, cheerily. “Thanks.” CeCe snapped, which sounded kind of mean. “This is never easy,” the lady continues, taking a deep breath “But we are supposed to do this on the fourteen birthday of all of our children. Miss Cecelia Delilah Burrows, you are an adopted child.”
CeCe’s mouth drops open, and she starts blinking really fast to hold back her tears “There’s no way I’m adopted. Go away and leave us alone!”
“Miss Burrows, I know you’re upset, but you need to know the truth.” The lady said, trying to reassure CeCe.
“It’s not the truth, you’re lying!” CeCe shouted.
“You also have a twin,” the lady continued, as CeCe started to calm down “You were separated at birth. Her name is Alexandra Emma Pope. She lives in Hounslow.” CeCe was left speechless, she ran up stairs to her room, and slammed the door shut.

A. It's not horrible, but based off this excerpt I wouldn't read this sort of novel. It's seems a bit too cliched.

What is the best plus size store.?
Q. Is there any store like Fashion Bug? Excluding Torrid & LB

Good luck! ..."

I hope this helps you!

Where can I find information on the company who manufactures Starter sportswear?

Q.

A. Nike is the owner and manufacturer on the Starter sportswear line of clothing.

NIKE, Inc. (NYSE: NKE)
1 Bowerman Dr.
Beaverton, OR 97005-6453

Phone: 503-671-6453
Fax: 503-671-6300
http://www.nikebiz.com

NIKE is the world's #1 shoemaker and controls more than 20% of the US athletic shoe market. The company designs and sells shoes for a variety of sports, including baseball, cheerleading, golf, volleyball, hiking, tennis, and football. NIKE also sells Cole Haan dress and casual shoes and a line of athletic apparel and equipment. In addition, it operates NIKETOWN shoe and sportswear stores, NIKE factory outlets, and NIKE Women shops. NIKE sells its products throughout the US and in about 160 other countries. Nike brand veteran Mark Parker succeeded Bill Perez, who resigned in 2006, as president and CEO.

Image-savvy NIKE sells its products through about 22,000 retail accounts in the US and through independent distributors and licensees in other countries. Subsidiaries include Cole Haan (dress and casual footwear), Bauer NIKE Hockey (hockey equipment), Hurley International (sports apparel for skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing), and Converse (classic and retro-style shoes including the Chuck Taylor brand). In 2004 it purchased athletic apparel and footwear makers Official Starter Properties and Official Starter LLC. In late 2004 NIKE bundled the brands into a unit called Exeter Brands Group, based in New York City. The group develops brands in discount retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Target.

The company is rethinking some of its long-standing agreements with retailers, particularly during the retail industry's consolidation push in 2005. As Sears and Kmart begin to polish its own image as a combined entity, NIKE decided effective October 2005 to no longer sell its products in Sears stores nationwide. Sears carries competitor brands: New Balance, Reebok, adidas, and Skechers.

NIKE is keeping its eye on its brands and how customers perceive them -- and on the competition. When adidas-Salomon acquired Reebok in 2006, the deal put the joined companies in a position to compete with longstanding rival NIKE, which has held the top spot in the athletic apparel and footwear markets worldwide for decades.

Looking over its shoulder (striving to maintain its top spot), Nike began actively filing patent lawsuits in 2006 against its competitors, specifically adidas-Salomon. Nike asserts that adidas has used elements of its SHOX cushioning technology in developing the adidas Kevin Garnett and A3 shoes.

NIKE's also honing in on active female customers, particularly in 2005. It became fully committed to women in 2000, when the firm began making its women's shoes using molds made from women's feet. It had been using molds made from a small man's foot. The company followed up by expanding its apparel in fashionable colors and by rolling out trendy low-rise workout pants. Being known as a brand that caters to men (its "Be Like Mike" ad campaign) and as one that supports athletes who take performance and sports seriously, NIKE is focusing more on women who want workout fashion. While NIKE has experienced failed attempts to capture the attention of this target segment, the firm has reworked its organizational, product, and marketing strategy to get there this time around. The plan involves expanding its NIKE Women brand with a catalog and Web site redesign. It also anticipates operating a dozen NIKE Women stores in the US by mid-2006.

Like most clothing and footwear makers, NIKE is vulnerable to the moods of a fickle teen market. In the mid-priced shoe segment, brands such as Skechers have cut into the company's market share. Following the success of NIKE-sponsored golfer Tiger Woods, NIKE has developed a set of golf clubs and unveiled a Tiger Woods apparel line. In addition, the company -- which relies on contract manufacturers -- has taken steps to avoid more criticism of human rights violations in its factories.

In 2004, less than a year after entering the market, NIKE closed all of its Paris operations because of difficulties with its French franchise operator. The closures do not affect NIKE's otherwise healthy European expansion, including store openings in Barcelona, Hamburg, Lisbon, Madrid, and Milan, among others. The company altered the name of its women's stores, broadening the name from Goddess (taking on the original meaning of "Nike") to NIKE Women.

Co-founder Philip Knight announced in November 2004 he would step down as president and CEO, though he will continue as chairman of the company. Former S.C. Johnson & Son chief William Perez was tapped as Knight's successor but he lasted a year in the top spot. Mark Parker, a longtime Nike brand executive, was named president and CEO in January 2006, when Bill Perez left the company.

What are some easy DIY Halloween costume ideas?
Q. I dont wanna spend 50 dollars on a costume i'm going to be wearing for 5 hours. I wanna have it be something cute and easy and something ppl will be able to recognize because last year i made a wednsday addams costume and someone asked me if i was a pilgrim.

A. I got these ideas from my new Twist magazine so give credit to them:
WITCH: (Bella Thorne shown)
Wear your edgiest black boots or shoes with studs. Cut black construction paper in a semi circle, and roll into a cone for the hat. Cut old leggings up and layer them over tights. Wear an all black top and skirt. Add lace, sequins or ruffles. (optional). Finish with black eye makeup and red lips!!
For a spooky costume like Bella's wear an all black outfit and add a DIY hat.
HIPPIE: (Vanessa Hudgens shown)
Step 1: Braid you hair the night before then take it out for a carefree wavy style. Step 2: Flowers and feathers are musthaves, so wear a floral top and feather accents. Step 3: Denim cutoffs with a little fringe look relaxed. Cut up old jeans if you don't have them already! Step 4: Hippies love natural looking jewelery, so create an anklet made of string. MY TIP: Since it might be cold Haloween night, wear bell bottom jeans instead.
Dress up as a hippie like Vanessa by dipping into your summer wardrobe for lightweight tops and denim shorts.
GEEK: (Fivel Stewart shown)
Pop the lenses out of old sunglasses and tape them in the middle. Pull your hair to one side and tie it up in a side ponytail. Ask your dada for suspenders to complete the dorky look. Knee high socks are the finishing touch, and they'll keep you warm!!
Add mismatched acessories to a tee and oversized shorts (borrow from your bro!) for a geek costume like Fivel Stewart's.
COWGIRL: (my fave!!) (Kylie Jenner shown)
Step 1:Wear dark skinny jeans: they'll tuck easily into boots! Step 2: A plaid shirt tied up or cropped has a Western vibe. Step 3: Cowboy boots are best, but any boots will do! Step 4:Top off your outfit with a hat (preferbaly cowgirl) and leave hair simple.
Turn your fave flannel and basic jeans into a cowgirl costume like Kylie's. Throw some y'alls into your convos to sell it!
'80s GIRL: (Jenna something from Glee shown)
Crimp hair by braiding into small sections overnight, then add a headband!! Layer a leather jacket over your top for an edgy touch. Knee highs in a bright color are an '80s dtaple!! Tuck a neon top into your high waisted shorts.
The 80s were known for bold colors! Try a throwback costume like Jennas by contrasting trendy neon and black pieces.
CAVEGIRL: (Hayley Kiyoko shown)
Step 1: Wear neutral colored sandals-they're the closest thing to bare feet! Step 2:If it's cold, wear nude stockings so your legs still look bare! Step 3: Cavegirls don't have brushes, so tie hair into a messy ponytail on top of your head. MY TIP: Can't believe they forgot to add this but wear an animal print dress too. Add your chunkiest jewerly in bright colors
Embrace your inner-Flintsone like Lemonade Mouth's Hayley Kiyoko! An animal print dress or top is all you need.
Weird that I had that mag and article to help you! LOL. Have fun!! Hope this/I/TWIST helped and good luck. God bless!
BTW lol I was worrying I wouldn't be able to answer in time lol

Wardrobe Makeover/Beginning after being in the Military... can anybody offer any fashion tips, advice?

Q. After finishing up over 4 years in the military, I've noticed my wardrobe needs a complete makeover. I never had a reason to buy nice clothes before(Uniform and combat boots was all i needed) , but now that I will be going on job interviews and possibly getting a job in an office type setting, I need a complete wardrobe makeover. The brand of clothes I have now are a little to young for my age (I'm 24) . I have brands like baby phat, rocawear, eckored and lots of sweats!! LOL ..
So I need to step it up to brands like bannaa republic, JCrew stuff like that but they are quite expensive and I've noticed their cuts of fabric for the ladies on the small side (I'm 5'6 145) Are there other retailers that offer the same quality nice /business type apparel without being so expensive and ones that offer various different sizes to accomadate women over a size 4? Also I don't want to dress to to old, but professional and trendy. Maybe "What not to Wear" can help?? LOL
thanks guys/gals!

A. Thanks for serving! I was in for 11 years, so I know how you feel. My husband was in 25 and retired and bought 12!!! white shirts! He's been through remedial wardrobe training now, though.
Do you look better in WARM colors:
ivory, tomato red, peach, orange, rust, golden yellow, lime, kelly, olive green, aqua, turquoise, teal, bright purple, caramel, chocolate brown, and gold jewelry? or
COOL colors:
white, pinks, cherry red, coral, lemon, mint, jade, hunter green, baby, royal, or navy blue, lavender, eggplant, gray, black, and silver jewelry?
Buy a few pantsuits and/or skirt suits, in neutrals from 'your' group.
Add shoes that match the slacks or skirts [ black with gray, navy, or black; dark brown with brown, caramel, beige. ]
Buy tops in 'your' brights or pastels, so the pretty colors are next to your face. Consider fitted Ts [ esp. with crochet, lace, embroidery, subtle beading ], wraps, and twinsets, and turtlenecks.
Save tanks, camisoles, halters, and logo or picture Ts for weekends.
Invest in some good jewelry, and buy a nice dress for the Christmas party!
Try:
JCPenney
Chadwicks
Newport News
Spiegel...all online,
and the sales or outlet section of department stores.

Q. I wear a size 11/12 in women where do I find cute sandals/ tennis shoes/ dressy flip flops

A. I also wear an 11. I find my shoes at Nine West, Macy's and places like American eagle. I hope this helped!!

Advice for Young Woman Traveling Alone in India?

Q. I don't need to be told that it's dangerous and not to go. I'm going.

I want to be respectful in the way I dress and how I handle myself in public situations. Although I know that India can be dangerous for women, I also know that ignorant tourists exacerbate the situation. I plan on arriving in Delhi in respectable clothing with a scarf and immediately shopping for salwar kameez. Is there certain color or styles to look out for? I'll be staying in the Lajpat Nagar area (I think)... places to shop? What do women typically wear on their feet? Do women wear sunglasses? Would wearing a tilaka (bindi) help me assimilate or would it be rude? If I were to wear one what color? Best places to see/shop in Delhi? Safest areas?

When speaking to strangers should I look them in the eye? Is it better to approach women or men when asking directions or help? Groups or alone? Should I book rides to train stations ahead of time? Taxi? Rickshaw? Can I walk in Delhi alone during the day?

I'm going on day trips to Agra and Jaipur from Delhi (CC) and also taking a sleeping train car to Varanasi to stay two nights. Tips for trains? I plan on going with the 1A or 2A.

Anything you can think of will be helpful! Thanks!
Also henna... I'd like to get some, but I know that depending on the design it can mean certain things. Advice for where and what to get?

A. huh, impressed by your research on the subject :D

well to start with, It'll be good you try salwar suit, but not many delhi girls wear that, most of them you'll find in western dresses only. still to get a feel of the youth, I shall recommend you to get around the north campus delhi university (accessible by metro) and get the latest style checks on colors and design of suits. You'll find a handful of trendy girls in Lajpat nagar too, but DU north cam is recommended.
well in feet they wear shoes / bellies, you can try "jutti" make sure you buy the right brands, they are not always comfortable.
By the time you'll come Sun'll kill you if you wont wear sunglasses.
Tilak is different from bindi. tilak is something put on religious occasions or may be when you arrive at hotel they'll put it on you after a welcome. Bindi is similar usually a plastic now a days, meant for married woman. bachelors put it too in style, but its meant for Married woman. single woman must put any color but red. put the one that matches your salwar suit.

Best places a lot depend on your mood and taste, you can find lot of them on web, I'll recommend you to go to humayun's tomb. If you need time to ponder go to Issa khan's tomb close to Humayun's tomb.
Safest areas I'll say are everywhere and nowhere. dont get around places alone at night is all i'll say.

Eye contact :) you'll make out looking at their eyes if you should make it or not. remember that people stalk in here, its just curiosity. its good if you keep yourself reserved.
Approaching a woman is safe, but not sure if they'll have answers to your questions. reach the gentleman, preferably alone but use your wisdom.
booking trains is not easy, you need to book well in advance or reach the agents. taxi buses etc are available.
And yes you can walk alone in delhi during the day.
day's trip to Agra and Jaipur is manageable but not both on same day. Del - Jaipur one day and Delhi - Agra other day.
Varanasi is a nice place to be, you'll find everything as you find in pictures, but the 'real' sages the Naga's, the Aghori's are not accessible. not ever to locales.
And Heena is better known as mehendi, you can reach any beauty parlor for the same. you'll find many in Lajpat nagar. or reach some salon in any malls.

Tips: research on the prices before you go places for obvious reasons :)
On day 1 apply for a local sim card, affordable plus connectivity & access to maps, apps etc.
download the delhi metro map on your phone, can use traveller's card for getting around city (2$ for multiple entries all round the day)
note the woman's helpline number 1090 or delhi police 100. very supportive

How many brand does Gap Inc. have?
Q. And which kind of customers does each brand focus on?
does it have a varity of prices?
why they divided gap into those different brand?
What's the difference between banana republic, gap and old navy, especially in price.
banana republic is the most expensive?

A. Banana Republic - the most expensive of the brands, generally targets working professionals who can afford to pay a lot for a dress shirt or sweater and pants, etc. However, Banana's outlet division "Banana Republic Factory Store" or BRFS is much more affordable (even cheaper than Gap's regular price merchandise)

Gap - much larger target for customers - all the way from Baby to Adult, has a wide variety of merchandise while still carrying the basics as well as trendier items, I'd say for up to age 40.

Old Navy - the most affordable of the brands, also has baby thru adult. Also carries basics, while making a recent attempt to become a specialty store (carrying more trendier items and getting more stylish with their clothes).

Forth & Towne is a new brand as of last year and so far it's only in a few states, still trying to get it's feet wet and test out the market. It's supposed to fall in between the price range and style of Gap and Banana, targeting women in their 30s.

Piperlime.com is the newest of Gap Inc's brands. It's an online shoe store which carries MANY brands of shoes - even designer brands. They have free shipping and returns!

As for "why did they divide Gap into different brands?"...
have you ever heard the phrase, "Dont put all your eggs in one basket"? It's better to branch out and diversify how the company brings in it's money. More brands = more money. They are reaching different demographics with each type of store.

What is your review for MACADAMIA shampoo and conditioner?

Q. I am thinking of trying it since it is said to be sulfate free and very inexpensive to boot. :) I was going to try Alterna Caviar, but it's outrageously expensive! $32 each for the shampoo and conditioner!

A. In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely.
Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this isn't in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law.

Don't believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." ~ Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive.
"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

I've been using whatever shampoos they have in all the luxury hotels (Ireland) and it did the same as if I washed my hair with over the counter brand. The only difference? I briefly rinse my hair with bottled water, to help condition the hair because their water is not the same as Oregon water, but they taste the same. My hair still feel soft, silky, shiny & smooth. So salon, or spa products or over the counter, my hair doesn't change in texture.

Hair products are not made of glue to fix, repair, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged.

It’s the dirty little secret shampoo companies don’t want you to know—when you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product don’t actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain… along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.
Why does this happen? Because the shampoo molecules they contain are too large to penetrate the cells of hair and more importantly the tiny hair follicles where our hair actually grows. They sit atop the follicle until we wash them away.
Why is that a problem?
Our hair works basically the same way—if you want to treat your hair right, you need to treat the roots.
HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair"http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-healthy-hair.html - or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/03/10-best-foods-for-your-hair/
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. ake the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.
Myth: Rinsing with ice-cold water after a shampoo will give you shinier hair.
Truth: It might wake you up, but a dousing of cold water will have no effect on the shininess of your tresses.

Can someone please help me with an outfit?
Q. Hi! i am going to a college for a field trip and i want to look pretty on that field trip idk why but can someone help me?

A. You can look pretty but field tripos and college are usually more casual so reserve anything fancy like heels or dressy dresses for dates, evening outs and parties.

What kind of outfits really depends on your style though but here are some ideas:

A common outfit - casual by stylish:
# Skinny/Straight jeans tucked into tall boots (or ankle booties) worn a loose tunic top or button-up & cardigan/blazer/bomber jacket with minimal accessories like stud earrings & a bracelet

Feminine but casual Outfit
# Dress down a flowy skirt with opaque tights, add dolly flats (or something similare) and a nice t-shirt or knit top. Throw on a cardigan/bomber jacket or cardigan.

If you prefer going more casual like hoodies.
# Wear the hoodie a casual but pretty top (e.g. a jersey wrap top or white cotton collar blouse) and nice jeans or slacks with ballerina flats
http://img2.etsystatic.com/000/0/5271781/il_fullxfull.260125282.jpg
# Wear your favorite sneakers with cuffed shorts shorts, add tights if its still chilly outside and a nice top with cardigan/blazer or bomber jacket.
http://images3.chictopia.com/photos/ellabella/5403104698/brown-sweater-blue-shorts-gray-pour-la-victoire-shoes-black-dkny-tights.jpg
# Look girly in a basic t-shirt with a trendy skirt, (tights), blazer/cardigan & flats or boots (ankle booties with short skirt, tall boots with any skirt).
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u9jH4TzRdRU/Tx4QtkjK7aI/AAAAAAAAD9c/hLwY0-PeFS0/s1600/DSC_0050.JPG
# or A nice long top/tunic (upper thigh) with leggings/jeggings & flats or boots + a jacket
http://lipshipsandfashiontips.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/leggings-2.jpg

For a more proffessional look which I personally wear are wearing the clothes women wear to office (either casual or formal ones) seperatly and dress them down.
# Darkwash Jeans with a Blouse/Knit top or Button up, Blazer & Flats
http://images3.chictopia.com/photos/mowmigaba/4830490344/black-h-m-shoes-red-sheinside-jacket-black-etorba-bag.jpg
# Knee lenght pencil skirt with tights & flat tall boots and a button up with a cardigan or leather jacket
# Sheath or Any not-to-fancy Dress with tights, Cardigan & Flats.
http://www.glamcheck.com/archive/images/stories/stories/fashion-tips/CLOTHING-GUIDE/Dresses-for-Women/Dresses-for-Women-Sheath-Dress/Dresses-for-Women-Sheath-Dress-Silhouette.jpg

Phew, I could rabble on outfit ideas forever but I hope these outfits will spark some ideas.
Most of outfits are low-key but nor too casual but not dressy at the same time. Some of the outfits has a tailored proffessional vibe but they are not too much for college. The only bad things to some people is that you can come off mature which can be either a bad or good thing depending on your perspective. If you dont have any problem with a lady-like classy look then none of the outfits would be bad!
I wear to a school similare to college and these are things I wear.

Anyway, hope it helped!
